  • What a lovely song

  • Check out the first season (1974) Rockford Files episode "Roundabout". An early 20s Jesse stars in this one as an aspiring Las Vegas lounge singer. You'll fall in love with her. This episode also has a lot of historic mid-70s Vegas footage.

  • I love this song a-lot, and I have the DVD. If anyone knows where I could find some photos of Ms. Jesse, please E-mail me at MasterYoda1974@live.com THANX FOR THE VID!!!!

  • @EdwinDavis74 ,You're wecome.

  • according to imdb website the song was performed by jesse welles from The ALPHACENTURY

  • ther orginal singer is jesse wells

  • @TheAlphacentury,Thats what we all think it is. But in the DVD Ralph Bakshi said it was sung by a very famous model. but he doesnt know her name.

  • Dating myself but I saw the midnight movie! Still one of the prettiest songs..

  • tony do you have the album the soundtrack.. i am also looking for it ...

  • @TYISCLOSER,No...all i have is the song you hear...here. Message me with an email address and i'll send it to you.

  • Too much cleavage on that fairy for showing on a kids cartoon. What kinda dope were the producers smoking when they made this?

  • @BankaiIchigo12345,It's not a kids cartoon. This was shown as a midnight movie in theatres back in 1977.

  • @tonycdrive

Is this from the US or Japan or some other foreign country? Who made it?

  • @BankaiIchigo12345 ,Its from America. and it was made by Ralph Bakshi.

  • The Wizards' main characters in Bakshi's animation are much better then the ones in his Lord of the Rings rotoscope animation. Ellinore has a certain Betty Boop charm and style! To watch my drawn from memory animation click onto my user name and watch my hand drawn videos, THE MAGIC ARROWS, THE WINGED SANDALS, THE COLOSSEUM, THE BLACK WIDOW and BALDER'S EGG on my channel page on you tube! Thanks for the nice video and song!

  • @jonhayashi1

Do you think American Pop and Fire and Ice's rotoscoping is the same like what Robert Zemeckis and James Cameron on Avatar are using for their films?

  • @Johnlindsey289 Good question. The rotoscoping in lord of the Rings and later American Pop, Fire and Ice is felt to be a cheat since the animaters were copying the live acters so closey but at least the tracing of the live action was physical work of some sort while the the motion capture used in Avatar has the computer copying every move of people wearing the transister suits! So the motion capture is a high tech version of the traced rotoscope. I prefer hands on animation techniques!

  • Awesome movie, loved it since i was 14 when i re-watched it since i was a kid in the 80's and i think it's a unique eco-saving Sci-fi fantasy epic in the tradition of Fist of the North Star, Ferngully The Last Rainforest, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Mad Max, Tolkein and Cameron's Avatar.

  • such a beautiful song, what an amazing voice! love it forever!:)

  • I recorded the song from the DVD with Audacity. Follow my example, and you could listen to it anytime!

(remember to amplify after recording is finished)

  • Thanks, Tony! My e-mail is: pheironimus@gmail.com.

  • It was Jesse Welles. Says so in the credits at the end of the movie. I can't find an MP3 or recording of it anywhere, and I've looked.

  • @woobiewv ,It's always in the last place you look. You just found it! Message me with an email to send it to.

  • does anyone have an mp3 please?

  • @joneshiro ,Message me your email, and i'll send it to you.

  • I almost forgot: The singer was Jesse Welles who also played Elinore.

  • @Coelacanth1938,I tried to say that. But people would not accept it. They say someone else sung it

  • @tonycdrive I left Ralph Bakshi a note on his website to come here and clear the air. Let's see what happens.

  • @Coelacanth1938,On the commentary of the Wizards DVD, Bakshi says that this song was sung by "a very famous model they wanted to shot singing in the movies". (he actually said shot instead of shoot). But he can't remember her name. So you won't get anything from him.

  • @tonycdrive

Yes it's a very nice song and Ellinore is a knockout much like Crysta from Ferngully when it comes to fairy chicks

  • @Johnlindsey289 Crysta and Ellinore are both smokin hot babes!

  • Rumor has that it was actually Susan Anton; I've requested a response from her official webpage. She seems probably to be the most likely candidate. She would have been around 27 at the time and was just starting to make some lead way in her career. If it does turn out to be her, she should get credit. It's a beautiful song.

  • @vincentleeadams ,Cool. Thank you. can't wait to find out.

  • rest in peace R.B.

  • @mahender6969,Why are you saying rest in peace about someone who is not dead? Ralph Bakshi is NOT dead!

  • Well, on Wizards DVD Bakshi says that this song was sung by "a very famous model they wanted to shot singing in the movies". It's not the actress who voiced Elinore, they got different voices.

But thank you anyway :) It's a simple but very beautiful song.

  • @ifet08 My source is imbd. google Wizards movie 1977, click on imbd's link. scroll down to Jesse Welles Elinore voice. click on Jesse Welles, scroll down to where it says "soundtrack" where it says this...Wizards 1977 performer: "Only Time Will Tell". meaning she is the performer of the song. Now... until someone sues them and makes them change that info...not until then...will i change mine.

  • @tonycdrive imdb allows user-generated content. That mean that I can now click on "update" button there and change info about the song, without suing anyone. :)

And besides... what you don't Bakshi's words? Cause if you just don't believe me look up DVD and watch it with director's comments.

  • @ifet08,I have the dvd. I hate directors comments. But i'll check it out.

  • @tonycdrive idiot, listen to the Wizards Commentary on the DVD. Ralph Bakshi says himself what ifet quoted. imdb is wrong.

  • @iamstillhiro1112 ,Ralph didn't seem to know what he was talkin about. ""a very famous model?" "very famous? She was so famous he didn't even know her name. Until she is found...this song will always be remembered as Jesse Welles singing it. Perhaps we should put out wanted posters? WILL THE REAL SINGER OF ONLY TIME WILL TELL PLEASE STAND UP?!

  • @tonycdrive At least he remembered who the correct singer wasn't. Just listen, it is obvious that it isn't the same voice actress as Eilinores.

  • @iamstillhiro1112 ,You can't always tell the difference between an acting voice and a singing voice.

  • @tonycdrive It's obvious in this case. Almost as obvious as spotting that Micheal J Fox did not sing Johnny B Goode in Back to the Future.

  • @iamstillhiro1112 ,I think someone should really find out the truth. Hunt down the true singer and give credit where credit is due.

  • No kidding! I wasn't aware of who sang the song. I met Ralph Bakshi several years ago, and made a nice photo of him shaking hands with Neal Adams. Mr. Bakshi loved the photo. I'm definitely a fan.

  • @gentletouch1,Jesse Welles also played the voice of Elinore. In the movie Avatar asked her to sing them a song and she sang this song.

  • @tonycdrive wow, like Avatar, the James Cameron Avatar???

  • @AdautoMedeiros,No,this Avatar is short,cartoonish and old.

  • oh my goodness! so happy about this, thanx man for posting it! best movie ever!

  • You're welcome:-)

  • I heard a rumor here in Las Vegas that Cirque Du Soleil is planning to do a Wizards stage show.

  • I wonder what that would be like

  • @Coelacanth1938 Now THAT would be something to see. Wizards is one of the classic oddball 70's movies. Would be cool to see Cirque pull it off.

  • Yeah, thanks again.

  • You're welcome

  • Can I get the mp3?! This song brings back so many memories!

  • Yes. Message me with an e-mail address and i will send it to you.

  • Man, I love this movie. How did you get the MP3/ Where can i find it?

  • FINALLY!! I loved this song so much. I've been looking for it EVERY WHERE to download. But this will have to do.

  • why settle for this when i can send you the mp3?

  • can yah send it to me too please?

  • Tonycdrive.... Do you still have the MP3 of "Only Time Will Tell" from the movie Wizards? I've been looking for it in vain. I'd love to have it.

    Gary

  • Yes I still have it. message me with an e-mail address and i will send it to you.

  • @tonycdrive

Like the gloves on that wizard.

  • Wow, after watching it the 3rd time I gots to say, THKS AGAIN!..This movie has so much mystique. Like the fabulous voice of the woman narrator who back when it was made, did not even want her name on the credits...years later she would say it was a fantastic piece of work..And the song was fantastic for this girl..one hit wonder..like the girl who sings that song in Phantom of the Paridise..This stuff is legendary..

  • you're welcome. and i didnt know that about the narrator.

  • Yeah..google her sometime..Susan Tyrrell

  • Actually, considering how much this classic has been forgotten, and posting this great lyric in 2009.. You get an A+ Homie..People like you make you tube awesome..thks again!!!

  • my pleasure

  • Fantastic job posting this long lost treasure. Bravo!!! Bravo!!!

  • thank you,thank you:-)

  • I love the lyrics. Well matched.

  • thanks. i guess you are watching all my videos

  • It's absoutely beautiful. The song is wonderful, and the video is perfect. I adore this movie.

  • aw,thank you.you're so kind.

  • Thank you for posting this!

  • You're welcome

  • Thank you SO much for posting this!

  • you're welcome

  • So, is there no way to buy or get a copy of this song? I'd like to own it.

  • i made an mp3 from the movie to make this video. message me with your e-mail address and i'll send you the song.

  • This song would make a good AMV if paired with scenes from Brian Froud's "Faeries" (1981) and/or "Winds of Change/Metamorphoses" (1978) (the artist, Ploob, who disigned the Witch of Envy from the latter, also did the 'Illuminated History' sketches in "Wizards").

  • @Jal8919536 ploog, not ploob (as I recall) Michael I do believe.

  • This is beautiful work. Thank you. I've loved this song and movie for YEARS, ever since I saw it when I was... oh man... 11? Yeah.

One little tweak, the lyrics in the second to last verse are wrong in your summary. It should go:

There can be a new dream,

    One for us to hold,

    Made with peace and hope

    And built upon the old.

  • Thank you. i copied and pasted the lyrics from a website. i never thought to double check it. you're right! so i corrected it right away. thanks.

  • Sure! I only noticed because when I first heard the song over a decade ago, I tried to copy the lyrics by pausing the video a zillion times so I could memorize them and sing it at recess. So... I know them pretty well, you might say. ;)

  • Simply beautiful video and song!*m*a*k*e* +:D

  • thank you

  • thank you very much for this song.. It's so rare...

  • you're welcome. yes,it's so rare i had to splice it from the movie and turn it into an mp3.

  • :( So sad. Amazing movie.

  • I agree.

  • Excellent, I love this <3

  • Thank you Hunter!:-)

  • I just watched the movie when I was looking for this song :3

  • Excellent video. This is a beautiful song.

  • Thank You!

  • Always did like this one :)

  • excelente cancion

  • does that mean "excellent song"?
