I love the Video and I have coverd this song myself. I have only been playing for a year and i'm self tought...I'll share my cover please let me know what you think as far as style tech..ect.
@ghostladylvl50 Thanks so much for the kind words. Old Time Rock-N-Roll is a great song and a lot of fun to play. Keep up the good work, let me know if you have any questions, and thanks for watching
@hungwell90 As I'm sure you are well aware, after being in drum corps for 9 years, reading is a must!! If you don't like using a double pedal, don't. There are a lot of great books and DVD's to help develop your foot speed. Check out my book, The School Of Hard Rocks. It has a lot of exercises to help develop your feet and hand, speed and coordination.
hi i have a question im the drummer of my band ive been playing for 2 moths now ppl say i got talent but theres a problem i dont have a drum at home and can only play once a week at school could u maybe sugest me a good drum that is affordable for some1 around age 14-15?
@salogeo Thanks for the question. I would suggest the Gretsch Catalina Maple. They are great and affordable drums. You can check them out on the Gretsch web site.
@salogeo I would say to work out and eat right. ; ) Just kidding. The way to achieve anything in the music business is to practice practice practice. Thanks for the question.
That's a great version of Old Time, and I love the Nine Tonight CD. However, for our first two CDs with Titan we tried to stay as close as possible to the original versions of the songs, from Seger's studio recordings. We do have a new acoustic CD of Seger's music coming out Titan any day now, (watch for it on I-Tunes) and it has Old Time with that guitar intro. It's a completely different version, but I think you'll like it. Check it out.
@bartrobley Thanks, I was going to ask if you know the chords for the intro of Old Time (Nine Tonight version) I am wanting to try it out on my guitar.
@segerfan It has been uploaded to I-Tunes and should be up for sale any day now. Find me on Facebook and you can watch for updates. I post new things that are happening with the band all the time.
@napalmfred Not at all, thanks for the feedback! Ya know we used a foot cam in a lot of places on that video shoot, but not on this song because it's a just four on the floor. Nothing real fancy. Ya know? Thanks for watching, and I will take your advice under consideration during my next shoot.
@bartrobley Thanks so much for your reply. I liked this video quite a bit. Simple song, but you look like you're having fun. Isn't that what it's all about??
@napalmfred Oh ya. It's a great song and very simple to play. Like I always say it doesn't need to be hard to play to be good. Thanks again for watching.
@Hammerhead786 I Thanks so much for the kind words. Like I said in the video, I read through the chart that comes with my DVD as a demonstration for beginners. I appreciate your opinion. That is the great thing about You Tube, everyone has a voice. Thanks for watching and happy drumming

Just dropped by the say hello! Nice vids and sound. You are to be commended for the attention you give to the young guns that write to you here on Youtube. The fact that you reply to practically every single one means an awful lot to them, and gives them great encouragement. You are a fine drumming role model, and I wish you continued success.
@j0hnss0n Thanks for the question. No they're a 14" Dark K Custom on the top and Master Sound on the bottom. I have since become a Bosphorus endorser. Now I'm playing the Stanton Moore Fat Hats and I LOVE THEM!!. If you get a chance check them out.
very nice man. simple smooth keeping it flowing thats what i like about drumming. you dont gotta go insane playing . take your time and make a beat and fills fit the context of the song =]
@bartrobley yea man ive been drumming for like 3 years or so . im not great but im dedicated . i like to play stuff from funk to metal . im not sick or super fast or anything but i love learning everyday. you should make some videos showing techniques, fills, licks, hand to feet combos etc . or you can just message me and help me out a little bit =] . your welcome man !
Good Eye! Yes the cymbals in this video are Zildjian. I was not on the Bosphorus roster when we shot this DVD. I switched shortly after wards. If you watch some of my more recent posts they are all Bosphorus.
hey bart the drums sound awesome i had a tama rockstar but didnt like the heads so i put hydraulic glass heads which sounded really good i love this song ty for putting this video on here sounds good
No worries, thanks for the question. Like I said in the video, my DVD comes with this version of Old Time Rock-N-Roll. It has the drums pulled out and a play along chart. I was reading the chart that comes with the DVD.
Oh yeah... so played like it is in the chart... so it will be easier for the people that has it... and wants to see how it is ment to be played, as in the chart...
Thanks! The Kick drum is a Super Kick II with no muffling in side the drum. The snare drum head is a High Velocity tuned pretty tight. The toms are Coated Single Ply. I tune the toms a little higher than usual. More like a jazz drummer would to get that nice tone. For more info on set up and tuning, check out my DVD, Drums ASAP, on Centerstream / Hal Leonard.
Thanks Bart this is a great song I am a drummer in a classic rock band and we do this song It never fails to get people up and dancing. thanks again.
