No one got hurt, we all obeyed the rules of the range and used commons sense while handling the firearms. The big hoopla about guns being bad period is a lot of nonsense, it only takes a few jerks to make a bad name for something, and the powers that be encourage the few jerks to use firearms for bad things so they have an excuse to take them away from everyone. Myself, I think everyone should have firearm training while young, and be allowed to own them for life.

Granted, some people would still abuse them, but not anywhere near like other country's in the world. When hitler and his goons dis-armed the public, the murder and crime rate skyrocketed, and though it is not shown on the news very much, modern day dis-armed countrys are full of high crime and murder.

Several country's have a mandatory military service requirement, and those people are taught all about firearms and how to use and respect them, and firearms are required to be in every home in those country's. Criminals are less likely to do home invasions on a trained and armed public, because they might get something they were not looking for. It doesn't take a firearm to kill someone, the media exaggerates the 'Gunman' thing a bit too far.

Shotguns are good for bird hunting and self defense, or clay pidgeon shooting if you like, they are a firearm of choice by many people who use them for all three, .12 gauge being popular. Rifles are like pistols, you need to find the one that fits you, your needs, and strength, some can knock you on your butt if your'e not careful. Yes, the officers model 1911 .45 is not for shooting accurately but for up close and personal defense (gut gun). I like .22's because they are cheap to shoot.

First off, the slide was pulled back far enough so as a .177 cal bb wouldn't even be able to be ejected or chambered (exageration, but point crossed), second, the sound was oviously taken from a firearm being shot outside, that and the missing muzzle flash.

That sort of thing is rare over here. At a range in the early nineties I was lucky enough to try a Model 29 .44 and an Eight inch .357 with full loads. Surprisingly the model 29 was easier to hold on a group than the .357 but you did have to let it swing away before bringing it back to the sight line. There was also a short .45 Automatic though I cant remember the model and that went all over the place. My shooting more than the gun! but it did kick some.

@TacticalAtheist There is a short .45 auto that colt makes called an 'officers model', it holds six shots,and if it was the same gun you shot, they are hard to keep on target, I think they are mainly for up close self defense purposes, slang language poupulary calls them 'gut guns'. I had the opportunity to shoot a winchester .45-70 at a range, and it was a very accurate gun, and it didn't kick anywhere near what some rifles do. Those guns were popular in the old west here. @Grey9man You may be right the Matey! I google'd the officers 1911 and the pictures look very familiar to what I remember. I have to say I did not like it at all, it felt unbalenced and would be way down my list of Guns To Own. All my rifle shooting thus far has been Air rifles both Paper Target and Field Target so I cant comment on the big guns. I have pop'd off the odd round wih random rifles over the years but not enough to give any meaningfull comments I dont realy dig shotguns either.

@TacticalAtheist In my younger days, friends and I would go to ranges and take our .22 rifles, along with a bunch of 2-liter pop bottles filled with red colored water, and shoot the bottles from a distance of 200 feet, lot of fun, no glass gets scattered, (the range wouldn't allow glass anyhow), and you can see how to adjust your rifle's iron sights so they are right on. Then we would have contests to see who could get the closest grouping, the winner got free beers at the bar / pub later.

@GARTV101 I suppose it all depends on what you mean by Kick. Here in the UK we are lucky if we can get hold of a .22 and I have water pistols that kick more! So when you move up to a .45 it really does kick! Plus I suppose you should take into consideration the load and the shooters physical strength. My limited experience with these rates them as big kickers but it's all relative. I may change my mind if I had a S&W 500 to play with :)

check it, watch when he cocks the gun... if it were a real gun, the hammer would be hanging back right above the handle's beaver tail (right above his hand on the back), and you would see it slam forward right before explosion of the shell casing, notice the hammer never moves. Its some sort of weak pellet gun modeled after a 1911, probably a gas-blowback BB pistol. on another note the slide travel when he cocks it is much to short for a gun that size to efficiently eject a spent round.
