@FlickinFilms here in Canada, the black squirrels aren't so rare, they come and go just like brown ones (we even have gray ones too) but it could also be the region, maybe the coloured ones depend more on shaded areas for better protection.

We have black squirrels in the UK around the Hitchin Letchworth area. I didn't know until the other day when I saw a pair so I'm going back to film them. Didn't know how rare they were. We have lots of grey squirrels which have made the red one's almost extinct here.

Still have red and grey squirrels here but my old neighborhood is taken over completely by the black squirrels, where I never saw a black one growing up. Being scared of squirrels, that's new lol... But any animal were fiercely defend it's young. I used to be able to feed them by hand.

@crypter27 in the uk we are supposed to have red squirrels and they are the coolest thing evar, but because of some edwardian prick we now have grey's which are killing off our native species. lol.

@flashash2k9 Its kind of like how Canadian geese took over my home town,now native white geese lost allot of territory but man had nothing to do this sceniero the Canadan geese. Liked our bay because of mild winters & thats why they moved here,north American squirrels are allot tougher then your'e native species.

holy shit.. Those are a lot of squirrels.. We used to have 2 red squirrels living in a small forest nearby. Kind of sad to see they were both killed by traffic in just 2 months time. Squirrels have dissapeared in parts of our country, probably also due to the European Pine Marten. One thing we do have enough atm are rabbits, they are everywhere...

It's probably something along the lines of a squirrel holiday. No doubt they have good eating just now. Maybe they are youngsters and are learning how to cache some squirrel food. Life is so intense sometimes ..
