The masses have no idea how important Curtis was. He was the soundtrack of the civil rights movement. I was incredibly honored to be singing in the Choir at the memorial service for Curtis Mayfield which was held at my church The First AME Church of Los Angeles. It was one of the most beautiful touching days of my life. We sang backing with Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton, Lauryn Hill and 2 of the original impressions.

Thank God for Curtis Mayfield.

wow! the impressions-they stand alone as the greatest soul music ever! this song plus sam cooke's 'change is going to come, another great! whats going on by marvin gaye! how about the stylistics, the chilites, ojay's, temptations, earth wind and fire, the spinners, the four tops. I didn't know curtis mayfield passed. what a loss! some of the best times I ever had were the 60's and early seventies. went in the marines in july 1971. saturday morning--soul train. glad I lived in the best times ever
