halo was going to be an RTS released simultaneously on mac os and windows. however later it was changed to an over the shoulder shooter and you played as marines. later on bugnie was acquired by Microsoft and development was moved to the xbox console (fact: the xbox was created from a joke, the directx box). after rewriting the code and revamping various elements we got the halo of today, there is no proof of a halo on ps2 and this footage comes from the early mac prototype.

This was early development of the first Halo before Bungie started working with Microsoft, and Microsoft told them to make it an Xbox and PC exclusive, so it never came to PS2. Which, in my opinion, is a good thing, seeing as the fact that it gave the Xbox one of it's greatest exclusives of all time.

But then one day, Microsoft called up Bungie, and told them about a huge project they were working on (The original Xbox), and wanted them to make Halo an exclusive for the system. It was never going to be put on a sony console, and sadly for some, never will. Microsoft owns the rights to Halo now.

What happen was, Bungie was a sister company of Take-two interactive, and they were developing Halo for Apple Mac's and Sony PS2, but they sold some of their company to Microsoft in '99 because of the development of the XBOX. As a result, Bungie completely revamped the design of the game to appeal to console gamers.
