I dont know why but for some reason no matter how much I like the Doge Ram 1500 I still prefer the Nissan Titan Crue Cab, both have positives and negatives but for me the Nissan Titan Crue Cab is for me. Some things just cant be explained.
I've been a Mopar guy for over 20 years and I've got an '09 CCab with 26K, great ride and power [it passes everything but the gas station] 4wd is unstoppable in midwest winters. REN radio problems galore, replaced by fact. 3 times. Had numerous recalls [misc. issues] but have to say no failures or tow-in's yet. Have to say rides better than my prev. '04 Durango LTD w/bilsten shocks. V. nice on long family trips. I'd have to say 3.75 outta five stars.
@BerettaM9USAF have you noticed any type of wobble at high speed or over bumps at speed i know this " Death Wobble" is what they call it affects the 2500 trucks but just wanted to see if it affected the 1500 at all.
@defkon99 Never heard the term you mention, nontheless I did have a noise that ended up being a bad hub/bearing ass'bly. Have a great dealership that took care of it along with bad outer t-rod and align w/rental at $0. So other than my time taking it in I'm no worse for the wear. FYI the 1500 & 2500 susp. are totally different. 1500 has multi-link rear w/coil, more for ride. the other has leafs & not much different from prev. 2500. I'm a GC and don't load it down super heavy.
@defkon99 I just searched it and WOW! ...scary! No can't say I've ever seen or experienced this problem in any of the Dodge Trucks I've owned. I knew a guy who had a different make truck in a 250 series that he beat the crap out of with plowing and abuse that had a similiar issue when his king pins were falling out. Then again an 8 plus y.o. truck with almost 200k on the clock will need maintenance.
I OWN AN 09 RAM, MY ADVICE DONT;AT 3000 MILES REAR MAIN SEAL AT 20000 BALL JOINT 36000 UJOINT O YEAH THAT REAR COIL SPRING SETUP....GREAT UNLESS YOU ACTUALLY WANNA HAUL ANYTHING TRUCK SQUATS WITH JUST 500 LBS I HAD TO BUY AFTERMARKET LIFT AIRBAGS TRUCK SUUUUUCKS
@PBasser84 But heres the kicker, I bought a BMW in the meantime and was going to trade right away but rumor has it that in late 2010 they will introduce a light duty diesel in the 1500!
@gruvens Hey, I've never heard any bad things about BMWs. My cousin, out it Reno, Nevada has one and she loves it. It must be way nicer than the Toyota, though, right? I'm not sure when the diesel will be available in a half ton, since neither of the big three seem to think it's some thing the consumers want right know. I beg to differ, but the best I can say is keep your eyes and ears open for it. It would be nice if you can get one by then, bro! Kudos on your reply to MoparHP!
I beg to differ, have you driven, or at least ridden in one of the new Rams? The ride quality is quite nice. Maybe it was garbage, back then, but it's not some thing that Chrysler just cobbled up, either. It still has the truck handling attitude (as it should, since that's what it is, after all.) The coil-sprung rear suspension just makes it more forgiving, and pleasurable, a major plus, if you're road trippin'.
and will decrease your towing and payload performance, it has been checked, its a normal coil over rear suspension that only gives it a smoother ride.
It's not you average coil-sprung suspension. It's not like they took a setup, from a car and slapped it in. It's actually a beefed up setup from the JEEP 4X4 line. Yes it does decrease towing and payload performance, that has been proven, however, if towing heavy loads and hauling heavy payloads is your thing, shouldn't you be looking at a heavy duty truck, any way?
actually if you look at it, its a normal coil spring, they have took their ram and screwed it. If they had leaf springs maybe they could sell more trucks. And when I get any truck, i would want it to pull more than what I need so I know I can depend on it. Dont take the truck to its limit all the time.
the ram 1500 comes with a warning about towing and payload limits, like you cant use a bed camper on the new ram 1500, because the truck cant handle it.
@MoparHP You can't argue with someone named fordnissanchevy, they don't know what the hell they want. Im sure other haters will read this so let me edumicate them. The Chevy system was a 3 link and it was terrible because it did not keep axle movements in check when loaded and the truck became sloppy under load. The dodge is a 5 link system that keeps the axle static in location and allows for laterally travel in the vehicle, through an arc of approximately 2" total, left to right. PERFECTION!
@gruvens And the coil springs sags and makes the truck completly unstable. You'll find the warning for it in the glove box, or atleast you should, chrysler after all hides the bad stuff all the time.
@FordNissanChevy Rriigghhtttt and Ford had the recall on the cruise control switch for catching peoples homes on fire and killing them in their sleep. Nissan had recalls for using crap bolts attaching the cab to the frame, cabs were sheering off.
Chevy, they are owned by NObama, nuff said about that one.
@gruvens dodge had cars/trucks catching on fire, wheels falling off, minivans suddenly rolling backwards and killing kids, electrical problems, dashboards that were soo cheap they crack and crumble, faulty engines, seatbelts that would fail during a crash, cars that failed crash tests, denied warranty claims, avoid all recalls as much as possible and complete disregard for court orders. Now the are owned by fiat. Atleast Ford and Nissan take responsibility, I dont like chevy anymore...
@FordNissanChevy Not true, remember, box cars for freight trains utilize coil springs, in their systems. Also, tractor trailers use them, in conjunction with the trailer's air bag suspension. Must not have been that bad, since they're still being used for commercial and industrial transport.
@PBasser84 The ram has coil springs, most likely OFF THEIR 300C to save cash, the made the frame worse too. The springs on the ram are just regular coil springs, not train springs, not big rig springs, just a regular coil spring. Its ONLY advantage is comfort, it fails in towing, its unstable under load, the new RAM has a warning for that too.
@FordNissanChevy The Ram's coil springs are off of the JEEP line. But to be honest, I was just pointing out that coil springs are still being used, despite what you may think. Yes, even those train and tractor/trailer springs are coil springs, just bigger and thicker, respectfully . No leaf springs under either of 'em. You can hate on the Ram all you want, but if towing and payload is your big gripe, why are you chastising the 1500 and not looking at the Heavy Duty???
@PBasser84 because a heavy duty truck might be out of your price range, and all that extra towing power means you can tow regular loads without pushing the truck to its limits. A truck that can tow 11,300 lbs wont have a problem towing a 5000 lbs trailer. If you were going to be pulling 10 grand normal, you should get a super duty, the f150 can do it, but you'll have it at its limits, and doing it regularly, you eventually break something on it. same goes for all the trucks.
@FordNissanChevy Depending on what you're looking for, there isn't a huge leap in price difference, between the 1500 and the 2500. Same goes for the difference between the 2500 and the 3500. If you can afford a basic 1500 ST Regular Cab, with a long bed and HEMI, another $3,015 will step you up to the 2500 regular cab ST with longbed, HEMI included. Also the trailering package is standard, so it's the logical choice, for those wanting to make use of the towing and payload capabilities.
@PBasser84 well im checking bot sites, the f250 you can get for 5 grand less, the 5.4 doesnt have the power as the hemi, causing a 1000 lb towing difference, but you can add the 6.8 v10 for 700, then the the f250 can tow 2000 lbs more. the 5.7 hemi reg cab long bed can tow 13000 lbs
@FordNissanChevy So if you can afford an F-150 or a 1500 from Chrysler or GM, it won't take you much to upgrade to a more capable heavy duty, if towing and payload is your thing. Seems like a lot of people miss that point, when they bicker about what the Ram1500 can tow behind it. Personally, I find that the Ram 1500's 10,450-pound max towing capability is more than able to haul what I've got. Any one with a fith-wheel trailer or a camper that's going to bitch is looking at the wrong truck!
Nope, it's max trailer tow capacity is 10,450 pounds, with a max payload capacity of 1,900 pounds. If you don't believe me, check it out for your self. Seems like that's more than enough to be able to tow that 5,000 pound trailer, you spoke of erlier, without problems. I also think it will be ok, by the alleged warning label, in the glove box. My buddy, who's a service tech for the local Chrysler dealership is confident it is perfectly capable of that rating, too.
I'm confident that it's 10,450 and so is my friend, the service tech. The towing capacity is even listed on Ram's site. Also, the 3030 pound payload capability, on the F-150 is only achieved on the regular cab 4x2, with the Heavy-Duty Payload Package added. 3030 is not standard across the board. On a regular cab 4x4, it's 2740 pounds, with the Heavy-Duty Payload Package. It differs, depending on the configuration of the truck.
well it was the dodge site they should have been showing the 2010 stats, unless they sold so few 09 rams that they stopped production on all 2010 models till they sell the 2009 models hahaha
@JRT9097 I'm sorry you seem to be having such a poor experience with your Ram. I have a 2010 TRX4 Quad Cab, and I have to say that I have not experienced the truck dropping to the overlaod bushings, to be honest, I've had more then 500 pounds in the back, plus I use it to tow occasionally. Still no problems to speak of, and the truck has almost 9,000 miles on it. Every thing is in top shape, as if I drove it off the lot yesterday. I'm quite pleased with my Ram, wouldn't buy any thing else.
I dont know why but for some reason no matter how much I like the Doge Ram 1500 I still prefer the Nissan Titan Crue Cab, both have positives and negatives but for me the Nissan Titan Crue Cab is for me. Some things just cant be explained.
