  • Branka Parlic is the best interpreter of philip glass!

  • Philip Glass is the world's best interpreter of Philip Glass. Branka Parlic is a very good player and interpreter, but Philip Glass is still better at Philip Glass. Of course, I like her interpretations or I wouldn't be listening.

  • it's a bit like monk's ' well you needn't'

  • Philip Glass is the best interpreter of Philip Glass, he wrote the piece for himself, he is still alive. Why should we like it if someone who isn't him plays his music until he is dead?

  • @slaytesics for one thing, it's nice to have other people playing his work. but the proof is in the punch: i have the recording of this, on vinyl, that glass first released. parlic plays it just about exactly the same way. i've seen others play it, on youtupe and elsewhere, and they can't compare. the fact that parlic is also a virtuoso with satie is telling. like glass, satie is deceptively simple sounding and very difficult to play with the right spirit.

  • i love this.

  • Nice playing and very good phrasing. Branca Parlic and Philip Glass: A perfect match!

  • Phiip Glass is a genius! ;)

  • Ballet Austin performed to Glass.....beautiful and exciting!!

  • He just takes the same phrase and repeats it. It gets kind of boring but it's amazing how it works so well.

  • @CelloBoy13913

Repetition has its place in the world. It's about what effect the repetition is meant to have on the listener. When thinking in terms of composers, what needs to be remembered is that a good composer does not always rely on virtuosity to carry a piece.

  • wow..i really find this intriguing. i kinda love it.

  • Interesting waltz. Not easy to dance to but very original.

  • I am 12,and I played this when I was 10it's wonderful,I feel a lot of emotions when I listen this! Sjajno! Wonderful!

  • Sjajno Branka.

  • I'm yet to find an interpretation of Glass's music by Branka that I would say was anything less than perfect. Not only that, but she's so darn modest as well. Wonderful!

  • it sounds like Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an exhibition" a little, isn't it?

  • Awsome job She is the best!!

  • Great!!!

  • Very enjoyable. Thank you for the post.

  • Thank you Branka you proved that you are the world's best interpreter of Philip Glass, as well as Erik Satie. Far above other interpretators.

  • Thanks again, hvala !

    Branka

  • and Nyman!

  • All the people complaining, who do you think has the greatest understanding of music? You or the world famous Branka Parlic, considered one of the most accomplished players of contemporary music in the world?

    She is lovely

  • Lovely piece, lighter in mood than most other pieces by Philip Glass. A very dynamic and spirited interpretation by Branka Parlic. IMO baseless, hateful comments should just be ignored and get thumbs down.

  • hear hear!

  • Glass's melodies are perfectly made for solo piano, even though some of the main features in his music have rarely changed through the years, interpreting his music is not an easy task, Parlic shows an exquisite touch in her interpretation of the piece, paying great attention to the varying dynamics and pace throughout. This approach enables her to produce a recording which is both heartfelt and academic in its precision. For many reasons it is an essential recording by an exceptional player.

  • Would you please rewrite your comment, but make it a bit more pretentious this next time?

  • Sorry to disappoint you but there's not enough room.

  • this is a wonderful work of art :D i'm going to play this on my saz (baglama) coming soon... :D somebody got the sheet music for this piece??? i only got the first part but can't find the second :$:$

  • I really detest people who do nothing else but complaining. As a professional pianist, let me tell you: she isn't 'butchering' his work, it's ALL about interpretation and unless you are mr. Glass himself,I don't think you should critisize her way of playing. If you still think she's 'butchering' Glass' work, I can only conclude that you are tonedeaf and should stay far far away from everything that has to do with music.

  • i dont understand how she is butchering his work? i mean, ive heard it said elsewhere, and im no expert or anything.. but how? This just sounds like snobbery to me, please defend your comments with an explanation

  • lpyyxw what gives you the right to judge if she played the hours wrong? I mean its her interpritation of the song-art is not right or wrong-that is the beauty of it, the minute you start saying whats correct and incorrect, the freedom dies and that leaves a very lifeless piece for the ears and the soul.

  • Branka Parlic playing the hours wrongly ?

Find me a 'correct' interpretation of 'the hours' on solo piano !

Her hours are amazing, Very beautiful dynamics

  • I love this piece. Also it's quite easy to learn because it does so much repeating and the LH stays the same throughout the whol piece.

However, I think you need good fingering for some parts of the RH.

  • i dont suppose u could send me the sheet music could you?

  • wow im the first one to say something....well i think its really good, i love romatic stuff, so soppy, its quite upbeat compared to other stuff like that
