I love the way this band makes music change. We're always afraid of change, sometimes agressive about it. And Radiohead succeeded in making us think about it. They make music that you can't understand if you're not opened to change, freedom in music. These guys have more to tell us on songwriting than any of those bands out there. They are the shepherds. We are the sheep.
This is amazing. This is some of the most interesting work they've ever done I think. Seeing them play this on just drums, bass, guitars and vocals is really cool. So unique.
I was kind of disappointed with this FTB. The camerawork sucked, everything was really cluttered and there were too many guest musicians. The actual songs are great, but we've heard these versions before (except for Codex and Feral). Didn't really add anything new to the table like IRFTB did.
I really do wonder how they'll play all these songs live without Clive and without the horns. I guess Jonny's gonna be manning the drum machines/obscure 30 year old synths as per usual. Which is good.
@FlyingFuckstorm What? We've heard these versions before? I hope you're not referring to Glastonbury, because they were performed after this was recorded. And how did they "add anything new to the table" for In Rainbows from the Basement? In Rainbows was an album that was meant to translate easily into a live setting, so I'm not really sure I know what you're saying.
As for Clive, I think he'll be touring with them, but I'm not too sure. Clive is the man.
@perfectupper90 I am referring to Glastonbury. You know why I'm referring to Glastonbury? Because Glastonbury happened before this was released, so we heard it before this. Logically speaking. IRFTB had new sounds and versions of all the live In Rainbows songs (Most noticeable on Videotape, House of Cards, Go Slowly etc.) and new, drastically improved versions of old songs (Where I End And You Begin and Myxomatosis namely)
@FlyingFuckstorm I don't really understand what you want them to differently for TKOLFTB. This is probably the first time they performed the tracks collectively. They're probably still trying to get everything down before they go into a different direction. So at least you get to hear high quality versions. And as for IRFTB, I don't think there were very many drastic changes for the songs, with a few exceptions of course. I do agree that the cinematography wasn't as good as the IR session.
@perfectupper90 I'm not saying it's the fault of the band in any way. I'm just not was wow'd as I was hoping to be. The King of Limbs in general, while being a good album, was still disappointing for me by Radiohead standards. I think no matter how amazing the live versions are I'm not gonna have my mind blown to space by them considering I didn't have my mind blown by the studio versions.
The fact that I'd already heard these versions from Glastonbury just makes it far less exciting for me.
@techblank I don't blame you for liking In Rainbows more. I respect that. But. you say you don't know how they'd play this live. THIS is how it's played live :P
Thats not what I said. I'm just wondering how good will this album be in a concert. Although I know how they can enrich their songs in concerts. I'm just saying that they're not gonna win any new fans from this album, and thats fine by me. It won't make me like them less or anything. I just think they had a lot of time, since In rainbows which was 2006 to release something better and more lengthy.
@techblank this album alone got me into radiohead and they've been my favorite band for the past few months. Everything from Pablo to TKOL is amazing.
I have mixed emotions about this album. Don't get me wrong I'm a big radiohead fan, but TKOL compaired to In Rainbows is just weak for me. And I can't see how this album is going to work in a live concert.
Wow, the way the Guitars kick in the end is amazing. Also the horn section in the middle really makes this song. For some reason this album makes more sense live, has anyone listened to Give Up the Ghost its bloody brilliant.

This is dreadful. Here you have one of the best living guitarists and he's just hitting drums like a gorilla. New Radiohead is not Radiohead. They should rename to Thom Yorke's and his Pretentious Ego Trippers to preserve what was once a great band.
@leeewo I disagree. Jonny is there to make music. I am pretty sure he loves what he is doing, or he would have backed out already, as they, as they've said before, already have all the money they'll ever need.
@huliheaden I'm not convinced that this is the music he would prefer to be making. If you take a look at Phil and Jonny's solo stuff and compare it to Thom's solo stuff, you'll see that Thom is the biggest influence on Radiohead. The Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses single (although written by Jonny but the original version was NOTHING like what was released) is nearly impossible to tell from TKOL stuff despite it being released under Thom Yorke's name...
... I'm convinced that if Thom were to only write lyrics and have no input whatsoever on the rhythms or melodies, we'd not have anything like TKOL to listen to.
@leeewo True. But you shouldn't expect another OK Computer by doing that either. I have a feeling that if that were to happen, it would sound like an electronic mix between Hail To The Thief and possibly a bit Norwegian Wood-ish. That'd be awesome though..

@huliheaden Yeah.. :( Thom's music taste has changed far too much for another OK Computer. He's like the proverbial guy who won the lottery and became a dick because of it. It's wishful thinking on my part but I thought that he'd at least give the Radiohead fans what they want... Radiohead!
@leeewo Radiohead is made up of 5 people + Nigel Godrich. Everyone has an impact on the final result. It boggles my mind how so closed minded people can say they are 'Radiohead fans'. More like 'OKC fans', really. And I cited their love for electronica but, as this FTB shows prove, TKOL is much less electro e much more jazzy and organic that it seems at first listen. It takes an amazing band to put that album live, and Radiohead is that one band.
