  • Hello people of the world. Peace

  • such a soft spoken man. you know you can trust him because he is so nice and sweet.

  • " A hundred times every day I remind myself that my inner and outer life depend on the labors of other men, living and dead, and that I must exert myself in order to give in the same measure as I have received and am still receiving."Albert Einstein. I think that quote illustrates the principle central to this discussion: fairness.Free enterprise is great except for the fact that it's "free", not free.We don't need this behemoth power structure, I think; we should strive harder to reach liberty.

  • @Lamboragon Chomsky has stated many times that he might be wrong and that no person can ever obtain the truth; it's something to strive for, that's all. If you think that you fully understand economics and politics then you are living in lala land.

  • Noam, you are a hero to me!

Thanks for your wisdome and insites

  • Quite a speech. Hes saying like it is, 80% of worldpopulation aren't part of the world. As he speaks. Astonishing and crystal clear.

  • wheres the second part of this speech?

  • @nemesis700

try scrolling down to see the link

  • When Amy Goodman retires, there will only be right wing media left.

  • why don't you buy a channel on tv? I'll support you as i am sure many others will

  • Its disappointing to see some comments.. these people really believe what they see on fox. I have a question for people. Have you ever seen the outcome of the Nafta agreement in southern Mexico? Do you really understand the agenda WTO has? Does anyone actually believe that the mass genocide of indigenous people all over the world for profit is woth the outcome? Wheres the money going and how is it benefiting the people of the united states? I agree its always beneficial to hear outside sources

  • lol I so hope China is able to create a bi-polar situation soon. Seriously, someone needs to keep these pricks in check.

  • we the people need to celebrate this man like we do Lebron James

  • @kmg501

You removed your last line "let me guess comments must be approved...." If you were not living in a democracy you would have no opinion or comment on anything. You would never be allowed to have a fake profile.

  • @ThisBoyTV

Congratulations on being whiny instead of like most of these leftist sites that disable ratings and spontaneous comments. I'll give you that much credit.

    .

You may now go back to beating the Fairness Doctrine drum that most leftists these days pine for.

    .

  • @kmg501

It is simply meant to allow a different point of view. Is is wrong to allow voices other than those that are on mainstream media?

  • @kmg501 If you studied democratic societies, you would know that an independent media is CRUCIAL, and that the system absolutely depends upon it. Corporate consolidation of medias, selling media to the highest bidder, is antithetical, and I say incompatible, with democratic republics, or representative government of any kind.

    Have a great day.

  • @tristramshandy3

MSNBC fit your definition of "independent"?

Just so you know I consider all of the media suspect but the main stream media is beyond any argument heavily left liberal dominated.

  • @kmg501 No, MSNBC is owned by General Electric- a huge defense contractor and player in DC. If you recall, and I doubt you do, when the US was getting ready to invade Iraq, MSNBC fired their only anti-war host, Donahue, and replaced him with a far right freak- Savage.

Why would a liberal outlet do that?

    Oh yeah- they WOULDN'T.

What evidence do you have to suggest other mainstream outlets are "leftist", for I have not seen any.

    Thanks.

  • @kmg501 ....DOH..it's a little more than that genius. Have you read Madison and the federalist papers "protection of the opulent"....how about Ben Franklin's last speech...worried that our govt could devolve into. It's not so simple as searching for a word....it's the actions of the state that define it no? And Noam is 100% right. If what he says is offensive...well too bad..that doesn't make them any less true.

  • @davehutchinson67

Very funny you should mention that. For years I've worked to get Americans to understand that the government is actually working against them when they regulate more.

    .

    Please read: The Big Myth

    preview . tinyurl . com /govt-failer

    .

  • @kmg501 Your missing the point. The govt itself needs to have money removed...all of it from the election process. As for corporations....I say regulate the living fuck out of em after the stunts they have been pulling. BTW, in case you haven't noticed..corporate america is doing just fine...United Healthcare up 31% just to name one...but others are flourishing and doing great..but where is the money for loans and business expansion..nowhere to be seen. fuck corporate america.

  • @davehutchinson67

Apparently you didn't read the link I gave you. If you had you would have realized that we are mostly on the same side with the difference being one of us actually understands how the process works. You aren't stupid, you're just deceived.

    .

  • @davehutchinson67 - take all the money out of elections , but the party who controls those Diebold machines wins. It is a FACXT, that digital information formatted inside a circuit and transmitted through networks CANNOT be made secure. They can be HACKED. The theft of the 2000 and 2004 elections was made simple via the Diebold machine. Watch the Steve Spoonamore video on youtube THe IT guy who was flipping votes was Mike connell. The month he agreed to talk, his plane.......crashed!

  • @kmg501 - Thank you . This is 100% correct.

  • @kmg501 they also understood the danger of consolidated wealth, and nowhere in the constitution do they mention corporations. But somehow, the right wing screams free speech as corporate cash pollutes our airwaves, and distorts and purchases our elections.

You are screaming at the fly while the elephant sodomizes your children :) Oh wait, you are a child. Watch out for that elephant!

  • @tristramshandy3

Corporations don't scare me as much as the bureaucrats who collude with them and certainly are far less dangerous than the Federal Reserve is.

  • @kmg501 Corporations shoyuld scare you MORE than any bureaucrat- the bureaucrats come and go- the corporations remain in power.

For example, Goldman Sachs doesn't give a shit if you vote for dems or repubs. They own both parties.

I think you are a typical american- brainwashed into fearing govt instead of the banks and defense contractors. It's all a marketing shell game, and they've got you trapped in fear and ignorance.

    How lovely :)

  • @tristramshandy3

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Wall Street is dominated by progressives. They are the ones that dumped Hillary & went for Obama in 2008. Wall Street is progressive because they make money on govt debt & largess. And if that isn't enough for you then look at this spending chart of the last 20 years.

    opensecrets . org/orgs /list . php?order=A

Now you tell me where the influence comes from...

  • @kmg501 define the word "progressive" please- me thinks you be misusing that term.

  • @kmg501 I guess your on your last stand. Mob rule, yes there is a mob ruling the states. The constitution is down the toilet, the world is fucked up, wars are waging, 1 percent of the us controls 99 percent of all the wealth, the us is becoming a third world country. Proud of the bank bailout, bet your saving were saved by the taxpayer. You pile of shit, you think your on the winning team, idiot.

  • @halftimeman

Wow, talk about clueless and full of assumptions. You think I'm a corporatist? Wrong on that count. You think I'm a collectivist? Wrong on that count. You think I'm in favor of crony capitalism? Wrong again. You think I'm rich? Only with the knowledge of how we are all being played.

Do you understand that Keynesian economics got us to where we are? Do you understand that it is central bankers with Keynesian economics that have kept the war machine funded?

    How old are you?

  • @kmg501 Many of the framers also owned slaves. So can we also assume you are in favor of slavery?

  • @tomblack2112

Of course I'm not in favor of slavery. You would have to be an idiot or ideological whack job to jump to such an inane & disjointed conclusion. It might do you some good to ready history more, there was great debate & turmoil over the issue of slavery when the founders & framers were drawing up the constitution. They took the best possible route, they designed it to be a liberty document by which eventually the horror of slavery would be exposed.

  • @kmg501 haha, read his books and you'll understand that he doesn't support andy party and he's not 'leftist' or 'rightist' as he understands how the world works. If you're american (which i'm guessing you are) you are ignorant to not understand you're country is run by corporations and that all of you're main media outlets are run by corporations.

  • @kmg501

..in a democracy, freedom is index of the passivity that the institution has been able to cultivate in its constiutuents. we need moew [eople lke Noam that care enough.

  • how does noam still do this all over the world to this day, he is a true hero of in therm of what he has done towards bettering the world

  • It isn't difficult to research the last 60 years and realise that the picture portrayed in the popular media is a long way from the picture that the evidence paints. Of course, it's much easier to believe what you are told by celebrities or corporations. I'm with George Carlin on this one, we have a front row seat to the circus. Time to sit back and watch our own destruction. yipee

  • If only the media-contolling oligarchy ( e.g.Murdoch) would allow Chomsky's views, and the views of other dissidents to be aired in the mainstream press, then we would have some real freedom of speech and democracy. The control of public opinion by sinister organizations like FOX, even if it affects the vote by only the 3-4% necessary to ensure election of their man to the oval office,

makes a complete mockery of our so-called "democracy".

  • Kermit "Kim" Roosevelt's Operation Ajax within the CIA assassinated Iran's democratically-elected President, Mohammed Mossadegh.

  • In 1953 Kermit "Kim" Roosevelt, grandson of Teddy Roosevelt, orchestrated the CIA's assassination of democratically elected President of Iran, Mohammed Mossadegh, turning Iran from a Democratic state into a "Pro-American" Monarchy.

  • @AnonymousWhitePerson Are you surprised?

America gives only lip-service to the concept of democracy, at home - e.g. the fraudulent installation of Dubya as president by a politicized judiciary - or abroad. Public opinion and therefore elections and policy are manipulated by a press-owning oligarchy, with a vested interest in promulgating the conservative (judeo)Christian agenda - even if at a prophesy-fulfilling Apocalyptic cost to the world.

Ever wonder why we are called "the great satan"?

  • @vjwebster,

    Three examples of Oligarchy:

The Roman Republic, the Republic of Venice, and the United States of America

  • i am so tired of this western world who's policy towards the east is one of suppression and underestimation. instead they should adopt policies that are encouraging and supportive gaining their trust. to also know that these countries have also people nature scientists good people and bad people like any other nation. these policies just lead to escalation of tension and will result in wars.

  • @arabian11knight

For decades Noam keeps telling us to talk with one an another as citizens. The more we do it the more we see the liars who tell lies. The technology is here for us to communicate with each other.

  • SALT was B.S. All power countries have nukes. China, Korea, Iran, Russia, Israel and USA

  • 7:23; One example of Chomsky manipulative use of "facts" , Israel does not have any nuclear submarines, its just one example, but Chomsky does this rather liberally, presenting bogus or un-verifiable "facts" in a scientific, serious tone and goes on to extract conclusion from it

  • @hargilad

kind of the same way Israel doesn't have nuclear missiles (wink wink)

  • @hargilad they have 3 dolphine frensh nuclear capable subs , and two american subs of unknown make!

  • @hargilad the dolphine submarines are diesel submariens not nuclear. as to whether Israel have nuclear missiles, its probably true, but this is not the question here. I am just saying that Chomsky is doing these "mistakes" from time to time - saying things that are simply not true, quoting them as facts and then building on them a theory that justifies his political views. I am not saying that he is the only one that doing it, I am just recommending to be skeptical about Chomsky's analysis.

  • @hargilad

He is giving an overview in his opening remarks on the NPT. That is the main thrust of his opening. It would be wrong to dismiss what he is saying about the NPT on one point. We know that Israel has nuclear capabilities even though they will not formally admit it. Telling people to be skeptical is telling people to dismiss his overall insight and wisdom.

  • Chomsky... RESPECT :)

  • Love this man!!!

  • Every one check out Dean Baker. I liken him to a Chomsky of economics

  • I don't know how he does it with a straight face. He has to be so fucked up.

  • I love this man , honest, decent, truly intelligent.

  • Comment removed

  • I love Noam Socrates.

  • only 3000 views for this. the state of affairs is unbelievable.

  • @thedelta88

    True

  • See, as soon as she says "dissident" she might as well say "this guy is a whacko". Why fall into the trap laid by Fox etc. ??? Why not say political commentator or some such.

By the way, the need for the US to strike against Iran is akin to Mike Tyson in his heyday needing to strike against a 5 year old kid because that kid might in some implausible outcome might throw a pebble against his shin

  • This little series was great, thanks for posting!!!

  • Keep it up Democracy Now! We need you guys

  • We really do need Democracy Now. I've noticed that they're trying to get some new people some experience now, which is good. I'm afraid of what will happen once Amy Goodman retires.

  • @perciusmercius

Most likely will continue doing specials :)

  • @perciusmercius

What about when Chomsky retires! That'll definitely be a dark day!

  • @Diosibundo

Chomsky won't 'retire' ....they'll carry him out on his shield.

  • @willwak

I said "retire" because I can't bear teh thought of him not being around, actually.
