I'm amazed at how many people commenting seem to think Matt Johnson is deriding the very existence of religion, when what he's talking about is the misuse and abuse of religion by human beings. This song isn't endorsing atheism, it's calling for a return to a true understanding of God. "It's forgotten the message and worships the creeds"... How much more obvious could he have made it?

I Love THETHE. Great Music matched with incredible lyrics of pure depth. However,
the idea they were predicting the War in the middle east is nonsence. Any educated person (mostly outside of the U.S.) knew what was coming. since 48' with Israel getting thier Nation as well as thier Biblical Promise. So Matt Johnson deserves credit for putting the inevitable to awesome music. Plus photos of this war are a bit tardy, he was speaking of Desert Storm.

Not much of a prediction if you ask me. I mean, he recorded this album in 1989, and Gulf War officially start the year after. The pressure in that kettle was building up for 'years' and certainly wouldn't have taken a psychic. Just remember to properly contextualize music in the period of history in which it was made. :D But indeed, powerful song and album.

Great song from a fine album. The allegations towards CIA in the song is of course correct, there is a fraction in there who are the actual terrorists, they created Bin Laden to start with and paid him to do the job. Easy logic and the information is easy to read. Nobody would believe that so they got away with it, at least for a while. The awareness is increasing every day.
