WOW :-)... looks like they´re building some kind of giant teleporter or smth *lol* ... I wish i could work together with them as a scientist, down there ... hmmm perhaps some day :-)
it will be sweet if they actually make mini black holes! Or make some discoveries that radically enhance at least 1 area of industry, technology, or society.

The University of California was splitting atoms in the 50's. Other labs since then have split protons. This is not new science, just bigger, more expensive, monuments to try to prove there is no God. Still no one has come up with a force that can overcome the gravity of even a black hole. Let alone the gravity of the universe in a tiny singularity.
what do you mean 'of EVEN a black hole'? you must be joking or you simply don't know what you're talkin about.
Gravity.. haven't you heared about man made satelites hanging hundrest of kilometers over your head.. just wonder how did they get there. Wait..I know GOD sent them there! Yeah GOD!
So you are saying there are black holes that have exploded or been destroyed by centrifical force? Centrifical force is what holds satelites up.
Not one massive black hole has ever exploded to my knowlege.
A Super Nova is the largest explosion that we have the physics for. And a Super Nova is simply a large star, not a massive black hole which may have a billion masses of a large star. Scientist agree there is no known force that can overcome the gravity of a black hole, so that it explodes.
This IS science at it's grandest. Lets wait and see what the experiments reveal. A new reality perhaps indicating our ultra massive universe is just a small part of something grander and so one.
I want to be there when they fire it up for the first time to full power. How awesome it must be to be a part of something so important and complicted. How would you as a scientist ever top it? I bet they are more than happy to go to work every day and put in overtime.
This is the world most expensive project ever, dont you worry; from military leaders to politicians everyone must have confirmed the release of the video clip.
you dont now but when they use the findings of this experiment to build a nuclear weapon and start another cold war against usa, then you'll realize how important it is to keep the details of the experiment confidential. Big bang theory has always been used as a cover up nuclear weapon projects. Ex: Einstein and WW II. ''Bangs'' don't create, they destroy!
The whole point of this is that they aren't interested in keeping anything confidential, which is why dozens of countries from all over the world are involved.
shootme: it's naive of you to think the scientific community would ever conspire to use this for such an evil ploy. the select few chosen to be at CERN have not the time for such musings. the few i know have the kindest of hearts.
And this is just one tiny tiny tiny part of the complex....

Oh. My. F\cking. God.
I don't think anyone truly realises that this is one of the most complex - hugest thing that exists at all ???
I mean, even the guys who build it

Look,
"Still no one has come up with a force that can overcome the gravity of even a black hole"
if there is no such force why do you expect humans to posses or even find such power it's not logical. You answered yourself:
"there is no known force that can overcome the gravity of a black hole"
Satelites are just an exaple of 'overcoming gravitaty of the universe in a tiny singularity.'

You obviously have NO clue what cern is doing with the new LHC collider. Too funny.
