  • this video reminds me of the likes hes not a boy video

  • Pure Energy!!!

  • I was nine years old... here in Hawai'i. But wish I were there at that time.

  • What a great band . The Scene ,Flamingo,The last Chance and all those pubs around n london etc. Good times

  • Roger had a wonderful voice ! Pete and John incredible and Keith ... it's Keith !

  • Have the "fans' of this truly crap and vastly overrated crew never heard the Miracles' original? This is downright embarrassing in comparison...

  • @drwhatson Calling 'The Who' "crap" and "overrated" is just doing music wrong entirely.

  • @drwhatson I personally prefer this version. Don't get me wrong, the Miracles' version is superb. But I prefer the vocals of Roger Daltrey.

  • did they ever release this song as part of any record?

  • Four people can't dance.

  • Moon should of been called the octopus. I love the beat at the beginning. Fucking love it. RIP

  • Fantastic

  • nothing weird about about this mate

  • My god.. This is what music is suppose to be about! Happiness.. Look at Keith, singing along.

  • Seen this on The Who's Amazing Journey DVD - Apparently this film was found in a skip !!!!!!!

  • @vesparadogts they also have THE WHO's AMAZING JOURNEY on iTunes

  • My god, I love that fucking rhythym. You Who fans know what i'm talking about, that foot tapping feeling that's irristable, and that air drumming temptation for you Keith Moon fans.

  • entwistle's gorgeous

  • Totally MOD!!

  • Who the Fuck is this? I ask: Who?

  • very rare who. thanks for sharing that "maximum R&B"

  • moon so precious.awesome

  • moon so precious,..awesome

  • moon so precious......................awesome

  • daltrey is a good front man as a punk

  • could you send it to me??!! thnx =j

  • soooooo fucking awesome, i love seeing and hearing The Who's earlier songs. this is probably skeriously the 10 th time i've watched this video. I CAN'T EXPLAIN HOW GOOD IT IS

  • epitome of cool

  • Liked them much better than the who

  • Quality!!

  • I like the who's version the best!! its british rock at its best

  • @Terrilliser this is The Who. they changed their name.

  • They so loved Motown especially Pete. To hear Townshend in interviews talk about Motown songs is really touching. He found those songs magical and they really inspired him.

  • What a treasure trove!!

  • piece of history!

  • At one time the Who were so overlooked but frankly everything from Tommy on Sucks to me. This sound has a great groove. And I don't have to put up Daltry's bombastic vocals. Listen the the Who Sellout .. How did they get Daltry to sing that so well? It's not such a weird version of Smokey .. just a little MODified and no windmills from Pete. Hey Pete if you do windmills aren't you leaving out some notes and chords, right?

  • @11xzxzxz the point of the windmills were for show. it doesnt matter if he played it to a T. it got people going crazy and thats what mattered.

  • They were so garage back then.

  • @williamg2552 only thing weird about it's that you thought you were gonna blow some minds by dropping that bit of info. the whole mod scene was borne of brit kids covering american soul hits, so there's nothing weird at all about this.

  • Call me crazy, but I like The High Numbers more than The Who. ;D

  • I like different versions of songs, and I'm feeling this one

  • Modtastic!

  • I love this song. I love High Numbers. I love The Who. I love Pete, Keith, John and Roger. I love Mods.

  • were the dancing mods cut and spliced here...or simultaneous moving folk, as the band played.i suspect the film crew spliced and editied to create the film they wanted to make. always thought the junky, ex of the libertines, looks like the poor old sod what managed the oo, kit lambert. lambert made this film with lover stamp. so very glad someone was around to record this.

  • Buenisimo ,antes de ser Famosos, tenian este nombre nunca habia sus videos, me gusta esa onda 60's

  • Or the High Numbers.I really want to see it

  • Where is the heavy version of this song when the who played it?

  • fucking love it..and the clothes magic

  • Moon kicks this.

  • Im a mod,same as Roger.

  • im a mod,who wants it?

  • Roger fucking rocks in this- The best live band ever, even when they weren't The Who!

  • @superlou1s agreed x3

  • Best band in the world The High numbers/The Who. Moonie quality.

    Proper music.

    Mod for life.

  • mod dudes on uppers dancing...

  • @KooRazyBoi12 Google youtube to mp3

  • used to live in wealdstone, some gits burned it down

  • an original motown song!

  • Download it on youtubedownloader and convert to whatever format you want...

  • i love this song, this cover! very fantastic

  • so fucking boss. i never thought there was video footage of htis. so fucking gnarly.

  • Baba that would be at The Railway Hotel, Wealdstone, 1964, their management made a film of the gig.

  • Well they TRIED to make a film. Lol.

  • i'm in love with this song !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Speechless in Minneapolis. But many thanks for posting; this is a gem.

  • AKA The Who !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Originally recorded by Motown's mighty MIRACLES in 1963.

  • Who's living room are they playing in?

  • mine i wish

  • your mums

  • The High Numbers aka The Who rocked even then!!!

  • more so ...? :P

  • wow keith, amazing, bless him

  • Was this song ever recorded? If so, where can I find a copy to purchase?

  • I think its on the Amazing Journey DVD.

  • Please roger or pete get this out on CD as soon as you can!!!

  • gotta listen to this song to keep on rocking :D

  • I used to drink at this gaff

  • fuck me, even then moonie was tight...

  • a true gem. Facsinating little piece of RocK history. Make Ken Burns PAY mucho if he want to do a Modumentary for

    rich people. Five stars

  • NO WAY!!! wow, thanks so much!

  • 2:20 - holy fucking shit!!!

  • Keith looks so cute=]

  • i luv keiths drumming in this song

  • I love The Who... and I love The High Numbers... they are really great!!!

  • johns high voice brings it all together <333

  • there is something about this that seems perfect

  • fucking awesome

  • cool song

  • The MIRACLES RULE !!

  • Me too. THE MIRACLES RULE!!! Everybody tries to copy their tunes...But no one comes close.

  • I prefer the original by Smokey and the Miracles from 1963.

  • Even then its clear to see that they possessed that power, fury and energy in their performance which made them the greatest.

  • It blows me away to think that these four young lads playing a little dinky club are the same guys that stole the show at Woodstock just 5 years later!

  • lol, beatles would never be able to pull something this extraordinary off

  • ???? The Beatles were rocking these kinds of tunes two years before and future Who members, and were grooving quite nicely.

  • ??? The Beatles were rocking out these soul standards well before the High Numbers/Who were, and they were doing it quite well.

  • Go home Lorreta

  • HIGH NUMBERS named after the numbers that appeared on jumpers and cardigans...usually imported american intercollegiate sportswear

  • i love this song so much!!!!!!!!!!!

  • No! Supermod Pete Meaden coaxed the boys into a breif, very brief name change in 1964.AND iF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT A HIGH NUMBER IS, ASK A mod!

  • wait so this is the who but with a different name?

  • rogers voice is awesome, keiths drumming is superb, Petes style is pure rock'n roll and johns standing still ties it all in. 5 Stars!

  • OH yeah!

  • I saw this in the Amazing Journey documentary and absolutely loved it! A great example of how the Who pretty much rock everybody's socks off.

  • originally recorded by SMOKEY & THE MIRACLES IN 1963.

  • a VERY WEIRD version of SMOKEY & THE MIRACLES' hit.

  • Yeah, we know it.

    I love both version.

  • moon drummed with his soul

  • Thanks for the upload!

    Great video.

  • someone tell me why daltrey often wore dark shades indoors? anything to do with drugs they took?

  • Cuz they looked cool you fool! Pete would wear them occasionally too, haha.

Roger never really got into drugs early on. The whole group took amphedamines for a short time but Roger stopped quickly and eventually got the whole group off of them.

  • don't forget that Keith died taking the pills that were supposed to get him off booze and drugs, Roger was super pissed at the doctor for that one, cuz the doctor didn't give him a proper doseage. Keith dieing was just as bad as when John Bonom (spellcheck) died

  • Bonham.

  • because they looked awsome...besides all they where taking then was canibis & amphedamines...pete was the only one really on canibis anyway...

  • KEITH MOON JUST ROCKS.

  • Fuck. Yes.

  • thehellaphant approved

  • NICE!!!!!

  • Simply fantastic 5* quality geezers.
