I'm sure Joan Crawford was a wonderful woman, actress and to some extent mother. I doubt it very seriously that she was perfect in her personally life. She may not have been the totally monster, but she had flaws like everyone else. As the public we have a responsibilty to the artist to decide whats fact and fiction. Such a public figure would never admit to any wrong doing if given the chance and image was more important to her than anything. We must keep that all in mind. The good and bad.
I'm 45 now, and it's still about the most frightening thing in the world to see Park Avenue socialite and movie star Joan Crawford driving her American automobile. I must have been about 5 when I began watching soaps and back then Rod Serling's Night Gallery was on our color television on Friday nights with guests for coffee and Sarah Lee cake. She is a true legend. Thank you for this clip from The Sixth Sense, it was worth living to middle age to see her one more time.
It's Saturday night @ 10pm Eastern time you're on ABC TV and they're only 3 channels to watch. Opposite at this time slot was CBS's Mission Impossible, or the second half of an NBC movie of the week. What would you have chosen?
My favorites epidodes of "the sixth sense" are "The house who cried murder", "The heart that wouldn't stay buried", "Five widows weeping", "Gallows in the wind", "Coffin, coffin in the sky", "And Scream by the Light of the Moon, the Moon"
One of the most afraid serie ever made
La série qui m'a traumatisée quand j'étais enfant !
I humbly worship at the shrine of JOAN CRAWFORD - In the scene were the very privileged young actress walks into Joan's room and NO WORDS are spoken until she exits the scene, Also the slight homage to GREAT FILM NOIR(era gone) cinematography ... capturing Joan's heavily made-up eyes in that scene and underlining her beauty in faded colors of black & gray, GENIUS!!!! BRAVO!!!!
WOW. I must have seen this in 1977 or '78, when I was 3 or 4 years old.
I was never able to remember (or find out) the name of the show, the actress, etc., despite searching over the years.
Seeing this again triggered SO many childhood memories, and the added surprise of realizing that the actress I remembered so vividly was actually Joan Crawford was really cool (I'm a HUGE fan). Anyway, thank you SO MUCH for posting this!!
Wow, I almost forgot how big cars were back then, how my father managed to drive those boats is amazing to me now. I learned to drive in a '76 Oldsmobile, and that was not easy!
@KURISUCHRIS99 - and Christina was living off of her Mother, then in her 20's and 30's, meeting all of Joan's friends and contacts (that Joan arranged for) and it was never enough. Christina didn't find anything Joan did to be offensive, as long as Joan said, "Yes" and gave her what she wanted. The first time Joan said, "No...enough." she became the evil creature that Christina made up. Pathetic, really.
i know it is pathetic, christina was living off joan, and when joan was her age she was SUPPORTING her own mother and brother, joan never gets credit for ANYTHING.
@Alvin4NY I disagree with you 100%. There is some truth to what Christina says in her book. You can't honestly believe that Joan, a woman who loved ALL her children so much and wanted them so much that she simple forgot to add her 2 oldest kids to her will? Really? C'mon. The twins arent complaining cause they got everything. What did Chris and Christiana do that was so awful to make Joan disown them? Nothing. As somone said before its like she unadopted them. That is cruel.
She looks fabulous! Got to get this on DVD

Joan always had the most intriguing, dramatic eyes. I never got tired of looking at her.
She was one of the all-time best actresses, bar none.

Yeah, yeah, yeah....While Joan was walking on water, Christina was busy telling everyone it was because Joan couldn't swim! "Pathetic" is right!

This was among the few Supernatural TV series of the early 1970s,durring the
time of "NIGHT GALLERY"-which,ironicly,its episodes were included in the
syndicated version,,but "THE SIXTH SENSE" sure deserved another season
on ABC-TV,after its last episode aired around Dec.1972. the re-editing that
MCA/Universal did on this series, with the NIGHT GALLERY package-was very
bad! now,at some point,,it's hoped that NBC Universal will make this series
availible on DVD,,one day!
