Nearly 2000 people have declared their like for this beautiful track. What a shame that 8 people with dyslexia were not guided into pressing the right button!
As I listen to this song it makes me cry, knowing that their are some people who not make the train. People we must us are prayers to help yourselves and other, because the bible say that only 10% of the saints will make it. We must Find our God, and not the one the slave master serve. Read, study learn information about us so that we can teach other who are lost. We are the Saints, the Elect, the children of the MostHigh. Please don't lose your seat, it will the only one you will get. Peace
I was a 1965 graduate from Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles. Calif. and this was one of the inspirational songs that guided Afro-American (Blacks) through life. Most of us were successful. The Impressions were one of the ones...along with the Temps and Marvin, 4 Tops. and of course the DELLS. God Bless them ALL. Johnny L. Green
@jgreenvend Hi Johnny. I graduated the same year. All through high school my favorite music was Motown, especially the girl groups--the Supremes, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, all of them. How could any of us dislike Blacks when they were making music like that?
So.. after realising I've been playing this over and over for last 30 minutes dazing off feeling great I still can't come up with words that describe this amazing song. Just heaven in audio format.
@TheOreoGuru Eden... It's an Endless World is a manga about human nature and life after death, and heavily features this song in its beginning and end
@005antho Lady Gaga may not be your style, but she is a very talented singer and musician. She's not your standard pop artist. It is true she uses autotune sometimes but she doesn't rely on it. She uses it at times to add an effect to the music much like The Beatles did in their latter years and like a wah-wah pedal does to a guitar.
The masses have no idea how important Curtis was. He was the soundtrack of the civil rights movement. I was incredibly honored to be singing in the Choir at the memorial service for Curtis Mayfield which was held at my church The First AME Church of Los Angeles. It was one of the most beautiful touching days of my life. We sang backing with Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton, Lauryn Hill and 2 of the original impressions.
WE AS A PEOPLE THOUGHT WHEN PREZ OBAMA GOT INTO THE "BLACK HOUSE" A CHANGE WAS COMIN BUT 2 OUR SURPRISE RACISM HAS INCREASED, THE DOLLAR IS AT AN ALL TIME LOW, FOOD AND GAS PRICES ARE SOARING, 1 OUT OF 7 AMERICANS ARE ON FOOD STAMPS. PEOPLE BE READY, A TRAIN IS COMIN AND U BETTER GET ON BOARD.
Remember when I first heard this in 1965 on an LP Called the The Impressions - Big Sixteen, still is one of the best sound I have and will ever buy. Mayfield has to one the greats.
Well done Impressions, I declare this is a timeless song. Farthers in there 40's and 50's. We can not afford for the next generation of men to miss out on this and other songs like it. Explose them to it. Just maybe when they get from around there LiL Wayne fan club friends, they might take a good listen!!! Peace Traestar
This is one of the great songs of its era, and will live on for generations to come. The themes of hope, and spirituality run deep, with a warning to those who won't see the truth. Its timeless and thus will endure.
I'm willing to believe that in their haste they hit that wrong button...I'd hate to believe that they're the ones who get in between "us" and that "train!"
I hope you're not implying Curtis Mayfield stole this from John Mayer. According to Wikipedia, Mayer was born in 1977 and this song (written by Mayfield) was recorded in1964.
