  • record exec and mangs are scum, they screwed him over

  • She doesn't mention the $1000's of dollars her husband, Norman Petty, stole from Buddy and was the major reason he had to take the horrible concert tour that took his life. I would be ashamed to show my face..

  • some people will never get to enjoy and understand great music, which is unfortunate, but you know Buddy and others are definitely appreciated by peoplethat count like most rock n rollers of the 60s- even the famous Beatles loved and covered his music! Paul even bought the rights to Buddy's music to make sure it wasnt used in commericials and ruined by terrible cover versions.

  • How come hollywood doesnt make movies on buddy or richie or elvis about there lives........ Just like walk the line?????

  • @EresAmada00 Gary Busey was nominated for an Oscar in 1978 for the Buddy Holly Story. Lou Diamond Phillips played Ritchie Valens in the smash hit 1987 movie La Bamba..and there have been tons of movies and biographies on Elvis Presley. Hopefully there will be a movie about Eddie Cochran one day

  • @rbound827 They're making a Movie About J.P "The Big Bopper" Richardson YAY!

  • @EresAmada00 Watch "The Buddy Holly Story" (1978) Gary Busey plays Buddy, and "La Bamba" (1987) Lou Diamond Phillips plays Ritchie Valens - both good films. I can't find The Buddy Holly Story on youtube (just this biography), but La Bamba is still up on youtube. And youtube also has "Great Balls of Fire!" about Jerry Lee Lewis.

  • @vagtasticone All three films you mention are amazing, everybody must see them even if you aren't into the music. Awesome films

  • But, I can really tell you for certain is that there'll forever, ever and ever again be another John Denver, just like there'll forever and ever again be another Buddy Holly!!! :) :) :)

  • mrjasondylan, your case doesn't fly. ABBA sold over 350 million units by 2007. if you kiddies can't play nice, don't play at all.

  • rock was born in the 50's and died in the 90's.

  • @babalvg ROCK MUSIC still lives 'cause your never too old too Rock & Roll.

  • @drummer4theperish lol you're right, but what I meant is that since the 90's there hasn't been one decent rock band in the world. It's all electronic, with auto tunes and etc..

  • @babalvg You should check this out then...

search "Inside I Rust - the Perish" on YT.

  • just for the record another FACT -all time overall record sales beatles 246 million -elvis 197 million,FACT that makes them the biggest selling musical act of all time just like i said in the first place.next time do your homework before you throw around silly comments like the beatles suck, i rest my case mr JACOBRESTER

  • FACT-elvis was recording from 1955-1977 = 22 years the beatles 1962-1970 = 8 years do the math big difference there einstein !!!!!

  • @controversyking they decided against using the name the Beetles, not Beatles(john lennons idea of a musical in-joke), as JI said he didnt want to be in a band named after "some little black bug you step on" so they went with Crickets as they liked the description in their insect book that said "crickets are romantically referred to as making 'music' by rubbing their hind legs together" ... this is according to "Buddy: The Biography" by Philip Norman

  • paul and the beatles took from alot of influces at least they took from the best there was

  • BUDDY IS THE FIRST BEATLE!!!

  • I wouldn't say R&R was dying. It was changing directions. My father-in-law was a musician and had his own band. At first he couldn't stand the Beatles but as they progressed he was amazed by their music.

  • In the end I believe Buddy was having 'problems' recieving royalties for his hits....this led to him doing that horrible tour which killed him. Thanks Norman.

  • @clean3 'He had to own it'.....their words not mine, Petty had his name on everything....it's an outrage really. Apologists will say 'oh well, he helped Buddy get off the ground'....someone that brilliant is gonna make it eventually, unfortunately, there's got to be some vampire involved.

  • 135 mph??? GEEEEZ

  • Not ALL youth's hate Buddy Holly and love the Jonas Brother's, i'm 14 and i think the Jonas Brother's are awful, Buddy Holly rocks!

  • @50sguy1 right on man! Good for u. Ur quite young and have good taste already.

  • im so disheartened by youth who have told me buddy holly was a nerd who had no good lyrics ! i mean, do they understand this was one of the men who made rock and roll?

  • @kagoshimaenglish well, these are the same "youths" who helped make the Jonas Bros. and Hannah Montana stars, so I'd take it with a grain of salt.

  • i agree with you. Buddy holly would've been immaculate in his time, surpassing the beatles and whatnot. And yes, the beatles suck. He really did help start rock n roll, along with Elvis. I can only imagine what his songs would've sounded like in the later years

  • @roflgoodgame the beatles suck eh! thats a real genius statement, the biggest selling musical act of all time.what the hell i guess its not even worth replying to that kind of statement

  • @mrjasondylan Fact: Top 40 Hits Elvis Presley ....104 Top 40 Hits the Beatles....56

The Beatles are far from the best selling act of all time

  • @roflgoodgame Actually, Rock 'n' Roll was dying out in the mid 60s due to "folk rock." If it wasn't for the Beatles and the "British Invasion" Rock 'n' Roll would have completely died out.

  • @kagoshimaenglish kids today dont know shit .They were real musicians, they didnt use some machine to make beats.most guys today steal there music.

  • @kagoshimaenglish it's because they think Swearing, Sex, Money, & All that bad stuff is good lyrics & they think Eminem And Rap is Actually Godd Music! HAHAHA i mean that so stupid

  • @kagoshimaenglish Excuse my vulgar words but, kids today have grown up with shit covered in whip cream. I think that statment alone tells you what music is like today. I am 26 years old and find myself listening to the older but better music of the past, the worst part is, it will only get worse as time goes on, to a point where unitellagable lyrics are popular and songs that come off a production line are No1 hits, and it's 'not cool' to play a instrument. Very sad.

  • Think it over.......

  • The Beatles first recording was Buddy Holly's "That'll Be the Day" That is why it is almost the same. The Beatles got the idea to write their own music from Buddy!

  • there is a old Beatles' version of this song and it is almost the same

  • 8:20 love that diagonal zipper collar.
