isn't 12 days old too young to be taken from the mother? with puppies it's 6-8 weeks..

Capybaras are born with their eyes open, fully furred (as much as they get), they get up and walk immediately and are able to eat solid food. Of course, Caplin got milk supplement--in fact he is so spoiled he still does. We got him at 11 days but I think the breeder took him from his parents at about 8 days.

We were told when we bought him that he was a she. We didn't find out for about four months about his true gender.

I've known about the impending guinea pig invasion for almost 10 years now. My pig faked his death over the summer to return to the homeworld,but his close ally the squirrel has me under constant obeservation from my porch window. So far I've been able to buy his silence with peanuts. I saw a capybara years ago at the state fair. He was in a sideshow tent with one of those painted sideshow banners showing a giant man eating rat in a jungle. For a wild beast he liked being scratched and petted.

since this video was posted we've found out that caplin is actually a male, which are smaller than the females. He'll get to be about 100 pounds. But they weigh more than they look.
