The people who made the commercial are mentally ill. Japan is not killing any of “our” (Australia’s) whales. They hunt only in international waters, which they have every right to.
Maybe they are mentally ill (probably the reason the commercial was never shown on TV) but the people protesting and claiming racism, demanding white pigs go home are 100 times more mentally ill! I think "our" refers to the worlds whales and the whales are being hunted in a sanctuary in antarctica...being in international waters the international community has every right to oppose it! Same goes for every country!
I am quite saddened that personal attacks and statements fuelled by angry minds overshadow and devalue the arguments, even if said minds make some valid points. Shit. However, it should also be put into consideration what makes them so concerned to that point? Keep an open mind.
What are you saddened about? This is a response to the personal attacks on youtube showing propaganda against Australia! I am just showing the other side of the argument! I think you should keep an open mind!...if their was a white version of Nishimura organizing the same pathetic meaningless racist protests in a white country against asians...would you be concerned about what makes them so concerned or would you think it is what it is...racist?
@sEiGoSaYgO I cannot believe you thought my comment was directed at you/your video, but thats fine.. :) In relation to the video, as i can both understand english and Japanese, the attitude of some of those protestors are unacceptable, even if they want to express their 'frustration' to the opposition. I would be concerned about both, in response to your question.
But some part is very wrong,"whale sanctuary" is the regulation that was regulated by anti-whaling side,and Japan has no legal obligation to follow the rule.
@gymikk In fact, the creation of the “whale sanctuary” violated IWC regulations – IWC regulations state that the creation of a sanctuary must be done on the basis of scientific information. The Southern sanctuary was created by vote, ignoring the IWC’s own scientific committee.
@gymikk the Whale Sanctuary does indeed have legal force. It was voted upon all the Nations within the IWC. It was passed by majority. The only country who did cast a vote against it was Japan, but even so because Japan is part of the IWC then they should still follow the rules and regulations like everyone else. They should not have some sort of special exemption.
Some part of your allegations are true,at least the part Nishimura saying "white pig"and demanding to go back their home.Those people are irrelevant tourists to Japan,and I think welcoming Japan with saying "Welcome to Japan,please have a good stay,if you like it,please come again!" This is the attitude of hospitality that Japan has in their heart.But for me looked they are mere racists to all of the caucasian people.
There are racists in every nation and they come in all colors. The protesters fail to understand the inherent racial and cultural differences between themselves and whites, and the Australian did not mean the rejection of whale meat as an affront, whereas such an offer in Japan might be. They are viewing the white hotel guests as "pigs" even though one white individual rejected whale meat (which itself wasn't bad to do). The race card has been beaten to death for too long, time to not
A coastal whaling base in Miyagi Prefecture of Japan has been destroyed by the powerful tsunami triggered by 3/11/11's massive earthquake, which washed away their whale-processing facility. In Ishinomaki of Ayukawa on southern Oshika, the tsunami of 10 meters high traveled 600 meters inland. They prospered as a whaling base since opening there in 1906. Two of their vessels were scheduled to participate in Japan's research whaling in April. search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nn20110318a7.html
HAHAHA! Unlike Japan, discrimination is illegal in Australia so you really shouldnt make claims that backfire on you! And the meat used in big macs is not taken from a cow sanctuary...add to this Japan is the second highest ranking country per number of macdonalds outlets in the world (behind US) LMFAO!!!
@sEiGoSaYgO Ha ha, awesome. Some people are just ignorant by choice. This macaroonchiffon person has been spreading hate all over YouTube. You should check out his page, not a very well liked guy...
@sEiGoSaYgO that's because Australia had "White Australia Policy" until well into the 70s. The government finally realized its mistakes and made it illegal. It's great that you care about whales while a racist politician like Paulie Hansen got elected in the late 90's. Don't pretend like Japan is all evil and Australia has no flaw.
Until recently Japan did not even count Ainu as Japanese...Australia realized its mistake decades before Japan on discrimination against indigenous groups...its still legal to discriminate in Japan...people can be banned from entering any kind of premises based on race! In Australia the people running such shops or establishments would be arrested! I am not pretending Japan is all evil but it has its flaws like Australia...Maybe you should stop pretending!
@sEiGoSaYgO WTH are you talking about ? Ainu people have been integrated into japanese society for like ever, you shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet. And the second highest number of mcDonalds after the US ? Maybe so but we are still the longest living country in the world so we are healthy in general.
@sbo1111 The Ainu have been integrated with Japanese Society aka forced to assimilate dipshit. As a result most of their culture has been wiped out, heck there very own language is basically gone. The Ainu were only recently recognized as aboriginal people in the last 10 years and many are still fighting in the courts for more rights, etc.
@sbo1111 "And the second highest number of mcDonalds after the US ? Maybe so but we are still the longest living country in the world so we are healthy in general. "
I don't imagine your current Maccas generation will live as long as the prior generations eating seafood.
It's true that the sea is exhausted. Whale numbers don't increase fast. It's just that they were wiped out and removed until recently.
Japan calls minke cockroaches and demands the right to take them. It's a world resource.
@Logicbeatslies Yeah, and the right way to approach this is to use an idiot like Paul Watson, who is a completer liar, make up shits, horrible actor (pretending to be shot lol) . Yeah, using a dumbass like him does make me upset, and try to do the opposite. Remember that extremists create extremists on the other side. I'm an extremist now thanks to paul watson
@sbo1111 I hold you accountable for your extremism and Paul Watson for his, but here you are being an extremist. I don't see Paul Watson here. Speak of the devil and the devil appears. Hello. Welcome to what you are.
Make sure you never think with that brain of yours. You might escape the world you create for yourself.
@sbo1111 I don't know if I can explain myself any clearer. I'm sure everyone else gets it. The best you can do is stop being so extreme with the opinions you try to pass off as fact.
@Logicbeatslies you can't explain any clearer but you don't have any valid argument. Nobody ever gave me any valid reason as to why Japan needs to stop whaling. Here are a few old arguments
1. Whales are in danger of extinction - Wrong, certain types of whales are not.
2. Whales are intelligent animals - Then I guess it's okay to kill retarted people
3. It's cruel to kill whales - it's cruel to kill any animal.
@sbo1111 Whaling is banned and without a ban there would have long since been no whales left at all.
If Japan is signatory to the ban, why are they whaling?
Your questions mean nothing to me. They were made up after the fact as an excuse. The corruption involved in Japan's whaling hierarchy is staggering. You would have a whole different set of questions if Japan could get away with more.
If Japan thinks they are killing sea cockroaches they are wrong!
@Logicbeatslies Your opinions mean nothing to me either. Why are we whaling ? Do we need to explain everything we do ? No, we don't give a shit if you aussies want to eat that vegimite crap, you don't need to explain why you like that shit. We catch whales because that's what we have been doing for centuries, yes we have history longer than your Asian hating county LOL. Now go suck Paul Watson's dick some more.
@sbo1111 "We catch whales because that's what we have been doing for centuries, yes we have history longer than your Asian hating county LOL."
You have to resort to lying because you know you have no case. You have nothing. Japan is breaking the law and for some reason is disproportionately desperate and maybe it's cultural... you seem to need to make false accusations, propaganda and hate speech to get your point across.
@Logicbeatslies State exactly what lies i told, nothing, yeah that's what i thought. What law are you talking ? Did you know that we don't have to follow aussie law? Also nobody needs to follow IWC. IWC is like WWF, it's nice that they care about animals but they have no authorization to enforce their "law", if that's what they are talking about. Again it's nice to see another aussie who hates aboriginies and asians but loves whales, typical, typical aussie.
@sbo1111 Each of your comments have lies in them. The only way it won't be called lying is if you plead ignorance for your mistakes, but since you have no intention of being corrected and assuming you have average intelligence I'll say you are a completely and utterly confused troll who lies each times he makes a comment.
If you could argue rationally I would hope that your comments had substance.
"nice to see another aussie who hates aboriginies and asians"
@Logicbeatslies Okay, I asked for one specific lie i told and you couldn't even come up with that. No, I don't have average intelligence. I have bachelor's degree in Math and Master's degree in Computer Science so I'm way smarter than average joe on the street. I can even argue with likes of you with a foreign language. We could have this argument in Japanese but i assume you are not intelligent enough to learn another launguage
@sbo1111 You seem to be somewhat insane. You called me an "aussie who hates aboriginies and asians". how is that you make these accusations without acknowledging the fact that you are just saying any lie that enters your feeble little mind?\
Get a hold of yourself Jappy. You've lost the plot. Whaling is just Japanese corruption and you're just a lying trolling fool, like the rest. I suppose you argue TEPCO's case as well.
"Fuck Japan", you say. Corruption is all you care about.
@Logicbeatslies huh? You make less and less sense every time you post. We don't give a sh!t when you kill crodiles and kangaroos, maybe you should mind your own business instead of telling Japan to stop whaling.
integrated...yes! just like australia tried to integrate aborigines! this is called racism! taking a culture away from people! Until recently ainu culture was not recognized in japan and they were not even classed as indigenous! very different to integration! and FYI japan ranks 5th as longest living...82.25 Australia is 81.81 years...wow! a few months difference! LOL!
@sEiGoSaYgO wrong, you guys didn't try to integrate aborigines, at least not initially, you guys tried to kill them all. japan didn't try to kill ainu, there is a huge difference. besides, if anything aborigines should have the control in australia, you guys are descendants of british criminals in case you forgot. LOL!
descendants of criminals? LMFAO! a very small percentage of people in australia are descendants of convicts! Modern Australia was built on migration!
What the British did to aborigines hundreds of years ago was terrible, what Japanese did to ainu until very recently was also terrible...but at least it is a crime to discriminate based on race in australia...why doesnt japan have this law if it is truly against racism?
@macaroonchiffon While much of the west is racist on the grassroots level politicians and elites love importing immigrants even though there are plenty of workers in Europe and America. Colleges now even discriminate against Asians because scores are a lot higher on average and they want to increase the percentage of other races, such as black or Latino. (the minorities that can pass for "real" Americans even if they are only first generation even though some Asian-Americans are 5th generation)
@jaymthegenius "While much of the west is racist on the grassroots level"
Are you sure your from the West? Racism is frowned upon in most parts of the Western World and discrimination in public based on race and ethnicity is against the law. I'm not saying that there isn't racism I'm just saying it's not encouraged and that it's not accepted in Western Society today.
If you change SO to SH and stay out of SOWS you got a deal. But actually 400 or so is probably too few if the Oceans were restored to health they could sustain far more than that.
Tell me one species of cetacean/fish or one ocean/sea that Japan has lead the way in restoring the health? You claim it is just me but I haven't seen ANY true conservationist efforts by Japan at all.
@rosepetal108 Dude, you are american. You guys killed more innocent PEOPLE in Iraq and Afganistan than Japan killed whales. Why don't you care about people sometimes instead of whales ?
@sbo1111 "Why don't you care about people sometimes instead of whales ?"
Who says I don't? Why do you even think I don't? Are you the type that only has the capacity to have compassion for one thing at a time? I checked your recent activity from your profile. Every single post was full of cursing, negativity, personal attacks and anger. Can you feel peace and compassion too?
@rosepetal108 I can feel peace & compassion. I just hate certain ignorant people who depict japan as all evil just because SOME Japanese catch and eat whales. "I haven't seen ANY conservationist efforts by Japan at all." huh, there are lots of japanese people who are against whaling, enviromentalist, what you call tree huggers. Ignorant whities/americans somehow think 127 millions japanese are all alike, having one opinion about everything. Maybe not you but lots of you guys are like that
@sbo1111 When I said that "I haven't seen ANY conservationist efforts by Japan at all." I was not talking about individuals or public opinions. I was talking about conservationist programs for whaling...example...the whale drive and capture at the infamous "cove". They capture dolphins and small whales which the Japanese government believes are locally over populated. Some are captured for zoos...but there are areas outside of Japan that others could be relocated to, where they are locally rare
@sbo1111 On my channel I said I am Anti Pedo so listen here sbo1111 you email me again talking about molestation, if I have a history of molestation or me being molested...I will contact the police.
I had to close my other account because of your sexual comments. I am 15 years old and I don't need some old man asking me about molestation!
Conservationism is different from environmentalism in that it aims to preserve natural resources expressly for their continued sustainable use by humans.
The Japanese are neither environmentalists nor conservationists. However if they were to take the lead in Conservation the more radical environmentalists wouldn't have a legit leg to stand on.
@USDAChuckSteak I looked around and couldn't find the source, but I did find this:
. "The uses of whale products changed as time progressed. Towards the end of the 1800's, mineral oils from underground deposits and gas started to be used for lighting and so whale oil was no longer needed for these purposes There was still a great demand for whale oil that came from the blubber, but now in the main, this was used for making the finest soaps and also for the manufacture of margarine."
"Whale oil's predominant place in society was mostly eliminated with the development of kerosene from coal in 1846, and the discovery of petroleum drilling in the late 19th century, which led to petroleum-based waxes and oils replacing whale oils in most nonfood applications"
@USDAChuckSteak Still haven't found my original source but found this in Encyclopedia Britainnica.
"In the first half of the 20th century, whale oil’s applications broadened immensely. Premodern oil was inedible, but advances in chemistry allowed fresh oil to be hardened into a fat, which was used for margarine and soap until vegetable oil became a practical alternative in the late 1930s"
No easy quotes here because it is very detailed. However it explains how from 1910-1912 whale oil went from about 35% used for soap and edible fat (mostly low quality lard) to practically 100% for high quality margarine by 1929. Due mostly to increases in technology.
@rosepetal108 So does that make it that MOST of the entire usage of whale oil throughout ALL of histroy was for margarine? Or just that the useage of whale oil shifted to margarine in that time frame? Again, just asking.
@USDAChuckSteak Nope, just in that time frame, and it dropped down after. However it is key because that time frame is also when the expansion happened that decimated the Southern Ocean Whales. At the peak 38% of all margarine was made from a blend of fish and whale oil. The % of whales used for meat was tiny at this time. (even the Japanese primarily extracted oil) It wasn't until after WWII when Japan started eating whale meat as a primary part of their diet (peak 40% of protein intake)
@USDAChuckSteak That also changed a lot over time. Various countries took the lead % wise depending on the era. The old open boat "Yankee Clipper" era saw either Britain or USA taking a higher % with Sweden and Norway right there some years. Once the modern Factory ship came into being, Norway dominated for over 30 years. Believe it or not, Peru became the dominant Sperm Whale producer for a while around WWII when the major powers were busy fighting a war. Japan dominated shortly after WWII.
@USDAChuckSteak Exact data is often hard to find for many reasons. Often a country like Norway would "lease" a whaling fleet to another country but the ships and crew remained Norway's. Other countries did the same. Thus they could operate out of a foreign port. Do you count this as Norway? or the country with the lease? Likewise Britain operating out of a commonwealth or colony, is it Britain? Or say South Africa doing the whaling?
@rosepetal108 I lease a car and crash it; is it my fault or the person who leased it to me? IMO, If another country leases a fleet to whale then the onus is on the country leasing the fleet, not the fleet's home country. As for colonies, I feel they onus is on the "mother" country.
Also, I'm sure you know why Japan's commercial whaling exploded after WWII right?
@rosepetal108 Yep. The US essentially "turned it on"....then lead the march to "turn it off" in the 80's to appease the environmental movement. Japan buckled under political pressure to accept the moratorium and then maneuvered it's way into using Article 8 as they do today. Japan wanted to file an exemption just like Norway but the US played it's hand and "forced" Japan to accept the moratorium. Now Japan is using the same tactics against anti-whaling nations. Compromise is the only way...
@USDAChuckSteak It is a bit more complicated than that, but you got the basics fairly close to correct. By the mid 1960's whale meat consumption in Japan was dramatically reduced anyway. It went much closer to pre-war levels as other sources of food more natural to Japanese culture were once again available.
Political compromise is actually silly. It almost always screws something up. The only true solution is for Japan to become conservationists and help restore healthy oceans.
@rosepetal108 Why is compromise silly? If Japan agreed to hunt say....400 non-endangered whales in the SO every year wouldn't that be a good compromise?
And the issue is you want Japan to lead conservation as YOU see fit.
Japan has the most to gain of any nation if conservation measures bring back the health of the Ocean. Japan has also the most to loose if conservation is ignore. The rest of the world shouldn't be fighting with Japan to use wisdom. Japan should be leading the way!
Interesting wording, however mired in irony. Conservation measures were ignored by Western countries which participated in unprecedented slaughter of whales for oil, and Japan lost part of her food supply as a consequence of this Western irresponsibility.
@seseljsrs See that's where you are simply wrong. While it is true all share some guilt in the over harvet of whales. The western countries in general saw the error of their ways far sooner than Japan. In fact the single biggest abuser of whaling stocks was Japan. No other country even comes close.
Abusers were always Japan and Russia, or Japan and Germany, or Japan and USA, or Japan and Norway, or Japan and Sweden, depending on what period of history. That oil thing is propaganda.
@seseljsrs Japan was one of the biggest producers AND consumers of whale oil my friend. For almost everything the west had alternatives. Japan being low on natural resources had no cheap dependable alternatives. It was especially critical just prior to WWII when Japan and Germany were by FAR the biggest consumers of special high grade whale oil for industry. And of course both nations totally ignored any quotas or regulations during this time as well. That's what I mean by "propaganda"
@rosepetal108 I often hear the"whale oil propaganda myself. While it is true that Western Nations did use whale for oil, what many Japanese people are misunderstanding (Thanks to the Japanese Whaling Association) that many other parts of the whale was also used to make other products. For instance whale bones were used to make a variety of items including, though not limited to, corsets. The baleen part of the whale was also used to make brushes, etc. The meat was usually eaten too!
@WhaleNowOrDie Yes it is true that USA and other western countries ate some whale meat. It wasn't all that popular or common though. (except with native populations) More like an unusual "gourmet" item. Kinda like escargot. Usually the meat went to feed other animals. But the whole whale was used. (or most of it)
@rosepetal108 I agree with this. Unfortunately, it's just as morally wrong to try to force your opinion onto others as it is to ignore wisom about conservation.
@USDAChuckSteak So a compromise? Japan keeps its opinion that whaling is morally right and even still whales to a limited extent when it is appropriate. BUT Japan takes the lead in conservation of the Oceans and Whales specifically?
@rosepetal108 While that sounds great you and I both know neither "side" will agree on the details of such a compromise. Because the "limited extent" to whaling and the "take the lead" on conservation are not anything already set in stone. It's a bit arbatrary because you want Japan to take the lead and whale to YOUR standards while Japan wants to do it to their standards. See where the details get sticky?
@USDAChuckSteak yeah and one detail is that Sea Shepherds are against all whaling period. So they will never agree to conservation.
However it is a valid strategy. You force the Sea Shepherds to take a position of fighting against the conservation of the oceans. That removes a major portion of their support.
@rosepetal108 True. Have you seen the wiki leaks about the possible agreement countries like Australia, the US and Japan supposedly tried to come to that would allow a return to full blown commercial whaling with set quotas? If (a big if) that is true then it is a step in the right direction that fanitical groups like the SSCS and it's supporters will derial.
@sEiGoSaYgO Seems japanese authorities allow these blatent racist attacks then. If this was Australia this sort of behavior in front of police would wind you up behind bars.
@Swfty01 "Seems japanese authorities allow these blatent racist attacks then. If this was Australia this sort of behavior in front of police would wind you up behind bars."
Lol don't you mean any civilized country? I tell you now that if that was Korea or Taiwan those people would be in jail and or fined
@sEiGoSaYgO So they obviously are allowed to torment non japanese tourists based on race?And they call Australians racist PMSL.OMG the hypocracy is astounding
@seseljsrs I'd say your views are almost identical to the McCarthyist way of thinking. Using ignorance, xenophobia and fear to your benefit in order to accuse someone of something they're not so you can silence all arguments and opposition. Sure McCarthy used Communism as a scapegoat back in the day to silence people, but your using the same tactics, except with different terms.Your accusations of racism terrorism imperialism and colonialism are ridiculous and transparent as well as hypocritical
Whatever makes an LOL hahaha person feel vindicated. The problem for eco-terror apologists however, is the reality that the charge of racism is supported by documented evidence compiled daily through the activities of the eco-terrorists and the governments who support them - the Real Sea Shepherd. Whether we talk about the duplicity of a policy which attempts to attribute historical responsibility for whale population depletion to Japan, or disguise imperialism as conservation.
@seseljsrs You accept the idea of racism in groups like Green Peace and SSCS, because it's easier to swallow. Are there racists in Australia? Yes, no one is denying that fact, not even this video, there are racists in Japan too, but you don't accept that fact? There are racists in every country... But what should be examined by you people is the fact that you pro-whaling idiots often cry racism while at the same time being racist. That's called being a hypocrite!
It's a tough haul denying the obvious racism of the eco-terror groups and the countries which support them - the Real Sea Shepherd. It's been shown time and time again that while the European whaling nations are given a free hand, such that they can carry out their various operations without harassment, the Japanese are put under constant pressure not just by Watson's ridiculous gang, but by governments and their mass media. Racist.
@USDAChuckSteak "But sometimes it IS about racism. Right?"
The problem with your logic is, it's not an entire country, like Australia, or an entire organization like Green Peace or the SSCS being racist, but individuals. Is it right for me to condemn Japan as a racist country for assaulting ethnic Koreans, Chinese, and other minorities because of a small fraction of people doing it? Of course not. The people who are crying racism are idiots, if they don't realize that, which they don't...
@rcc1111 My logic is that SOME times (for SOME people) this issue IS about race. I made that pretty clear. Did I say and entire country like Australia or an entire org like GP or SSCs are racist? Let me check.....nope I sure didn't.
@USDAChuckSteak "My logic is that SOME times (for SOME people) this issue IS about race"
Yet you support a protest, like the one above, which condemns an entire country and declares that said is racist just because they're against Commercial Whaling?
Ironically the longer Japan allows this kind of drama to continue, the more & more support to stop ALL whaling. Japan can not win this issue because even the most foolish politician on the planet will never support removing the Sanctuary. Once established, wildlife parks almost never get turned into a commercial zone. That includes parks all over the world! Why should a marine park be any different?
What you describe as "ironic" is what you hope for. It's like saying "the longer Japan resists the great Watson Paul, the sooner whaling willing crumble".
Your comments about politicians, however, are ironic in a sense, I'll grant that. For example, where is that eco-freak Rudd now?
@seseljsrs Hahahahaha No dude, I am a conservationist. Old school right wing conservative.
You know the kind? The Kind that proudly eats my saved from extinction Alligator in a nice Jambalaya with shrimp n Lobster I scooped out of the water myself? Then goes to my own personal Organic Garden to pick a tomato to put on my saved from extinction Buffalo hamburger to take with me hunting?
None of which would have been possible without strong conservation laws including game sanctuaries.
Your wording suggests that your lifestyle choices are protected by conservation laws as much as, if not more than, the species in question. If so, then you shouldn't have any problem with whaling. Unless of course it's all about the other guy using the same arguments as yourself.
@seseljsrs I said it over and over. I have no problem with whaling in principle....I have a HUGE problem with Japans (or any other countries) state sponsored poaching in the whale sanctuary
I have a problem with the declaration of a whale sanctuary in foreign territory which is simply a guise for imperialist ambition. Let's declare a kangaroo sanctuary on Oz territority and see what your Anglo-Irish land-stealing cousins say about it.
@seseljsrs Don't you mean anti-imperialism? After all, Japan is the one going to a foreign territory (1,000's of miles away) and attempting to exploit the resources (whales) there.
Japan is and always was one of the most aggressive Imperialist Nations.
I think it might have even started a war once upon a time. (correct me if I am wrong)
Unfortunately, proximity to the Southern Ocean doesn't excuse Oz's imperialism anymore than say, the original 13 colonies' expansion to the south and west. Fishing and marine exploitation rights are the product of internaitonal negotiations which are now under threat owing to the historically familiar demons of imperialism and racism.
You are opposed to those fishing rights, and in a nutshell, that in great explains the opposition to Japan's marine harvesting in general.
@seseljsrs The reason so many people are against Japans marine harvesting in general is:
Japanese fishing industry as a whole is very destructive due to over harvest.The worlds Oceans could easily feed 20 Japans, but once you collapse a population, it may be up to10's - 100's of years before that population can support anyone at all.
The rest of the world is slowly realizing this wisdom, while Japan as a culture still thinks Oceans are unlimited.
Your post suggests hahaha lol people have a severely limited understanding of Japanese culture, or tend to express opinions in the most superficial terms. There is also a tendency towards exaggeration, hyperbole, and hypocrisy which just so happens to match with that of the eco-terrorists.
It's sad that the hypocrisy extends to overfishing. While many countries complain about Japanese consumption of tuna, for example, they do not stop their fisheries from exporting to Japan.
@seseljsrs LOL My BS meter just went off the scale with that post. LMAO
In this particular case it really doesn't matter about Japans culture. If you collapse the population of any species it can takes ages before ANYONE can eat ANYTHING from that population.
On the other hand if you take wisely from a species, then it will feed you for ages. The more species you collapse the more pressure remaining on the other food species. Eventually you run out of species to eat.
Knock it off. Are you some sort of enlightened sage?
I'm not the one who's BSing anything, it's you and your superficial postings about the ABC's of common sense conservation. Japanese marine harvesting is as old as the nation itself. The only ones appalled by this history are the various anti-Japanese bigots who simply do not want Japanese to be Japanese. Instead, they want to see Japan turn into a country which is less and less connected to her traditional diet.
@seseljsrs I didn't know that Japan had a culture of whaling all the way in the Antarctic....Tell me, did they start doing that like 1000 years ago when they were still isolated from the world?
Lol your BS on culture is ridiculous. While some Japanese TOWNS, did have a culture of whaling, the majority of Japan itself did not practice it. And even then, whaling itself was usually kept at Coastal Waters. Japan began whaling in the outside during the 20th century, the same as the rest of the world
@seseljsrs hahahahaha I thought you needed some basic ABC's of common sense conservation because your posts prior to this showed a purposeful lack of knowledge in this area.
So tell me then if you are so grounded in the ABC's of common sense conservation, why are you verbally jousting with me? Also please answer me why Japan has formally objected to, or ignored every attempt at conservation IWC has every passed?
The opposition to Japan's research whaling is essentially an objection to Japan's compliance with IWC agreements, so your overt suggestion of Japan ignoring IWC conventions is not acceptable. Japan is conducting research whaling in accord with agreements reached previously through the IWC. Although there have been proposals to modify or change existing agreements, this is more about countries playing politics rather than being serious.
@seseljsrs Funny you should bring up a quote from the greatest American President in recent times, Ronald Reagan. The same President that got sick of Japan's non-compliance with conservation efforts BS and nailed Japan with economic sanctions.
I understand you would like to see economic sanctions against Japan, that's clear enough. Never mind that the country is already being maligned in the US-Oz-EU media and by private eco-terror groups who make a deliberate point of associating whaling with Japan. I see that as a very aggressive form of sanction, almost amounting to Cold War. The fact remains, however, that Japan's whaling is legal, and approved by the IWC.
@seseljsrs absolutely not. I would NOT like to see any sanctions at all. But the emphasis is on Nation to nation diplomacy instead of these ever more dangerous clashes with SCSS.
What I would like to see is Japan take its true leadership role seriously and champion the environment and whale regulation.
That's a fascinating climbdown from the hardline position you took in your previous post. The reality, however, is that support for the Sea Shepherd in all its forms by various Western-coalition countries led by the USA is tantamount to sanctions, and of a most malicious form. The extreme position is also championed by the media of same, with CNN and Discovery Channel trying to outdo Oz media in blackening the image of the Japanese nation as a whole. Whaling=Japan in US media.
@seseljsrs Even the Sanctions by Ronald Reagan were called off almost immediately. The point is no one is wanting to hurt Japan but Japan refuses to listen to a polite kind word. Don't you think it would be far better for everyone concerned including Japan?
Seriously, 19+ resolutions ignored? (some say over 30) And for what? So Japan can foolishly ignore conservation measures that help them above all other nations? It is almost as bad as trying to get a child to go to the dentist!
I don't agree sanctions were called off as you put it "almost immediately". Under Reagan, the widest possible range of sanctions were implemented against Japan for everything from automobiles to whaling.
The black-balling of Japan goes back many decades, but under Reagan, one could see a resurgence of anti-Japanese hype not seen since WW2 and the MacArthur occupation. The videomaker knows this but he equates recent reactions of a fringe group in Japan with decades of agitprop.
@seseljsrs If you want to lump together other sanctions to avoid the issue of whaling fine. That's your choice. However, I am no Japan hater. Quite the opposite actually. First truck I ever owned was a Datsun (Nissan) Last one I bought new from the showroom was a Toyota. My best friend has a ceremonial Samarai sword given to his grandfather for restoring electricity to Japan after the war. I have studied Japanese history just as a hobby. I was even a commercial fisherman. (buyers were Japan)
The revival of anti-Japan agitprop under Reagan and Bush Sr. only served to confirm the folly of such zero-sum policies - as the major victims were ultimately American consumers (perhaps even above Japanese workers and companies) . Whether we talk about the voluntary quotas and price increases Japan demanded, or the "patriotic" K-Car, the US ate its own. In contrast, Reagan's diplomacy towards Germany was a stark contrast, from honouring the SS fallen to upping imported goods.
@seseljsrs Lol correct me if I'm wrong, but is your line of thinking essentially, "If you disagree with pro-whalers you are racist!"...Hahaha I can see you practice McCarthyism...
I have seen racist comment from both sides. But I don't think it is a racist issue.
The problem is Japan is the only country whaling in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. Therefore the activist attack the Japanese people for allowing it. If the Chinese were whaling there they would attack the Chinese people. If the British were whaling there they would attack the British people. Whoever whales there will be attacked!
This video is mainly in response to the people who have tried to make it a racist issue by putting racist propaganda videos against australia on youtube!
No, that's where you're wrong. The Southern Ocean is only one of many oceans with a history of whaling. The racist terrorists, or as you call them, "activists", have clarified their anti-Japanese position to the point that anti-whaling and anti-Japanese are synonymous.
What's not so clear is the position of the various governments which support the terrorists, some going so far as to take Japan to the ICJ, also lobby for Japanese investment and market liberalisation.
@seseljsrs Don't you think it is natural that Australians will look to who is whaling in their adjacent ocean and Whale sanctuary more than... lets say... Eskimos whaling in the Bering? The truth is ONLY Japan ignores the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. Many countries may have whaled there in the past, but not now.
Now I know for a fact Sea Shepherds protest ALL whaling. However most conservationists would support Japan if they follow strict management including the Sanctuary.
Well, indeed if you are a powerful colonial empire like Oz then you most certainly want to keep rivals as far away from your stolen booty as possible. You're overlooking Oz's claim to the Southern Ocean is just an extension of an unsatiated imperialist policy which originates from a place just about as distant as the Eskimos in the Bering Strait.
Conservationists don't set policy, governments do, the kind which support Shep - aka
@seseljsrs "indeed if you are a powerful colonial empire like Oz then you most certainly want to keep rivals as far away from your stolen booty as possible"
First of all OZ was never a large Colonial Power, that would be Britain, Germany, France, the US, and Japan. Secondly the AAT is actually protected by the Antarctic Treaty, what other countries don't recognize (especially Japan) is the AAT's territorial waters.
@seseljsrs "Oz is a large colonial power, just look at the map"
So just because Australia is a large country that means it's a colonial power? Lol that doesn't make any sense, if that were the case countries like Brazil, China, Russia, and India would be counted as colonial powers! In order to be a colonial power a country must establish a colony or imperialize another country. In this day and age Imperialism is almost never practiced and is not exactly tolerated. Get out of the dark ages!
@seseljsrs "Second, the Southern Ocean is not Australian territory"
That is what many countries are contesting. However a sanctuary has been set up there, not just by Australia, but by the IWC as well. Japan is the only whaling country which illegally hunts there, even Norway doesn't hunt in the Sanctuary. But if Norway was to hunt in the Sanctuary instead of Japan, then you can bet your ass that anti-whalers would be protesting against them. But Norway isn't whaling there, Japan is.
The AAT is, as I already wrote, a declaration of imperialism. Dolling it up by claiming it's "all about the whales" is just more cynicism. It's simply an extension of NATO's human rights imperialism, which in turn is a co-opting of Hitler's imperialism. This is hardly an accident, when you look at Oz's history with dispossessing aborigines and taking their land, forcing children into missionary schools, enacting eugenics policies and experiments and so on?
@seseljsrs "And the AAT is all the evidence one needs of Oz ambitions"
So basically your saying that the AAT is evil because it protects all territorial claims made prior to the implementation, meaning that all claims made by countries like France, NZ, Australia, Chile are all protected, but suspended. Well bub that's the law, and fortunately Japan is a signatory to the AAT so even they must adhere to it
@rosepetal108 The Australian claimed sanctuary and the IWC designated sanctuary are two different things. The Australian claimed sanctuary really has nothing to do with the issue. Anti-whaling propagandists are the only one's who bring the Australian claimed sanctuary into the discussion.
@USDAChuckSteak "My logic is that SOME times (for SOME people) this issue IS about race"
And another thing, just because people SAY it's about race doesn't make it so. Being against dolphin hunts and whaling doesn't make someone racist. For instance, did you know that most Latin American Countries and South American Countries oppose whaling? They actually oppose whaling more than "Western" countries. Yet why don't the protesters above try to accuse them of racism? Because that strategy fails
@USDAChuckSteak "The Australian claimed sanctuary and the IWC designated sanctuary are two different things"
They are 2 different things, but some of the boundaries overlap. Japan's scientific whaling is still illegal because they fail to provide environmental assessments as well as logistic information, etc (Madrid Protocol). Not to mention refueling below the 60 degree line is illegal (Antarctic Treaty and Environmental laws).
@rcc1111 So what I said is true then right? The two sanctuaries are different.
Can you please explain the "provide environmental assessments as well as logistic information, etc (Madrid Protocol)"? Not sure what you are refering to.
I know the issue with the refuling. Is that an ongoing thing? Or was that the instance a couple of years ago that keeps being brought up?
@USDAChuckSteak "Can you please explain the "provide environmental assessments as well as logistic information, etc (Madrid Protocol)"? Not sure what you are refering to"
As stated by the Madrid Protocol and Antarctic Treaty. Any Scientific Expedition being conducted in the Antarctic must submit Environmental Impact Assessments as well as logistic information and anything of that nature. Japan has not done this, therefore, illegal shiz is goin' on there.
Are you blind? you approve of a propaganda cm to be used to accuse all of australia to be racist...you approve of a 10minute propaganda video accusing all australians of being white racist kangaroo hunting pig savages to be used to accuse all of australia to be racist...you approve of a video of a drunk australian idiot to be an example of how all australians are racist...
A video which confirms the decimation of countless species by European migration to a stolen continent has nothing to do with racism. Nor do videos which point out that in terms of numbers, European whalers are largely responsible for the depletion of whaling stocks.
Personally, I find your "victim" posturing as ridiculous as that of "Captain" Watson.

The people who made the commercial are mentally ill. Japan is not killing any of “our” (Australia’s) whales. They hunt only in international waters, which they have every right to.
DrunkyMcSwervencrash 5 months ago
@DrunkyMcSwervencrash

Keep an open mind.
maskeh 5 months ago
@maskeh
What are you saddened about? This is a response to the personal attacks on youtube showing propaganda against Australia! I am just showing the other side of the argument! I think you should keep an open mind!...if their was a white version of Nishimura organizing the same pathetic meaningless racist protests in a white country against asians...would you be concerned about what makes them so concerned or would you think it is what it is...racist?
sEiGoSaYgO 5 months ago 3
@sEiGoSaYgO I cannot believe you thought my comment was directed at you/your video, but thats fine.. :) In relation to the video, as i can both understand english and Japanese, the attitude of some of those protestors are unacceptable, even if they want to express their 'frustration' to the opposition. I would be concerned about both, in response to your question.
maskeh 5 months ago
But some part is very wrong,"whale sanctuary" is the regulation that was regulated by anti-whaling side,and Japan has no legal obligation to follow the rule.
"whale sanctuary"has no legal force.
gymikk 7 months ago
@gymikk In fact, the creation of the “whale sanctuary” violated IWC regulations – IWC regulations state that the creation of a sanctuary must be done on the basis of scientific information. The Southern sanctuary was created by vote, ignoring the IWC’s own scientific committee.
DrunkyMcSwervencrash 5 months ago
@gymikk the Whale Sanctuary does indeed have legal force. It was voted upon all the Nations within the IWC. It was passed by majority. The only country who did cast a vote against it was Japan, but even so because Japan is part of the IWC then they should still follow the rules and regulations like everyone else. They should not have some sort of special exemption.
MsCellaneousone 4 months ago

@sbo1111 The Ainu have been integrated with Japanese Society aka forced to assimilate dipshit. As a result most of their culture has been wiped out, heck there very own language is basically gone. It's true that the sea is exhausted. Whale numbers don't increase fast. It's just that they were wiped out and removed until recently.

@Logicbeatslies you can't explain any clearer but you don't have any valid argument. Nobody ever gave me any valid reason as to why Japan needs to stop whaling. Here are a few old arguments
1. Whales are in danger of extinction - Wrong, certain types of whales are not.
2. Whales are intelligent animals - Then I guess it's okay to kill retarted people
3. It's cruel to kill whales - it's cruel to kill any animal.
anything else ?
sbo1111 9 months ago
@sbo1111 Whaling is banned and without a ban there would have long since been no whales left at all.
If Japan is signatory to the ban, why are they whaling?
Your questions mean nothing to me. They were made up after the fact as an excuse. The corruption involved in Japan's whaling hierarchy is staggering. You would have a whole different set of questions if Japan could get away with more.
If Japan thinks they are killing sea cockroaches they are wrong!
Logicbeatslies 9 months ago
@Logicbeatslies Your opinions mean nothing to me either. Why are we whaling ? Do we need to explain everything we do ? @macaroonchiffon While much of the west is racist on the grassroots level politicians and elites love importing immigrants even though there are plenty of workers in Europe and America. @sbo1111 When I said that "I haven't seen ANY conservationist efforts by Japan at all." I was not talking about individuals or public opinions. Some are captured for zoos...but there are areas outside of Japan that others could be relocated to, where they are locally rare

It might also surprise you that the single biggest product whale oil was used for:.....
Yeah you guessed it.... Margarine
LMAO
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108 Can you tell me your source on this?
Honest question.
USDAChuckSteak 1 year ago
@USDAChuckSteak Source to which? I have a whole lot of sources I use.
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108 That the single biggest use of whale oil was for margarine.
USDAChuckSteak 1 year ago
@USDAChuckSteak I looked around and couldn't find the source, but I did find this:
. "The uses of whale products changed as time progressed. Towards the end of the 1800's, mineral oils from underground deposits and gas started to be used for lighting and so whale oil was no longer needed for these purposes There was still a great demand for whale oil that came from the blubber, but now in the main, this was used for making the finest soaps and also for the manufacture of margarine."
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@USDAChuckSteak I also found this in Wikipedia:
"Whale oil's predominant place in society was mostly eliminated with the development of kerosene from coal in 1846, and the discovery of petroleum drilling in the late 19th century, which led to petroleum-based waxes and oils replacing whale oils in most nonfood applications"
Still looking for my original source though.
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@USDAChuckSteak Still haven't found my original source but found this in Encyclopedia Britainnica.
"In the first half of the 20th century, whale oil’s applications broadened immensely. Premodern oil was inedible, but advances in chemistry allowed fresh oil to be hardened into a fat, which was used for margarine and soap until vegetable oil became a practical alternative in the late 1930s"
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@USDAChuckSteak Found it!
source: The history of modern Whaling
No easy quotes here because it is very detailed. However it explains how from 1910-1912 whale oil went from about 35% used for soap and edible fat (mostly low quality lard) to practically 100% for high quality margarine by 1929. Due mostly to increases in technology.
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108 So does that make it that MOST of the entire usage of whale oil throughout ALL of histroy was for margarine? Or just that the useage of whale oil shifted to margarine in that time frame? Again, just asking.
USDAChuckSteak 1 year ago
@USDAChuckSteak Nope, just in that time frame, and it dropped down after. However it is key because that time frame is also when the expansion happened that decimated the Southern Ocean Whales. At the peak 38% of all margarine was made from a blend of fish and whale oil. The % of whales used for meat was tiny at this time. (even the Japanese primarily extracted oil) It wasn't until after WWII when Japan started eating whale meat as a primary part of their diet (peak 40% of protein intake)
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108 Thanks for the info. Do you know the breakdown of what nations took what percentages of whales?
USDAChuckSteak 1 year ago
@USDAChuckSteak That also changed a lot over time. Various countries took the lead % wise depending on the era. The old open boat "Yankee Clipper" era saw either Britain or USA taking a higher % with Sweden and Norway right there some years. Once the modern Factory ship came into being, Norway dominated for over 30 years. Believe it or not, Peru became the dominant Sperm Whale producer for a while around WWII when the major powers were busy fighting a war. Japan dominated shortly after WWII.
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108 Thanks again.
USDAChuckSteak 1 year ago
@USDAChuckSteak Exact data is often hard to find for many reasons. Often a country like Norway would "lease" a whaling fleet to another country but the ships and crew remained Norway's. Other countries did the same. Thus they could operate out of a foreign port. Do you count this as Norway? or the country with the lease? Likewise Britain operating out of a commonwealth or colony, is it Britain? Or say South Africa doing the whaling?
Also early compiled records are hard to find.
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108 I lease a car and crash it; is it my fault or the person who leased it to me? IMO, If another country leases a fleet to whale then the onus is on the country leasing the fleet, not the fleet's home country. As for colonies, I feel they onus is on the "mother" country.
Also, I'm sure you know why Japan's commercial whaling exploded after WWII right?
USDAChuckSteak 1 year ago
@USDAChuckSteak The USA encouraged Japan to whale. It was a way to avoid starvation after a very destructive war.
rosepetal108 1 year ago

The only true solution is for Japan to become conservationists and help restore healthy oceans.
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108 Why is compromise silly? If Japan agreed to hunt say....400 non-endangered whales in the SO every year wouldn't that be a good compromise?
And the issue is you want Japan to lead conservation as YOU see fit.
USDAChuckSteak 1 year ago
Japan has the most to gain of any nation if conservation measures bring back the health of the Ocean. Japan has also the most to loose if conservation is ignore. The rest of the world shouldn't be fighting with Japan to use wisdom. Japan should be leading the way!
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108
Interesting wording, however mired in irony. Conservation measures were ignored by Western countries which participated in unprecedented slaughter of whales for oil, and Japan lost part of her food supply as a consequence of this Western irresponsibility.
seseljsrs 1 year ago
@seseljsrs See that's where you are simply wrong. While it is true all share some guilt in the over harvet of whales. The western countries in general saw the error of their ways far sooner than Japan. In fact the single biggest abuser of whaling stocks was Japan. No other country even comes close.
Abusers were always Japan and Russia, or Japan and Germany, or Japan and USA, or Japan and Norway, or Japan and Sweden, depending on what period of history. That oil thing is propaganda.
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108
"That oil thing is propaganda".
No, it's not. Unless you want to believe institutions like Collections Australia make propaganda against themselves.
See for example:

seseljsrs 1 year ago
@seseljsrs Japan was one of the biggest producers AND consumers of whale oil my friend. For almost everything the west had alternatives. Japan being low on natural resources had no cheap dependable alternatives. It was especially critical just prior to WWII when Japan and Germany were by FAR the biggest consumers of special high grade whale oil for industry. And of course both nations totally ignored any quotas or regulations during this time as well. That's what I mean by "propaganda"
rosepetal108 1 year ago 12
@rosepetal108 I often hear the"whale oil propaganda myself. While it is true that Western Nations did use whale for oil, what many Japanese people are misunderstanding (Thanks to the Japanese Whaling Association) that many other parts of the whale was also used to make other products. For instance whale bones were used to make a variety of items including, though not limited to, corsets. The baleen part of the whale was also used to make brushes, etc. The meat was usually eaten too!
WhaleNowOrDie 1 year ago
@WhaleNowOrDie Yes it is true that USA and other western countries ate some whale meat. It wasn't all that popular or common though. (except with native populations) More like an unusual "gourmet" item. Kinda like escargot. Usually the meat went to feed other animals. But the whole whale was used. (or most of it)
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108 I agree with this. Unfortunately, it's just as morally wrong to try to force your opinion onto others as it is to ignore wisom about conservation.
USDAChuckSteak 1 year ago
@USDAChuckSteak So a compromise? Japan keeps its opinion that whaling is morally right and even still whales to a limited extent when it is appropriate. BUT Japan takes the lead in conservation of the Oceans and Whales specifically?
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108 While that sounds great you and I both know neither "side" will agree on the details of such a compromise. Because the "limited extent" to whaling and the "take the lead" on conservation are not anything already set in stone. It's a bit arbatrary because you want Japan to take the lead and whale to YOUR standards while Japan wants to do it to their standards. See where the details get sticky?
USDAChuckSteak 1 year ago
@USDAChuckSteak yeah and one detail is that Sea Shepherds are against all whaling period. So they will never agree to conservation.
However it is a valid strategy. You force the Sea Shepherds to take a position of fighting against the conservation of the oceans. That removes a major portion of their support.
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108 True. Have you seen the wiki leaks about the possible agreement countries like Australia, the US and Japan supposedly tried to come to that would allow a return to full blown commercial whaling with set quotas? If (a big if) that is true then it is a step in the right direction that fanitical groups like the SSCS and it's supporters will derial.

It's kind of amazing how you dropped your jovial persona below for a somewhat less tolerant one in your latest post.
Difficult to see how such postings serve to support your accusations of McCarthyism, besides your pretense of jocularity.
seseljsrs 1 year ago
@seseljsrs I'd say your views are almost identical to the McCarthyist way of thinking. Using ignorance, xenophobia and fear to your benefit in order to accuse someone of something they're not so you can silence all arguments and opposition. Sure McCarthy used Communism as a scapegoat back in the day to silence people, but your using the same tactics, except with different terms.Your accusations of racism terrorism imperialism and colonialism are ridiculous and transparent as well as hypocritical
rcc1111 1 year ago
@rcc1111
Whatever makes an LOL hahaha person feel vindicated. The problem for eco-terror apologists however, is the reality that the charge of racism is supported by documented evidence compiled daily through the activities of the eco-terrorists and the governments who support them - the Real Sea Shepherd. Whether we talk about the duplicity of a policy which attempts to attribute historical responsibility for whale population depletion to Japan, or disguise imperialism as conservation.
seseljsrs 1 year ago
@seseljsrs You accept the idea of racism in groups like Green Peace and SSCS, because it's easier to swallow. Are there racists in Australia? Yes, no one is denying that fact, not even this video, there are racists in Japan too, but you don't accept that fact? There are racists in every country... But what should be examined by you people is the fact that you pro-whaling idiots often cry racism while at the same time being racist. That's called being a hypocrite!
rcc1111 1 year ago
@rcc1111
Racist.
seseljsrs 1 year ago
@rcc1111 But sometimes it IS about racism. Right? So those "crying" racism aren't always the idiots.
USDAChuckSteak 1 year ago
@USDAChuckSteak "But sometimes it IS about racism. Right?"
The problem with your logic is, it's not an entire country, like Australia, or an entire organization like Green Peace or the SSCS being racist, but individuals. Is it right for me to condemn Japan as a racist country for assaulting ethnic Koreans, Chinese, and other minorities because of a small fraction of people doing it? Of course not. The people who are crying racism are idiots, if they don't realize that, which they don't...
rcc1111 1 year ago
@rcc1111 My logic is that SOME times (for SOME people) this issue IS about race. I made that pretty clear. Did I say and entire country like Australia or an entire org like GP or SSCs are racist? Let me check.....nope I sure didn't.
So the problem is not with my logic....but yours.
USDAChuckSteak 1 year ago
@USDAChuckSteak "My logic is that SOME times (for SOME people) this issue IS about race"
Yet you support a protest, like the one above, which condemns an entire country and declares that said is racist just because they're against Commercial Whaling?
rcc1111 1 year ago
@rcc1111 Where did I support any protest like the one above?
USDAChuckSteak 1 year ago
Ironically the longer Japan allows this kind of drama to continue, the more & more support to stop ALL whaling. Japan can not win this issue because even the most foolish politician on the planet will never support removing the Sanctuary. Once established, wildlife parks almost never get turned into a commercial zone. That includes parks all over the world! Why should a marine park be any different?
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108
What you describe as "ironic" is what you hope for. It's like saying "the longer Japan resists the great Watson Paul, the sooner whaling willing crumble".
Your comments about politicians, however, are ironic in a sense, I'll grant that. For example, where is that eco-freak Rudd now?
seseljsrs 1 year ago
@seseljsrs Hahahahaha No dude, I am a conservationist. Old school right wing conservative.
You know the kind? The Kind that proudly eats my saved from extinction Alligator in a nice Jambalaya with shrimp n Lobster I scooped out of the water myself? Then goes to my own personal Organic Garden to pick a tomato to put on my saved from extinction Buffalo hamburger to take with me hunting?
None of which would have been possible without strong conservation laws including game sanctuaries.
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108
Your wording suggests that your lifestyle choices are protected by conservation laws as much as, if not more than, the species in question. If so, then you shouldn't have any problem with whaling. Unless of course it's all about the other guy using the same arguments as yourself.
seseljsrs 1 year ago
@seseljsrs I said it over and over. I have no problem with whaling in principle....I have a HUGE problem with Japans (or any other countries) state sponsored poaching in the whale sanctuary
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108
I have a problem with the declaration of a whale sanctuary in foreign territory which is simply a guise for imperialist ambition. Let's declare a kangaroo sanctuary on Oz territority and see what your Anglo-Irish land-stealing cousins say about it.
seseljsrs 1 year ago
@seseljsrs Don't you mean anti-imperialism? After all, Japan is the one going to a foreign territory (1,000's of miles away) and attempting to exploit the resources (whales) there.
Japan is and always was one of the most aggressive Imperialist Nations.
I think it might have even started a war once upon a time. (correct me if I am wrong)
;-)
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108
You are opposed to those fishing rights, and in a nutshell, that in great explains the opposition to Japan's marine harvesting in general.
seseljsrs 1 year ago
@seseljsrs The reason so many people are against Japans marine harvesting in general is:
Japanese fishing industry as a whole is very destructive due to over harvest.The worlds Oceans could easily feed 20 Japans, but once you collapse a population, it may be up to10's - 100's of years before that population can support anyone at all.
The rest of the world is slowly realizing this wisdom, while Japan as a culture still thinks Oceans are unlimited.
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108
While many countries complain about Japanese consumption of tuna, for example, they do not stop their fisheries from exporting to Japan.
seseljsrs 1 year ago
@seseljsrs LOL My BS meter just went off the scale with that post. LMAO
In this particular case it really doesn't matter about Japans culture. If you collapse the population of any species it can takes ages before ANYONE can eat ANYTHING from that population.
On the other hand if you take wisely from a species, then it will feed you for ages. The more species you collapse the more pressure remaining on the other food species. Eventually you run out of species to eat.
That's the danger.
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108
Instead, they want to see Japan turn into a country which is less and less connected to her traditional diet.
seseljsrs 1 year ago
@seseljsrs I didn't know that Japan had a culture of whaling all the way in the Antarctic....Tell me, did they start doing that like 1000 years ago when they were still isolated from the world?
Lol your BS on culture is ridiculous. While some Japanese TOWNS, did have a culture of whaling, the majority of Japan itself did not practice it. And even then, whaling itself was usually kept at Coastal Waters. Japan began whaling in the outside during the 20th century, the same as the rest of the world
rcc1111 1 year ago
@seseljsrs hahahahaha I thought you needed some basic ABC's of common sense conservation because your posts prior to this showed a purposeful lack of knowledge in this area.
So tell me then if you are so grounded in the ABC's of common sense conservation, why are you verbally jousting with me? Also please answer me why Japan has formally objected to, or ignored every attempt at conservation IWC has every passed?
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108
There you go again, hahaha etc.
The opposition to Japan's research whaling is essentially an objection to Japan's compliance with IWC agreements, so your overt suggestion of Japan ignoring IWC conventions is not acceptable. Japan is conducting research whaling in accord with agreements reached previously through the IWC. Although there have been proposals to modify or change existing agreements, this is more about countries playing politics rather than being serious.
seseljsrs 1 year ago
@seseljsrs Funny you should bring up a quote from the greatest American President in recent times, Ronald Reagan. The same President that got sick of Japan's non-compliance with conservation efforts BS and nailed Japan with economic sanctions.

seseljsrs 1 year ago
@rosepetal108
The fact remains, however, that Japan's whaling is legal, and approved by the IWC.
seseljsrs 1 year ago
@seseljsrs absolutely not. I would NOT like to see any sanctions at all. But the emphasis is on Nation to nation diplomacy instead of these ever more dangerous clashes with SCSS.
What I would like to see is Japan take its true leadership role seriously and champion the environment and whale regulation.
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108
Whaling=Japan in US media.
seseljsrs 1 year ago
@seseljsrs Even the Sanctions by Ronald Reagan were called off almost immediately. The point is no one is wanting to hurt Japan but Japan refuses to listen to a polite kind word. Don't you think it would be far better for everyone concerned including Japan?
Seriously, 19+ resolutions ignored? (some say over 30) And for what? So Japan can foolishly ignore conservation measures that help them above all other nations? It is almost as bad as trying to get a child to go to the dentist!
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108
The videomaker knows this but he equates recent reactions of a fringe group in Japan with decades of agitprop.
seseljsrs 1 year ago
@seseljsrs If you want to lump together other sanctions to avoid the issue of whaling fine. That's your choice. However, I am no Japan hater. Quite the opposite actually. First truck I ever owned was a Datsun (Nissan) Last one I bought new from the showroom was a Toyota. My best friend has a ceremonial Samarai sword given to his grandfather for restoring electricity to Japan after the war. I have studied Japanese history just as a hobby. I was even a commercial fisherman. (buyers were Japan)
rosepetal108 1 year ago
@rosepetal108

@rosepetal108
No, that's where you're wrong. The Southern Ocean is only one of many oceans with a history of whaling. The racist terrorists, or as you call them, "activists", have clarified their anti-Japanese position to the point that anti-whaling and anti-Japanese are synonymous.
What's not so clear is the position of the various governments which support the terrorists, some going so far as to take Japan to the ICJ, also lobby for Japanese investment and market liberalisation.
seseljsrs 1 year ago

Conservationists don't set policy, governments do, the kind which support Shep - aka
the Real Sea Shepherd.
seseljsrs 1 year ago
@seseljsrs "indeed if you are a powerful colonial empire like Oz then you most certainly want to keep rivals as far away from your stolen booty as possible"
First of all OZ was never a large Colonial Power, that would be Britain, Germany, France, the US, and Japan. Secondly the AAT is actually protected by the Antarctic Treaty, what other countries don't recognize (especially Japan) is the AAT's territorial waters.
PS Dokdo is Korea's
rcc1111 1 year ago
@rcc1111
Oz is a large colonial power, just look at the map.
Second, the Southern Ocean is not Australian territory, and the AAT is all the evidence one needs of Oz ambitions.
PS last point is irrelevant to the discussion, not that I'd expect anything better from someone defending
Oz imperialism and the AAT.
seseljsrs 1 year ago
@seseljsrs "Oz is a large colonial power, just look at the map"
So just because Australia is a large country that means it's a colonial power? Lol that doesn't make any sense, if that were the case countries like Brazil, China, Russia, and India would be counted as colonial powers! In order to be a colonial power a country must establish a colony or imperialize another country. In this day and age Imperialism is almost never practiced and is not exactly tolerated. Get out of the dark ages!
rcc1111 1 year ago
@rcc1111
Stick with lol hahaha, it makes about as much sense as the above post. Such an absurd cretin.
seseljsrs 1 year ago
@seseljsrs "Second, the Southern Ocean is not Australian territory"
That is what many countries are contesting. However a sanctuary has been set up there, not just by Australia, but by the IWC as well. Japan is the only whaling country which illegally hunts there, even Norway doesn't hunt in the Sanctuary. But if Norway was to hunt in the Sanctuary instead of Japan, then you can bet your ass that anti-whalers would be protesting against them. But Norway isn't whaling there, Japan is.
rcc1111 1 year ago
@rcc1111
The AAT is, as I already wrote, a declaration of imperialism. Dolling it up by claiming it's "all about the whales" is just more cynicism. It's simply an extension of NATO's human rights imperialism, which in turn is a co-opting of Hitler's imperialism. This is hardly an accident, when you look at Oz's history with dispossessing aborigines and taking their land, forcing children into missionary schools, enacting eugenics policies and experiments and so on?
seseljsrs 1 year ago
@seseljsrs "And the AAT is all the evidence one needs of Oz ambitions"
So basically your saying that the AAT is evil because it protects all territorial claims made prior to the implementation, meaning that all claims made by countries like France, NZ, Australia, Chile are all protected, but suspended. Well bub that's the law, and fortunately Japan is a signatory to the AAT so even they must adhere to it
rcc1111 1 year ago
@rcc1111
I already wrote that the AAT is evidence of imperialism and Australian/UK territorial ambitions.

Because that strategy fails
rcc1111 1 year ago
@USDAChuckSteak "The Australian claimed sanctuary and the IWC designated sanctuary are two different things"
They are 2 different things, but some of the boundaries overlap. Japan's scientific whaling is still illegal because they fail to provide environmental assessments as well as logistic information, etc (Madrid Protocol). Not to mention refueling below the 60 degree line is illegal (Antarctic Treaty and Environmental laws).
rcc1111 1 year ago
@rcc1111 So what I said is true then right? The two sanctuaries are different.

USDAChuckSteak 1 year ago
@USDAChuckSteak "Can you please explain the "provide environmental assessments as well as logistic information, etc (Madrid Protocol)"? Not sure what you are refering to"
As stated by the Madrid Protocol and Antarctic Treaty. Any Scientific Expedition being conducted in the Antarctic must submit Environmental Impact Assessments as well as logistic information and anything of that nature. Japan has not done this, therefore, illegal shiz is goin' on there.
