I would NEVER propose under those circumstances. However, even if she doesn't want to marry the guy, at the very least I would expect the dude's girlfriend to say "yes" in front of 10-20,000 people. Once they're off the court, if she doesn't want to be engaged and/or resents being put on the spot, they can discuss it and whatnot. It's not like they just signed a legally binding agreement.
