  • omg its bruno mars

  • Looks as though the speaker decided to make himself up in the black man theme. He looks like he donned an afro wig and used dark make up on himself {kinda like Al Jolson did}.

  • great captions

  • pretty cool im related to harriet beecher stowe

  • So thrilled to find this series of lectures!

Have recently listened to audiobooks of Moby Dick and Uncle Tom's Cabin, and Prof Patell's insights are so helpful and fascinating!

  • @MrZagg81 I thought Uncle Toms were Black?

  • This man is a brilliant lecturer, knows his subject. Has the courage to say the "forbidden word" because it is cowardly to not in this lecture context. Ii salute you, sir. I disagree however, regarding the fact of Christianity as an ideal that will fix everything, because it is being done for the sake of saving oneself from hellfire and damnation. Better is a higher, simple, ideal that the honorable person does what is best for himself and humanity.

  • Thank you for posting. A great lecture! I am reading this novel for the first time. I was suprised at how engaging it is. This is just what you said, "Stowe is using emotion to make her point." Another point I hadn't considered was Stowe's love hate of being a mother. With so many kids she was stuck with this talent and desire to write, but little time to do so. I can identify with that. Thanks again!

  • Google "Dr. lewis Steiner" and see that blacks fought in the confederate army!

  • I wish my prof did this...
