My god, I love that fucking rhythym. You Who fans know what i'm talking about, that foot tapping feeling that's irristable, and that air drumming temptation for you Keith Moon fans.
soooooo fucking awesome, i love seeing and hearing The Who's earlier songs. this is probably skeriously the 10 th time i've watched this video. I CAN'T EXPLAIN HOW GOOD IT IS
They so loved Motown especially Pete. To hear Townshend in interviews talk about Motown songs is really touching. He found those songs magical and they really inspired him.
At one time the Who were so overlooked but frankly everything from Tommy on Sucks to me. This sound has a great groove. And I don't have to put up Daltry's bombastic vocals. Listen the the Who Sellout .. How did they get Daltry to sing that so well? It's not such a weird version of Smokey .. just a little MODified and no windmills from Pete. Hey Pete if you do windmills aren't you leaving out some notes and chords, right?
@williamg2552 only thing weird about it's that you thought you were gonna blow some minds by dropping that bit of info. the whole mod scene was borne of brit kids covering american soul hits, so there's nothing weird at all about this.
were the dancing mods cut and spliced here...or simultaneous moving folk, as the band played.i suspect the film crew spliced and editied to create the film they wanted to make. always thought the junky, ex of the libertines, looks like the poor old sod what managed the oo, kit lambert. lambert made this film with lover stamp. so very glad someone was around to record this.
It blows me away to think that these four young lads playing a little dinky club are the same guys that stole the show at Woodstock just 5 years later!
Cuz they looked cool you fool! Pete would wear them occasionally too, haha.
Roger never really got into drugs early on. The whole group took amphedamines for a short time but Roger stopped quickly and eventually got the whole group off of them.
don't forget that Keith died taking the pills that were supposed to get him off booze and drugs, Roger was super pissed at the doctor for that one, cuz the doctor didn't give him a proper doseage. Keith dieing was just as bad as when John Bonom (spellcheck) died
This is f@#king gold dust! The sound is so raw and real,Moonies drums sounds so solid! That beautiful Rickenbacher guitar! SWEEEEEEEEET! I've got this on my who dvd 'amazing story' it's brilliant!
I guess know that the Railway Hotel was where Pete Townsend stuck his guitar in the ceiling by accident..got angry and finished the job off properly. A guitar breaking legend was born here!

Have the "fans' of this truly crap and vastly overrated crew never heard the Miracles' original? This is downright embarrassing in comparison...
drwhatson 5 months ago
@drwhatson Calling 'The Who' "crap" and "overrated" is just doing music wrong entirely.
mothernaturecockbloc 2 months ago
@drwhatson I personally prefer this version. Don't get me wrong, the Miracles' version is superb. But I prefer the vocals of Roger Daltrey.
