Awesome game. Its a real shame that this recording is played through an emulator because it is so much better when played on an actual A1200. The game is incredibly smooth on the real machine and its a shame that Bloodhouse didn't get the chance to make more Amiga games
The original video that can be downloaded on our website is perfectly smooth too, as its 50fps - YT converts all videos to 30fps hence its not as good here :)
@cubex55 Its the emulation that's mainly to blame. The fireworks at the end of the tunnel sequences are hideous. Real shame cos it makes what I think is one of the best Amiga games look like it slows down. I'll record myself playing it once I've received a new charger for my video camera. I still have my A1200 set up in my bedroom with a Phillips CM8833 Mark2 monitor. I'll have to make some of these recordings
@Stopmotionist good grief. I'm not making things up you know. Look at 10mins52secs. The thing about most emulators and especially UAE is that the target machine and the machine being emulated are very different and with the Amiga being so radical in design, a hacked together machine like the PC can struggle to emulate at full speed, so the programmers find tricks to find speed. This works most mostly, but there will be code that can't be emulated at full pace.
Dude, are you batshit crazy? Yeah, the Amiga is a very hard machine to emulate, because of all the special chips, but it has absolutely nothing to do with how fast the PC is; Damn, I love the Amigas, I have two of them, but even the cheapest PC these days are lightyears away in terms of horsepower, you could emaulate 10 4000's and your PC wouldn't break a sweat
@marviosantos With respect, you don't have a clue what you're talking about. My PC is a recent model, and yet emulating Deluxe Paint 4 in 640x512 resolution (unfortunately, the program doesn't function properly in PC graphics modes), I find the cursor slow and animation playback slower than on an Amiga 1200. Its not all bad news though, the program is still useable in these conditions and the extra memory provides scope for many more frames of animation than an A1200
1.22 - 1.40 -> the cursor sign is messed up. This is made only by wrong AGA emulation, done by UAE. On original Amiga 1200, this cursor sign is Yellow and smooth.
Fantasticly addictive game - one of the few that was still great fun even after completion.
They brought out an easier version of the game shortly after release. Thankfully, I think we got the game when it was still 'tricky', and completely it nonetheless.
i like the funny voice when you grab an upgrade

@cubex55 Look at the fireworks at 10.52. It happens over and over again throughout the video too. Its the emulator, not just youtube

@nicholasthetaylor
Emulators ARE smooth; it's YouTube's stupid framerate limit.

yea, i saw that vid before i watched this one. but the 2007 psn game was definitely a remake of this one and not stardust.
have u tried super stardust hd on the ps3/psp? i think they did an incredibly fantastic job with the remake. in fact, it looks nothing like this game.
solidkwon 2 years ago
Yeah its one of the best PSN games for sure!
cubex55 2 years ago
so the psn game was a remake of this. wow, this franchise really has come a long way.

Actually before Super Stardust there was Stardust ;) We have a longplay of that too!

Only Team17 makes it possible :)

@tomi7711 Other than Publishing Stardust and Super Stardust, Team 17 had nothing to do with the game itself.

Incredible game and on the CD³² even better than microcosm with much smoother cutscenes and more gameplay. Very great game.
