You guys should do more researching. I also suggest watch a video by Yusuf Estes, and I also read a few Hadiths myself - music (singing)- is not haram per say - because during the time of the prophet Muhammad (saaw), people were singing and reading poetry all the time. What IS haram however, is what you sing and yes, the use of the old arabic drum is the only instrument allowed.

You may refute. But for what I know, this is what i'm telling. There are different translations depending on scholar

Music is without a doubt Haram,It states so in the Quran and the Sunnah.The only thing permissible is a drum for certain occasions such as weddings.Poetry and Nasheed is acceptable.Islam is a religion which is based on What Allah Says(the Quran) and what the Prophet SAWS said ( The Authentic Hadith) Beware of these ignorant Moderinst who are ignorant on Islam and the teachings. They make up there new 2010 version of Islam as if The Prophet saws and the Sahaba got it wrong.
