@mybigmoo1 What's good man, your settings will really vary based on the mood your looking to create. For this video, I shot on manual, camera on a tripod, shutter speed 1/50, aperture f4, iso 100, frame rate 24p, and picture style neutral .
im trying to take pic of a stream i set camera up for 1 sec,f/22 iso 200. and the pic just comes out real bright, what am i doing wrong and how do i get that silk water look. thanks
@tallicafan85 Hello, keep in mind when your using longer shutter speeds, your letting in more light so make sure you go out around 4 or 5 pm in the afternoon where it's not as bright outside. Take your ISO down to 100, keep your aperture at f22, and use a 30 second shutter speed or longer.
You must have had really brite lights to shoots this and then demmed down the footage later in editing, cuz there's like no grain at all but looks dem and smooth like a Tyrese Music Video no homo LOL.
@brandonlamarmusic With video, you use double the frame rate your camera shoots at. For example, that video was shot at 24 fps, so I used a shutter speed of 1/50 of a second.
Just one question: If I wanted to try the slow shutter speed durung daylight how do you avoid having an over exposed photo?
e.g I tried taking a photo of water running over rocks in the middle of the day and the image turned out to be far too exposed, yet your image in the video is perfectly lit.
If you could help that would be great, Btw I have subbed.
@ikearocks12 Thanks. That photo was actually taken around 7:20pm in the evening with an aperture value of about F32 with a 70-200 canon lens. Shutter speed was set anywhere from 1 second to 60 seconds. If using a high aperture still yields over exsposed images during bright day light, using a Vari-ND Filter over your lens will also reduce the amount of light coming in. I suggest going out later in the day to avoid the high cost of the filters. Hope that helps.
@ikearocks12 I'm only a beginner with digital photography, but I would say ramp your f.stop up (narrow apeture) and choose a low ISO, see how that works out.
perfect tutorial, thanks !

@brandonlamarmusic 3 lights, one over head and two back lights does the trick. each about 800 watts with soft boxes on them.
