  • holy fucking shit that form is AWFUL, it hurts my shoulders just to see him let that weight free fall way way lower than neccessary, he must have some impressive fucking joints not to get hurt like that. He's young though, that's probably the reason for no injuries, hope someone tells him before he fucks up his shoulder big time, those injuries never fully go away.

  • wtf his form sucked how do u bench 315+ for reps with shitty form

  • Vinyl weights lmao...!

  • this guy is all in my fukking inbox about how much he deadlifts. Thats good man real good man. Welcome to "snap back city" in advance

  • @Weh1921 he was probably doing an insane amount of reps

  • did he just do 365x 3? beast... anyways bars dont bend at 365, in my school gym we have 45 lbs bars, and ive seen my gym teacher bench 395 without a bend, no lies.. powerlifters are able to bench close to 3x their weight so..

  • not impressed

  • RIP sternum and elbows

  • @EPW389 LOL true, dwight bounces off his chest like crazy

  • Lebron travelled

  • Power lifters dont even lift that much weight that fast. And he is no powerlifter. Some of those plates were fake

  • @SuperChrisfitz if you have no knowledge of powerlifting than please don't talk about it. For the record, just because they aren't 45lbs doesn't mean that they are "fake". Focus on playing your video games.

  • sdgdfsfs

  • he drops those bells so fast its like its gonna drive right through his chest

  • >dont overdo it with weight

    stopped reading there lol

  • his arms are short

  • He is powerful but not THAT strong. Plus he has a amazing wingspan which means longer motion during bench press.

  • @SyRyanYang in all seriousness how can you say he is not that strong.. you have no grounds to say that. unless you have played him in the post you really are stupid for saying that.

  • @mikepants1 Just look at how much he's benching and the size of his muscle. And he does not really have much post moves

  • i think its funny that he works out in full uniform

  • too easy,, its definitely something wrong with this video

  • look at the stack magazine artical with dwight it says he can do 365 for bench press

  • Expert programming. I love how this guy is a strength and conditioning coach and obviously has spend no time under the bar.

  • all that muscle and he still can't figure out how to lift a championship trophy HAHAHAHAHAHAHA ALL YOU DWIGHT FANS LOSE I WIN

  • im doin 225 now just 3 to 5 reps my max is 245

  • :48- jiggle jiggle

  • thumbs up when you paused on 1:20

  • those look like rubber plates and i know 45 lb rubber plates are mad thick. i wouldnt be suprised if those were 35 and 25 lb plates and it was about 250-270 lbs total. he's gotten real buff since so i cant see him being able to bench over 500 lbs now

and yes real bench press means not arching your back, not bouncing but tapping the bar off your chest, and actually tapping your chest. if you arent touching your chest you are cheating yourself and should lower the weight and up the reps

  • @big973e having a controlled arch is perfectly fine. your spine has a normal arch and the goal is to support the neutral arch using the "support box" (diaphragm, pelvic floor, TVA, multifidus, internal/external obliques) which is simulated by using a lifters belt. It's worse for your back to keep your lumbar spine flat than to have a controlled arch. Keeping your TVA tight is the #1 goal.

  • @dumpywhite i should have specified. when you lift heavy its natural to arch your back. me i tend to have my center of gravity on my shoulders when i press up. i mean those dudes that have their pelvis/waist about 10 inches off the bench. that is ridiculous

  • @big973e yeah and that's the point of the controlled arch, which is definitely not what you see a lot of amateur lifters doing when they try to decrease the range of motion by getting their xyphoid as close to the bar as possible! Exaggerated lordotic curvature is definitely not one of the benefits to bench press!

  • the distance he moves the weight is unbelievable, if he touches his chest anyone can

  • Yes there arms are longer bu taller people also have larger bones along with larger tendons and ligaments so they are naturally stronger than shorter people

  • @six80ususus Your dumb.

  • @MrCatalano14 DAMN!!!! You showed me LMAO!

  • @six80ususus Fact, Shorter limbs are better for weight lifting, especially bench press.

  • @MrCatalano14 So you are saying a guy who is 5,8 most of the time has the potential to be able to lift heavier weights than guys who are 6,3, 6,4. Smaller guys are stronger? Doesnt meen the are stronger.

  • @six80ususus You are so dumb, fo real

  • @MrCatalano14 and u dont know how to spell, "fo" real LOL!

  • @six80ususus I meant to spell it like that. You don't know how to spell "u" "bu" "travle" "don't" and you used the wrong form of "there" and "than" several times. Thanks for the spelling lesson though... LOL!

  • @MrCatalano14 The difference is mine was a mistake and your was intentional lol!

  • @MrCatalano14 Sure shorter limbs are better because there is less distance for the weight to travle but a taller larger guy will most of the time in the long run be able to bench more than a shorter smaller guy.

  • @six80ususus depends on training if you look there are more smaller guys going 500 - 600 lbs

  • @MrCatalano14 Fact: You are a tall, lanky, and weak cunt, so you make excuses to why you are so weak.

  • @OSSDopeBoyz Fact, I am 5'11 180 pounds, 6-8 percent bodyfat, 315 bench, 275 squat, 405 deadlift able to do one arm chin ups, muscle ups and 135 weighted chinups. all natural genetic freak, you are extremely insecure to try to lower others to your leve

  • @MrCatalano14 you know what they say about youtube-superheroes like you, no video no proof. We'll just think of you as a troll until it's proven otherwise.

  • @onokaoonokao k I wont lose any sleep over it. Im off to the gym

  • @MrCatalano14 yeah, thought so, have fun on 4chan kid

  • @MrCatalano14 lmao you just called yourself a genetic freak when you are 180lbs under 6 foot and squat 275? for real bro, im 165 squat 485lbs, got 2nd at nationals in the usapl (usa powerlifting), prolly 6% bf at most and am a collegiate long jumper. And i would never call myself a genetic freak, you are one arrogant man.

  • @PowerSprinter You are just a champ man

  • @PowerSprinter obviously legs are not my strong suit. I can do legitamte one armed chin ups at 180pounds natural, Id say I have great genetics considering I have never seen anyone at my gym or any others even come close to it. I train more as a bodybuilder then powerlifter, tbh powerlifting doesnt really impress me at all

  • @MrCatalano14 you dont get it do ya, its not about what you do, its that whatever you do, there is someone wayyyy better than you. So dont try to put yourself on such a pedestal because you may be the strongest in your gym, but that is a very minor accomplishment. And if you cant respect people in other sports just because you dont do those sports then you are obviously a kid who never got respected causing you to never give it. Keep working and then you will understand

  • @PowerSprinter Woah I put my self on a pedestal?? Some guy called me tall and skinny or something and I very honestly corrected him. If you see me as being on a pedestal because of that then whatever but dont talk down on me like I dont work my ass off every single day. You are trying to make yourself seem so old and experienced. Basically, I defended majic, some guy called me tall and lanky,I defended myself and now wise master powersprinter is helping me work on my life. like just fuck off fag

  • @MrCatalano14 you are ignorant as hell

  • hahaha who ever thinks those are 45 pound plates are retarded. he couldn't bench 365 if his life depended on it

  • i think dwight is the strongest guy to ever be in the nba

  • u guys are jealous

  • Its harder for taller guys to bench because theyre arms are so long. D. Howards a beast.

  • For all the naysayers... check the weight when the camera flashes occur

Those are 3 45lb plates on either side. The bar is a standard one weighing 45 lbs.

    45 x 7 for the first set = 315 lbs.

    315 lbs + 50 lbs (2 25lb plates) = 365 lbs for the second set

This guy is a giant, and mostly muscle, it's no wonder he's incredibly strong as well

  • shit is it bad to bounce it off your chest like that?

  • @dsamoa if you have control and can actually bench it. i know most lifters to keep themselves from resting in the middle of reps and to keep fast twitch muscles active "tap" their chest and bring it up

if you are doing weight too heavy and try to bounce it off your chest you are either going to hurt your chest or not even lift it if you bring it that low anyway

  • Hell he weighs 270lbs, 315 should be easy bench for him lol.

  • Why is he lifting weights in his Magic uniform?

  • @mrmacross because he is dwight howard biatch!

  • if u look @ :32 and 1:09 he has 365 on there

  • even if they are bumper plates they still weigh 45lbs each so it still weighs the same as metal plates would. and 315 isnt going to bend a brand new bar the only time that happens is when you use an older bar thats had alot more weight used on it before.

  • Whoever thinks this is fake is fucking stupid. Its 3 maybe 4 black rubber 45lbs plates on each side of a 45lbs bar. We have the same ones at my school so you cant say they are bumper playes or whatever the fuck. Ya it doesnt look real because DWIGHT HOWARD is a freak of nature. How can you doubt that he cant bench 315 and or 405?? look at him!

  • @2legit2quit6 You are obviously not a lifter.

  • holy mother of rom

  • @ConservativeReality shut tf up TROLL why are you mad that he has PROFESSIONAL equipment that doesnt bend like some shit asss shit would..

  • wow me and dwight have the same bench pressing form we both lock our elbows and bring the bar all the way down to our chest. cool man

  • his form is so shit imagine how much more he could lift if he used proper benchpress form?

  • fake shit

  • Just imagine. this is over 3 years ago!

  • 315x7=381x1=dwight howards long ass arms!beast!

  • he's a strong bastard, don't get me wrong, but he had some pretty bad technique.

    ~No Arch in the back

    ~Dropped down too fast

~Almost too narrow of a grip for him.

  • Basketball players are quite strong

  • @JohnsLazy Relatively speaking basketball players are not strong compared to other athletes. Your talking about extremely tall people that get out benched by regular Joe's off the street that go to Gold's Gym. After soccer, basketball is one of the least muscle dependent sports out there.

  • @cocotiger77 Regular Joes that use roids and other performance enhancing drugs. Yeah, roids are regular and normal alright.

  • @cocotiger77 You don't know what you're talking about. While people off the street may beat them, that would be because that's all they train to do. Basketball is muscle dependent, but only in certain areas. Strength is a big part of inside game. If you're not strong, you will get thrown around down there. That's why Shaq, Dwight Howard, etc. are so successful at their positions. Strength is dependent on muscle. The more of it, the stronger you are. Putting genes aside.

  • Just goes to show you muscles don't mean massive strength, I have bigger muscles than this guy but I damn sure can't bench 315.

Hypertrophy training and training for strength both use weights but they are very different.

  • For a 90 Inch reach thats damn good bench weight.

  • @cbboarder5 90 inch reach ??? thats huuuuuuuge!!

  • It must make lifting difficult with such long limbs.

  • a half rep for him is more than a full rep for almost everyone else. imagine if he didnt have to push up all the way and go normal distance.... ANIMAL

  • Dumb shits everyones grip is different this is a big guy so he has a wider grip just cus your is 1inch from the ring dosemt mean his is. Mostly has to do with sholder width

  • These are clearly bumper plates... Look at the one in the middle, it's about half the width of a regular plate. That looks like about a 15lb bumper plate. It is definitely not a 45lb plate. I doubt the other ones are either. Dwight is obviously a strong guy, but there's no way anybody at that height is going to throw up that much weight with that little effort, and that poor of form.

Pause the video at :56 when a flash goes off to get a better view of the plates.

  • @TheBaron05 Obviously You dont hang around the weight room as much as i do, but those are 45lbrs

  • @JizilTheNizil no they're not they're fake, if they were the bar would be bending at least a little unless it was a powerlifting meet where thay have reinforced bars...and dwight howard aint no powerlifter

  • @TheBaron05 nice catch!

  • jesus christ if he didny have gorilla arms hed probly be benching at least 100 more pounds

  • LMAO, this guy is weak compared to older players, Wilt Chamberlain could bench over 500

  • @MerkinMuffly your an idiot LOL dwight howard has extremely long arms

  • DWIGHTS FORM SUCKS DICK!!!

  • Dwight actually has HORRIBLE bench form, he shouldn't be teaching ANYONE!

  • @KOTAmusic1992 whats wrong with it? not doubting but curoius

  • @GotAnEyedea Hes got his hands too close together so most of what he's working is triceps and after a rep he drops the bar on his chest for the decline when 65% of muscle growth is in the decline AND when he puts up a repetition he locks out his elbows and thats bad for your elbows.

  • @KOTAmusic1992 I see. so the key is a slow decline and wider grip?

  • @GotAnEyedea The key to regular benchpress, yes, basically.

  • @KOTAmusic1992 You know how BIG his hands are? I can guarantee you his grip is wider than you think.

  • @supermanalexk pause at :44 and you can see that his hand is like 2-3 inches from that dark ring on the bar. His ring finger at least should be on that line and probably all of his hand should be on the other side of that ring because he has such a huge wingspan.

  • long arms and 315 pound bench when niggas got long arms it usually a 25% disadvantage

  • @oriolesandravens4eva Thanks for that make up fact.

  • @KOTAmusic1992 no problem! thanks for being an idiot who has the balls the reply to my comments!

  • @oriolesandravens4eva You're welcome?

  • daamn his bench ROM is farther than others doing a squat.

  • so d.howard is getting twice the workout because he lifting more cause of them long arms. :D its a WIN WIN.

  • Joe Rogowski-Poland

    Mike Krzyzewski-Poland

    -.-

  • Yo see all these heavy guys benching 900 lbs 4 inches and 1 rep takes 30 seconds. This kind of performance impresses me, this is an athlete.

  • considering his long arms his grip is way too narrow

  • @mabuskiller it looks retarded and he just drops the weight on the way down no control

  • @ewnjr NO form. You're actually right. Also, he's like 260 lbs or so. Benching 315 isn't that impressive to me.

    I'm 215 & I can bench 315. THAT'S impressive!

  • @powerplayers1 im 148 i bench 310

  • @ewnjr and you're probably 5'1"

    I'm 6'3" and I'm a multi-sport athlete, but I primarily play basketball

  • @powerplayers1 dats cools man im not tryin to compete against u.. im a wreslter and bodybuilder.. i spend all my time in the weight room lol... im 5'7'' check out my vids

  • @powerplayers1 He's also damn near 7ft. It's HARDER for taller guys to lift more because they do more work because of the travel. So, how tall are you is the question? Tall guys that bench 315 are definitely more impressive than someone who is 6' and below doing the same because you have a shorter lever and travel distance, so less energy is used as opposed to Dwight here.

  • @MarcusKiner If you read all my comments, I commended Dwight because it's a LOT harder for taller people to lift 315. I mentioned in an earlier post that I am 6'3" but I'm actually 6'3.5"

  • @powerplayers1 Nice, but still, that's a huge difference.

  • @powerplayers1 Yeah that's cool but you don't have an 8 foot wingspan.

  • @ultralord1201 True. My wingspan is about 6'9" or thereabout. & I saw your comments about Josh Howard - you are ABSOLUTELY correct!

  • thats not 365. nor 315. Those are bumper plates... Bench press really has no practical application to basketball either.

  • @CronaciousD bench press is a complex lift, to say that a basketball player doesn't need his chest, shoulders, triceps or biceps in a sport is kind of stretching it... may not be the best to focus on particular body parts but bench definitely has an application to basketball

  • @nnyg83 LOL Bench press ain't GD squats! It's really not that complicated.

  • short people jelous- stfu!

  • he has to lift up like 3 feet each rep haha

  • why is he wearing his uniform lol

  • Because he is 6'11 don't u think ray rice might be able to get his pad level lower than his....

  • why is he not a NFL Line Backer?

  • @partyano211 cause they lift way more than that lol

  • superman at work

  • believe it or not he must be on smthn . There is NO way that you can bench that much and still have the endurance to run about 10 miles a day.

    good job tho

  • @tomry1 Or jump very high........

  • skinny..

  • its amazing that he can bench almost 400lbs, considering how far up the weight has to go to get full extension JEEZ

  • @MrBrostradamus Exactly so you can imagine how strong he is.

  • @MrBrostradamus you have to pause at bottom of lift to stop momentum, he bounces. Makes a huge difference. But still great for a guy that skinny. Basketball players are usually not that strong.

  • @ajmoriar dwight howard skinny?. . . . .

  • He's throwing op 315 pretty good with them long arms.

  • @1titans Thats not 315. Those look like bumper plates.

  • @nbkw6ma

I was thinking the same thing

  • @nbkw6ma ya its 365 actually

  • @1titans yeah that range of motion is ridiculous

  • @1titans you HAVE to understand how VERY difficult that is

  • @1titans yah your right...people need to realize how hard it is to lift really heavy when you got longer limbs...

  • @1titans that wasnt 315

  • @1titans if its 315 thats amazing. but it looks like 1 25 rubber plate on the far outside 1 10lb plate in the middle and another 25lb plate. Which on both sides would add up to 120 plus the 45 bar which makes 165lbs. Its could also be 255, which sounds more realistic to me.

  • @prankcallingisfun lol you never lifted if u think that its 3 45's and a 25 trust me bruh i used to live in the weifht room lol dude is a beast and long arms make it that much harder

  • @amunrahII dude, i didnt even say that. read my comment again. and i lift on a regular basis.

  • He's really strong...but it helps that his arms lock out way above where he racks the bar lol

  • Defiantly was shocked by how much he can bench with those long arms, hes not even flexing is legs or arching his back or squeezing the bar that hard

  • Comment removed

  • I just wanna know why he's in his game uniform doing a workout..

  • Its funny cuz as skinny as dwitght howard looks...because of the fact that dwight howard is at least 7 feet his arms might look skinny but rest assured they are somewhere around 18 inches.

  • @yonkersfugitive This was before in 08 and compare it to how he is now...Thats a big ass improvement as if he wasn't already ripped as hell.

  • If you think this is fake, you're an idiot, plain and simple.

  • It doesn't' seem like real weight . Would like to see that in person. He was pressing close to 400 lbs like nothing; unbelievable!. Nah' don't think is real weight.

  • @martinez418 That's because you can't do it. This man is a full 6'11", and is BIG. After having floor seats at a Kings game, i got to see him up close. Don't let this video fool you. Ballers may be slender with no fat, but they are strong. P.S., I saw him rep 315 at Venice beach like it was nothing!..

  • @pointsur At Venice beach; that's where are the crack heads are at. What the hell is this Millionaire doing; or is going to be doing at Venice beach? stop lying! this dude cant lift 400lbs no way no how. Sorry bud; need to see to beleive; you gullible dude. lol

  • @martinez418 What you NEED to do is close your mouth and be educated. So many youngsters talk when they really don't know s---. To brief you, Dwight was FILMING down there. Fact. There was a huge crowd there. One local guy argued that he could stop Dwight's dunk. Part of the filming had him benching 315 for his "superman strength". Feeling kinda STUPID right now? No? Your pride won't let you. I believe he even posted this on his Facebook page. I could go on...

  • @pointsur Educated you say? Educated on on what? on this guy's bench pressing! you're farce sir! stop dwelling on the dude for once. Who cares if he can or cannot; i still beleive he cant. You call him Superman; are you that much in love with this guy?. ''Hey' everyone; so to be educated is to admit that this guy can bench press!'' that is just asinine! LMFAO!. You're so gullible, i bet i can take your money lol.

  • @martinez418 Nice try. Notice how you tried to deflect the argument. I was a debate champ in school, so this is no surprise. I bring facts while you rant. Moderator? Score?: Pointsur-2, martinez-0

  • @pointsur Deflect what argument? so this is an argument?. Wow i wasn't aware, lol. I leave you now with your amiable artificial athlete and your bewildered mind at ease. Please; do stop admiring and devoting your life and time to him, it's time to grow up; not worth it. LMFAO!!

  • @martinez418 Too funny. Nice try.

  • @pointsur lol...

  • Rubber/Fake weights.

  • He lifts in full uniform? haha

  • @giantspride92 thats for orlando advertisement

  • @giantspride92 He probably just did that for the cameras.
