  • can you play the title screen music from japan bios 2.00?

  • Is this using the actual chip? Or is it some VST plugin?

  • @dissident93 Actual chip installed inside of an SMS1 PAL console.

  • @littlescale Awesome! And I hear you built the adapter yourself?

  • @dissident93 Yes.

  • @littlescale Awesome. 2x.

  • @dissident93

get off the vids I watch :P

  • @figaro589 You again?! :P

I guess we have very similar interests in gaming, then. hahaha

  • is there any chance that the midi-interface will be released sometimes?

    i really would grab one!

  • @bnzo00 I thought that. I have the MSSIAH MIDI synth, sampler, drum machine and sequencer cart for the C64, as well as other hardware and software gems through the years. But the Sega chip had its own unique charms.

But there is still a way. VST software such as Plogue Chiptunes emulates the soundchips of various consoles for the PC. Or you can always sample.

  • when and where can you get that adapter?

  • @SVL0RM00N If you look around at the forums at SMSPower.org, word is that littlescale built the adapter himself.

  • @deathworm101

    That is AWESOME!

  • amazing....i still really want to grab one of these off you.....any ETA on a release?

are you still doin it? im sure alot would be interested....

    i cant wait!!!!!

  • sorry for the stupid question, but can this midi keyboard play like a real piano, with the piano sound????????????

  • VRC7 used this chip.

  • @SgtThom

Actually it didn't, but it used somthing similar.

  • oh, Littlescale, are there any differences between the YM2612, and a regular 4-OP Yamaha synth (i.e. DX100)?

  • I'm not the author of the vid, but owning a Genesis and a Yamaha FB-01 I can clarify things some.

The YM2612 is a six-channel FM synthesizer, compared to t he YM2614 used in the 4-op DX line (two exceptions that use a YM2151 from the arcades). The sixth channel of the 2612 can also do a bit of ADPCM sample playback if FM is disabled during playback. Hence why digital samples on the system sounds so gritty.

  • Yeah, I guess I already knew that, but thanks anyway NightSprinter. I love 4-op FM. I have a DX7, which is 6-operator, but sometimes i turn off two operators just to make Genesis-esque noises.

  • Oh, I think the Fusion emulator lets you enable YM2413 mode for SMS games. But I always just turned it off, because I liked the SN better, it's what I grew up with.

  • amazing! sounds a lot like the sega genesis

  • nice controlla

  • sweeeeet

  • amazing!

  • How's that Genesis MIDI interface going, brother? :)

Sorry, I couldn't help it. I had to ask.

  • dude, once again, BLOWING MY FUCKIN MIND!

if you just like, sell me that thing, i would be complete. how DO YOU do EET??

  • YOU ARE A FUCKING GENIUS!!!!!
