  • 0:30 that weird moment the first time you played trying to figure out if Samus was going to be a black chick or a white one...

  • What is cleared in one hour! Amazing!

  • @ZAPPSOFT the metroid meaning the ones on SR-388 if u dont no still alsou can get the bikini ending in america too but only if u beat the game in less than an hour

  • Samus is damn hot.

  • This is "The Space!" ;3

  • One thing I notice about all nintendo's original characters next to mario is they all have brown hair. Somehow blonde must be more appealing to the masses as even Link and Samus suddenly had themselves given that hair change.

I think Samus with brown hair is awsome. AND ORIGINAL! D:<

  • That's it... take off your suit so we can see your pixelated body... Mmmm...

  • whats a girl doing in space shouldnt she be in the kitchen :P jk

  • @xXParrallaxXx i said sumtin like that to a girl once a couple seconds l8r i was on my knees from the pain lol

  • I'm afraid to take off my super hightech armor suit,.....never know what im gonna find out ._.

  • 2 people thought that Samus was a dude....

  • okay a girl in bikini

    ON SPACE!

    wtf

  • HOLY CRAP IM A GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wheres Gunpei Yokoi?

  • All your base are belong to us!

  • I remember the feeling of accomplishment I felt when I first beat this game. Granted that it was a bit dulled because I used a map to find all the items, but not enough to keep a tear from coming to my eye. Thank god for the internet.

  • Why is Samus's Zero Suit pink instead of either black or blue, and why does she have brown hair?

  • @searchin4hentai They obviously changed her look throughout the years.

  • @searchin4hentai

because that was her original design, like princesses Zelda and Toadstool which were brown haired at this time, too. :)

Samus blue suit happens way after, I guess in zero mission on GBA. That's kind of a reboot of her design.

  • I heard that you can also play the game as her in her bikini.

  • @AGrayPhantom you can just got to gamespot and look in hints and cheats code in in there

  • *sheds tear*

    *sniff*

    *sigh*

    Goodbye Metroid...

I'll never forget what you used to be...

  • PRAY FOR A TRUE PEACE IN THE SPACE! xD

  • @Ranmaru02 PRAY FOR A TRUE SAFETY IN THE JAPAN NATION!

  • @joe9320 WORD.

  • Two fools hit the Dislike button.

  • The sound is so much better.

  • I never knew there was a famicom disk version.... Was it like a floppy disk?

  • @wrmaldonado yes it was sort of like that but smaller. These were distributed through machines like Redbox. You'd put the money in and pick the game you wanted. They were even rewritable.

  • @wrmaldonado it's a CD

  • Man i love this song. i used to beat this game so i could listen to the credits hahaha

  • @TheTyphus25 Me too!

  • It may sound cheap ... but breaks my nostalgic heart

  • i like 1:26 and forward

  • has anybody ever notice the heart shape on samuses suit while shes flashing.thats right.i said she

  • I've compared the two, and despite the extra channel, I don't think they used it very well, nor do I think the sound is better. I prefer the NES version. 0:19 - 0:42 is a fairly good use of it though. Other than that, it doesn't seem to fit well.

Also, (Old) Full Metal Alchemist soundtrack song Hagane no Kokoro (at the end) chording reminds me of the 0:49 - 1:04 part every time.

  • sexy clasic samus

  • there's my BFF!! :)

  • No doubt, this completely blew...no, nuked a lot of guys minds back in the '80s.

  • um... i know you're all staring at her in a bikini but did anyone notice the "But it may be invaded by the other metroid" part?, is that what the Other M is in the new metroid game?

  • dang! press start!

  • This was changed in America, because of the bikini.

  • 1:05 - 1:27 :D

  • not different from the nes version, at all

  • @slaymaster999 It has one more channel of synthesizers i think listen to it. a may be wrong

  • @KAZZNORE Yeah, but still slapping the "cheap" label on it is a little overkill. I mean it is a different system anyways, it's like comparing the NES and SNES =\

  • @vesko96 i never knew there was a famicon or whatever till 2 years ago. i dont know much about it but i am a music producer and i happen to notice a difrense on the track so i just pointed it. but you are right in a way.

  • The US "suitless" ending actually isn't censored.

There are actually 2 "suitless" endings in Metroid. Beat the game fast as possible you get the bikini ending. Take slightly longer you get the one-piece swimsuit version.

Getting the bikini ending does not effect the replay costume you get though. Its still the Justin Bailey version unaltered.

  • Interesting that she is wearing a bikini in the Japanese Version in the american ending shes wearing a swimsuit. I believe don't quote me on that. Japan has a tendency to "censor" the games when ported. Also what is this "Other Metroid they warn you about at the end of the game.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, it did sound better. It was between NES and Genesis

  • Space may be invaded by THE OTHER M

  • So in the FDS version she has a bikini, but in the NES version she has a one piece. I'm confused. :S

  • @lilunderscorejunebug This ending is also in NES version if you complete the game under I think 1 hour.

  • @SuperLordosis Makes sense.

  • heh hip tanaka

  • no one else is surprised that they are using English language for ending text in a Japanese game?

  • @JBau3rCTU Not really. It's quite common, actually.

  • Woah woah woah.........SAMUS IS A GIRL!?

  • LOL

  • Samus:"HOLY CRAP IM A GIRL" GEnder confused

  • @bealtespip123

    No shit.

  • your joking, right?

  • @bealtespip123 NO! (of course.)

  • @bealtespip123 You terds. And samus is supposed to be blonde

  • @bealtespip123 I might change her look to look more like her current look.

  • @bealtespip123 that was exactly everyone was trying to find out when this first came out,lol

  • @bealtespip123 You didn't know it?

  • @bealtespip123 Because she had the Power Suit in this game, that's why.

  • @bealtespip123 Yeah, and she has brown hair as well

  • How can breath without power suit :D

  • wow great sound =D

  • lol, when i was watching a game show some guy found out samus was a girl and said (WHAT?! SAMUS IS A F***ING GIRL?!? *throws controller* *goes to window*)

and then they used some sort of puppet that looked like him and threw it from the window xD

  • BIKINI TIME!!

  • "pray for a true peace in the space!"

  • I sure hope the space doesn't get attacked again by the other metroid.

  • Who wasn't suprised when they found out Samus was a girl?

  • I wonder why they showed metroid's girlfriend. Metroid is an awesome killing robot, eh doesn't even need a girlfriend.

  • Eh,#1,metroid doesn't have a girlfriend or is a robot,THAT was her! and #2,her name is Samus, metroiods are the jellyfish things that like to hump your head.

  • hahahahah!

  • @Wolfeh92 I think Metroid is a pretty cool guy, eh has a gurlfriend and doesn't affraid of anything

  • This is some kind of hacked rom. Women don't save the day, they bake cakes and roast pots.

  • ROTFL

  • I love this game... Ahh... Memories....

  • Samus is a woman...????

  • you never knew that? Samus is the awesome...

  • JK, that was my question 20 years ago...

  • XD rofl

  • 0:35 She's almost naked? 0_o

  • lol, she looks like Jody Summer (FZero, X, GX & AX)

  • metroid is an alien. Samus is a girl. N00b.

  • fail

  • I love how people can't take a joke. :3

  • srry, we cant tell internet sarcasm

  • LIES!

  • hip tanaka ichi ban

  • I think it refers to the metroids you have to capture in 'Metroid 2'

  • GUNPEI YOKOI!!!!!!! WOOOOOOHH!!!!!! Best game designer ever with Shigeru Miyamoto!

  • 1:04 give me the chills

  • well its my fave part and this is my fave ending song! m2ros ending is my 2nd fav

  • 懐かしい。。。

    メトロイドとFFⅡのエンディング曲は未だに好きだな。

  • the star fox ending theme sounds a lot like this

  • That's even better than the SNES sound O__O

  • That Samus is even better than the SNES Samus O__O

    ..lol

  • You think this sounds good, check out the Japanese version of Castlevania 3, Akumajo No Densetsu

  • Remember, the Japanese version was on the Famicom Disk System, which added extra sound hardware.

But you had to buy MORE hardware to play it.

Our version worked in a base NES.

Our's also has better beam ice/wave beam sounds.

And the ability to play as suitless Samus after you beat the game.

And most importantly, FAR less loading time when you start the game or take an elevator.

So don't be so quick to say we got the short end of the stick.

  • So basically this was the 32X of the NES era! That makes me laugh at all the people who drool over the FDS and whine that it never made it over here.

Although yes, I must admit, the sound quality IS awesome. But if what you're saying is right, I'd have to say definitely not worth the cost.

  • At the same time, the FDS has writeable memory. It was far more reliable than the battery system in the Zelda cartridge, and it allowed you to save files in Metroid and others instead of using a password system. Fair tradeoffs if you ask me. All in all, I would rather have had the top-loading Famicim design in the US with Lost Levels instead of the Doki Doki Panic ripoff and a disk system that saved games. We didnt get the short end of the stick, but I still like the Famicom better than the NES.

  • Sort of.

The FDS' big selling point was REALLY cheap games. You could buy a FDS disk, go to any store with a writer, and put a new game on the disk.

Even if you bought a new disk for every game, it was like five bucks, and the price of ROM chips meant that FDS games were also larger than any NES game could be(200$ NeoGeo carts?).

But... ROM prices crashed, and pirates adopted the FDS. So Nintendo killed it. Mostly. Until 2003, you could mail in a disk and change, and they'd rewrite the disk.

  • Errr, sort of to the 32x comment. Not my own.

  • It is worth it if youre a collector. Its a must have then. And the fds had so many games what the nes didnt have. doki doki panic,

  • True. Never underestimate the value of a collector's item. I bet it won't be too long before even a functioning NES is worth a lot more than the system originally cost (if it isn't already).

  • Holy shit, that sounds ten times better than our version!

  • Yeah... we pretty much got jeped at times.
