  • this video explained it really well, today's explanations about things are so complicated, and unprofessional, gotta love the 50's USA military xD

  • Imagine this invention as a man, a German electrical engineer I am very surprised. that man was Mr.Fottinger

  • ENGINEERING!

  • Sehr gutes Video, besser als die modernen Filme. Endlich habe ist wirklich verstanden wie es funktioniert.

  • finally i got it, tomorrow i write my exam :D

  • Lol, looks like looney tunes opening :D

  • thumb up if ur watchiin in 2012

  • really good explanation. makes it seem like such a basic device!

  • These US Army principles of operation videos are great. Who ever made these deserves a medal.

  • Great video. Only two missing parts. The lockup clutch which stops any heat build up or power loss and the stator which is another set of vanes that improve efficiency.

  • @braschlosan those became later this is from 1954, lock up appeared in the late 70s

  • Fluid coupling well explained.

I have uploaded some technical videos in my channel "techtrixinfo", torque converter (fluid coupling) theory and practical explained in it.

  • As old ad that video is, it was a perfect explanation.

    Thanks for sharing the video.

  • Hweels

  • 1:30 "Just waterin' my ball..."

  • I came at 10:25.

  • They just don't make YouTube videos like they used to

  • I still prefer my higher-wear clutch, but great explanation of the torque converter!

  • excellent

  • So is anyone here old enough to remember the old disney and looney toons episodes opening up this way?

  • Just learned something. Nice.

  • Brilliant thank you very much!

  • brilliantly explained.

  • DoD knew what they were doing. Seems to me that you could take these vidoes straight into a classroom today. Thanks DoD!

  • This is amazing. A video from 1954 was the first thing to actually in an accurate way explain a torque converter to me. Thumbs up!

  • Excellent

  • I never realized how ingenious a torque converter is.

  • @FORDboy357~ quite.... QUITE ingenious!!

  • Amazing thanks !!!! Explained it so well

  • Amazing how this almost 60 year old Army video too, explained the principals of a fluid coupling, that I was still confused about. A torque convertor is almost the same thing, just more aggressive blade angles & fluid direction change. I wonder what Army post this is with it's long gone World War 2 look ?

  • this was the video to sell the torque converter to the USA army in the 50's... i like it...

  • Just perfect !

  • I love this video, very clear explanation. I'll stick to my manual car though, it lets me drive properly.

  • One of the best explanations yet, although I am still fuzzy though about how the hermetic leak-proof sealing is materially made and how the cooling/reservoir in and out points work and how they are actually constructed on the spinning shafts on either ends of the torque converter.

  • great !!!

  • thx for this video it really cleared my concept

  • That was just brilliant. Thank you for this piece.

  • Great ......wonderful,I had confusion for 3 months about fluid coupling but now everything has been cleared by your video.......thanks.....thanks.....thanks..

  • wow.... its really worty.. can u pls tell me the starting system of the truck.. n wat r the 2 lever @ starting
