@squ51 lenny sold to guitar center for something around $645,000 something, and number 1 haha i dont think any1 knows exactly where it is lol it might be locked u tight with Jimmy.
$850,000 for Blackie?! WOW!!!! Talk about breaking records!!! JESUS H. CHRIST!!!!! All for a great cause! Looks like I named my son after the right person. Eric is a great man to auction off some of his prize poessions for a wonderfull cause.
pisses me off as well that they get this jerk to narrate it. "Im not gonna bid, cuz the prices are steep, especially since i cant even play a single chord on a guitar!" what a fucking jerk. why dont they get someone who understands the passion a musician has with an instrument or just the wonderful feelings you get and the inspiration to write that comes from a new instrument, etc... instead they have baby huey walking around lost as can be, talking about stuff he has no business talking about
@matthayas nah i would buy a bunch of strats from differnt pawn shops and build my own. the idea was good, but id want my own frankenstein. Id love to have a strat again. i used to have a cheap one but if you know how to play you can make it shine. I sold it for 75 dollars for drugs. One of the worst things i could have done. Pisses me off when i think about it. anyway id like to save up and get another strat, from a pawn shop because thats where the last one went .
Guitar Center was allowed buy Blackie and have Fender replicate her on the stipulation that a percent of the proceeds go to the Crossroads Centre. Actually anything with Clapton's name on it has the same stipulation.
Blackie and Cherry Red are on display at Guitar Center in LA
The uncool, non-muso, dork reporter reflects the majority of the video's audience! The result is a comprehensive insight into the event without OTT sentimentality, which would be the danger from a salivating fan/reporter.
If you don't 'get it' as to why the guitars are worth the money (most important living guitarist, the fact that the money goes to Eric's charity etc) why bother advertising it, you idiots.
Why he hasn't been knighted yet? He certainly deserves to be known as Sir Eric Clapton.
I really don't understand the hoopla with all his guitars or most famous guitars. Just because someone picks a guitar up and plays it it's worth 1000 times more. I don't understand the attraction is to many of these guitars that sell for 100,000 plus. Especially when many of these where unseen by the public previously.

Blackie sold for almost a million dollars. What a joke. I mean seriously, I understand that yuppies love Eric Clapton, but WTF. This guitar although used all the time by Clapton really wasn't used in anything revolutionary or groundbreaking. This guitar doesn't show any extraordinary evolutionary growth in music.
How could Clapton's, who's still alive, be worth more than Hendrix's strats or anyone of that caliber of that fame who has past?
your right i should explain, but first i NEVER said that a guitar is worth 1,000,000 dollars, i agree with you tht thats to much money for a guitar. Your an idiot becasue you said that it wasnt used in anything groundbreaking or revolutionary! he kept the blues alive in england, and when/where was blackie first played(and played for a long time?: LONDON, england, he influenced many to play the blues and every time somone saw a black strat with a maple neck people say "Thats like Claptons'.
If you watch the clip on youtube : The Eric Clapton BLACKIE® Stratocaster® Guitar -
(that's the original clip that Fender made when they replicated Blackie) - You'll notice that the Fender Director of Purchasing Michael Doyle says that Fender left the guitar the same as how they got it from CHRISTIE'S. BUT the clip shows the date October 24, 2005 and Blackie had already been sold in 2004. Does anybody know how to explain this "mistery" ??
It`s a fucking shame he parted with Blackie. Can`t understand it. That guitar was with him during heaven and hell. Now it lies in a bloody locker with a rich guy. Almost breaks my heart....
It was sold to Guitar Centre, who let Fender replicate it, producing that limited custom shop line of Blackie replicas. And I'm pretty sure Guitar Centre wouldn't just keep it locked up. I'm guessing they've probably put it on display somewhere.
I hope that the people who bought the guitars are locking them in or something cause those guitars are special. Eric Clapton is not just a musician he´s an artist.
never mind i did some research and found ou that they have never sold Stevies number one the guitar in this vid is one of the fender custom shop relics
They don't mention it in this video, but Eric was at this auction; he looked very pleased. The whole thing was pretty exciting. Thanks so much for posting!
I agree, a good cause. but who in the hell can make their way to Antigua to go through rehab? I need to read about it more, but it seems to me it is a bit of an elitist slice of rehab. am I wrong?
I want to see what Number One and Lenny went for...

that was'nt blackie unless they changed the pick guard.

why?

blackie has always had a white pickguard he only called it blackie because of the finish surronding the pickguard
darthdude1016 2 years ago
thats a custom shop replica, the real blackie has a extra screw above the pickup.
fifties pick guards don't have that extra screw.

The ES-335 and Blackie are priceless in my opinion. I think it must have been hard to depart from his most cherished guitars.
If I bought one I'd feel like I'd have to give it back...
Oh well, at least he's still playing really well... It's all that matters to me, the music..
