I think you could actually use a little less compression, bit more bite? Still really close sounding.

I like the sound, its very warm and smooth. I am not in touch with the Mayer sound very well so my feed back may not be helpful. If you could get it to cry harder, a more pushed sound might as well may be cool to. I like my Fender SC as high as they go in neck position,maybe you might like it to. Either way great tone!
