I totaly agree with anyone who has opinion that Matt C is bad for PJ. I say he's the worst drummer PJ's ever have. If u listen to LIVE ON 2 LEGS u will found out that he played such terrible beat, especially the old songs such as Go, Even Flow & Daughter. He's attractive when still with Soundgarden but he's lame with PJ...
@ronggiify To me it stands out the most on this song. Where on the record Dave A. keeps a beat that drives the song, Matt plays along with the riffs. It's like he's trying to play rhythm guitar with his drums or something. Corduroy is one of my favorite songs, but I won't listen to any of the live versions with Matt on drums. I love Matt, and I don't think he's bad for the band, he's great on stuff recorded with him, but when he plays the older stuff it's often awkward.
I just went to a Pearl Jam concert 1 week ago and Red hot chili peppers concert in Rock in rio 1 month ago, I've been listening to them so much, I had no idea this video existed.....I cant express how awesome was to find this

Skin Yard developed their sound while he was there drummer, and then soundgarden were mind blowing with him. I do accept he limits the complexity of his playing with PJ but he's still in a whole different league to Dave A. love matt as a drummer one of my favorites(for soundgarden work), but have hardly enjoyed anything PJ since he joined the band, the albums aren't bad per se...but i dont love PJ for Binaural, Riot Act, Avocado, or Backspacer, its those first 5 albums that really do it for me...not sayin its Matts fault, but his recruit is the most obvious change since the Yield era
I consider Matt Cameron to be an amazing drummer and a fine song writer, his input in bands has always been very constructive, but HIS DRUMMING WAS NEVER RIGHT FOR PEARL JAM. I really hope that after this long break that pearl jam is taking they consider seriously to bring back D.A., or Jack or D.K., or some other drummer with more feeling and technique!
These three need to start a side project!!! Flea and Eddie Vedder seem to have great chemistry and it would be fun to see Eddie try and keep up with Flea's intensity.

@crifecrowley id have to disagree with you. matt cameron is an exceptional drummer, and a mediocre fit for PJ. Pearl Jam has never really given the drummer much room to shine, and doesnt really depend on him. When their drummers changed, their music didnt really. Soundgarden is un-imaginable without cameron. He could write songs with them and had tons of freedom to work with off time beats and fills.
"The waiting drove me Matt..." I disagree. Matt and his musicial influence on the band is just great! Seeing Pearl Jam as a complete thing today only works when you see Matt as a huge and important part of it. As a songwriter as "brakes and engine" on stage. He is just such a great musician! This is nothing against all the great drummer they have had, Jack Irons f.i. - great man. But sometimes time leads people together and turn a thing into a positive way.

Matt obviously does better he inspired me to become a better drummer, hes plays off beat, and unexpecting. Like something you might think you can predict like a crash he ends up hitting it half a measure later. Things like that make me respect him more then Dave. Trying to hit as many cymbals as you can in a measure doesn't make anyone better, it makes them look ridiculous. Luckily Dave did a good job not hitting to much until it sounded ridiculous. But Matt blows Dave away.
Dave Abbruzzese was pj's best drummer jack irons is good in rhcp but is horrible in pj and matt cameron does not fit in pj he is too solid dave abbruzzes brought groove,dynamics,wonderful accents and created onstage intensity that pj needs back.

This show was insane. I was fortunate enough to be in attendance. ED came out acoustic for 5 songs, then introduced his "band" and they ripped through about 7 songs.

It's amazing how different and great pearl jam sounds with Jack Irons or Dave A.
Matt Cameron's drumming is fast but, is very dry, boring and zero feeling for pearl jam. His drumming was never right for this band.

obviously you know abit, you're right about the splashes!!!! lets agree to disagree, its all about personnal taste. pj played here in vancouver abit ago, phenomenal show, but matt is just kinda solid, no flair or dynamics (splashes!!) to his playing. he was like that with soundgarden too. youtube both drummers playing "go", tell me which does a better job?

Matt obviously does better he inspired me to become a better drummer, hes plays off beat, and unexpecting. Like something you might think you can predict like a crash he ends up hitting it half a measure later. Things like that make me respect him more then Dave. Trying to hit as many cymbals as you can in a measure doesn't make anyone better, it makes them look ridiculous. Luckily Dave did a good job not hitting to much until it sounded ridiculous. But Matt blows Dave away.

Dave Abbruzzese was pj's best drummer jack irons is good in rhcp but is horrible in pj and matt cameron does not fit in pj he is too solid dave abbruzzes brought groove,dynamics,wonderful accents and created onstage intensity that pj needs back.

This show was insane. I was fortunate enough to be in attendance. ED came out acoustic for 5 songs, then introduced his "band" and they ripped through about 7 songs.
