That's far from true. Canada helped bolster the defences of Great Britain in both World Wars when they were apart of the British empire. They fought in the Battle of Britain for the RAF and served alongside a lot of good Australian and Polish troops.
I mean they still are apart of it, technically, but more apart of the Commonwealth now, than empire.
