Can anyone recommend more documentaries similar to this? I'm fascinated by the candid and unflinching nature of this film. Most I've seen have been more historical in their focus, but this is really where the rubber meets the road. I've shared this on facebook several times and, to the best of my knowledge, no one has ever even watched it. Unfortunate...

Take away the artillery and air support and who would of won in a stand up fight? Give the NVA and VC some credit. BUT their ideas change from ROMANTIC IDEAS of HEROISM +gung ho , to romantic ideas of extreme self sacrifice and suffering . The author was wounded and discharged in WW1 , but said he just simply had to keep going back (was wounded several times) . Said he was hooked on seeing "awsome displays of firepower" (bit like band of brothers ,bastogne episode) . At KURSK 11,000 german guns fired at same moment. Did you know it took 11,000 shells for every ONE death in ww1 ? (rolling barrages , i assume etc)

A HUGE proportion of them admitted that when they first fired their rifle , they aimed TO MISS . And it was only with EXPERIENCE and when in a "do or die" situation that they were ABLE to overcome the huge psychological barrier of killing another human being . The ability to KILL is inherent in EVERYONE but discarding the inhibition isnt easy for everyone, at first.

he told me one about when he got to Kah Sahn,he met a friend from boot,went up to shake his hand and all the guys in the squad or platoon were like no no dont..and hes like wtf? so his boot buddy comes up and says ya know hi how are you and all,then tells him to look behind him,dad turns around and behind him is a solid black German Shepard dog..dads boot buddy says "#1 rule,dont ever touch me,

later that day dads patrol finds 8 or 9 VC dead,most with there throats ripped out,others in various states of dismemberment,thats all that dog did was kill and it was fucking good at it!! been doing a while so how knows how many confirmed kills it racked up in total. dad can attest to 20 to 30 that he he saw the aftermath of...come to find out that they had severed its vocal chords so it would be totally silent..and thats the story of the killer dog named Satan.

my father was over there from 67-69....to this day he still has an immense hatred for the VC......the NVA he respected but he says the VC were down right butchers.....the creed in their unit was never get taken prisoner by the VC cause of the horrible torture they inflicted on US POWS

And the reason why the US had more FF because the air-operations were run by the USAF 90% hence so the USAF are bound to have more incidents. I could do all the math i wanted but despite this, the US has the lowest in absolute terms and sizes.
Unlike the US which most of them air-to-ground incidents, most British friendly fire which involved ground-to-ground incidents.

As for the Libya, the air-power doesn't seem to be working, it would have end earlier if we take the lead instead, hence the missions in Serbia in 1999 ended early due to fact we take the lead on that one.

I read all these comments of older folks voicing their concerns about young kids wanting to fight.
Morally it's pretty fucked up when someone will kill and feel invincible, want to join the army just to watch the life drain from a body.
But in the grand scheme of things it's pretty amazing.
Our soldiers are better than ever. Perhaps they're becoming desentisized by violence.

The author was wounded and discharged in WW1 , but said he just simply had to keep going back (was wounded several times) . Said he was hooked on seeing "awsome displays of firepower" (bit like band of brothers ,bastogne episode) . At KURSK 11,000 german guns fired at same moment. Did you know it took 11,000 shells for every ONE death in ww1 ? (rolling barrages , i assume etc)

the VC lost around 1,000,000
Also there was a thing called the TV and the media. Since the media shown it's horror to the war, it cause many people to protest it. Due to media and protesting, the US decide to pull out and let the ARVN fend themselves. Also you need to look up the word "containment".

If you do some research, UK and French planes are running out of bombs then you require the US to bail you out which means you are entirely dependable our CAS require to us to pick a the tab it's pathetic. @George22727 Despite Britain being the smallest forces in the planet, the UK had the highest rate of friendly fire. And the reason why the US had more FF because the air-operations were run by the USAF 90% hence so the USAF are bound to have more incidents. I could do all the math i wanted but despite this, the US has the lowest in absolute terms and sizes.
Unlike the US which most of them air-to-ground incidents, most British friendly fire which involved ground-to-ground incidents.

@George22727 Actually you're are uneducated about that issue. Vietnam at that time did not have advance technology like we have today and the US use more bombs than anyone else due to the fact the supplies from china are rampart. You're the one that are twisting it.
As for the Libya, the air-power doesn't seem to be working, it would have end earlier if we take the lead instead, hence the missions in Serbia in 1999 ended early due to fact we take the lead on that one.

@mrconcept i agree, that's all USA ever do, just start bullying counties for their own benefit because it makes them feel good about themselves, they think they could just go into Vietnam and win the war just like that, they lost so many men that they resorted to bombing the jungle, little did they know that Vietnam is all jungle, the Vietnamese outsmarted USA, it took them 20 years to find out that they had underground tunnels leading from place to place, in the end they got what they deserved.
