  • impressive grip strength, you should try suitcase deadlifts, really gives your core muscles a good workout!

  • I love all the negative responses about how it's so easy, post some vids then errbody else!

  • doing this motion with his hand is like doing a one handed pullup with your other hand on the your wrist...

  • Really good lift. People have no idea what they are talking about.

  • dont kn0w what the deal is u just need a grip

  • 1 hand? but then uses the other hand on his leg to lift it? lol what

thats like doing a 1 arm pull up and using your other hand to grab your wrist and pullup

  • Strong grip. He must be single.

  • Comment removed

  • lol @ terrible push up form in the background

  • Now do it without having your other hand on your leg.

  • nice. did you know jesus invented the thumbs up when he rose from the dead?

  • Just saying, he pushed off his right leg with his hand to give him an extra boost...

  • Impressive, you did 315 with one hand as easy as I do with two hands. My one handed deadlift, by comparison, is a mere 205 lbs but with not quite as much precision and control.

  • nevermind whether the deadlift was in proper form or not. the focus here is the grip strength. if the grip was a hook grip it's an impressive lift. If the grip wasn't hooked it's VERY impressive considering the size of the guy!

  • Good grip strength

  • herniated disks , party of one

  • Nice grip strength but not much more, the hand on the thigh takes about 40+ pounds off it. I have a video of me pulling 315 1 handed no hand on thigh (I do use a strap though:(

  • Great lift. It sure sounded light though. You are probably the ONLY PERSON IN THE WORLD who can do this with the weight on an Olympic Barbell.

  • search one handed deadlifts on youtube and you will find plenty of people doing 400-500 pounds easy 1 handed....

  • some very high quality muscle here

  • Lol you dont have to be "huge" to lift a ton of weight but your muscles will be denser than average. Look at professional lifters, some of them look fat which aids via static weight for the lift.

  • very strong for his size incredible

  • lifting extremely heavy weights that you can only do a couple reps with = pure power and not much muscle gain.

lifting moderately heavy weights in which you can do 12+ reps with = muscle gains but not much pure strength gain.

lifting lightweights that you can do 20+ reps with = endurance gains but little size or power gains.

  • legend: looks like he's a powerlifter. Meaning he works with ultra-explosive-training. muscle mass isn't needed for pure strength....big muscles don't mean shit. big muscles are for looks. powerlifting training is for those who actually care about lifting heavy and not focusing on how to get bigger muscles.

  • This doesn't make alot of sense. The kid looks small as hell but can pick up 315 with one hand??? Have any of you actually tried this?? It's extremely hard. I just started doing these and can manage 225. I'm wondering if these are "real" 45's???? If it is I give him props......

  • i think they are real...just my intuitive feeling

  • hey man you shat out your spine let me get that for ya. (shove back in ass)

  • You suck ass at lifting

  • nice

  • I don't know if doing this exercise regularly is a good idea.

  • Comment removed

  • hhaha defo not 315

  • I don't know if that's what 315 sounds like when you put it down. I mean if you slow it down but he did not slow it down enough Even then it has a more solid sound. When you drop 315 pounds it is loud......Who cares

  • For all you haters out there, this video looks legit. This guy is genetically gifted and can lift a ton of weight for his size. Those are indeed 45lb plates, and he does dead lift it to his thigh, and pose for the camera. There aren't many people who can budge 315 off the ground, let alone dead lift it and hold it at the top. Give respect where it's due, even if the kid is a bit cocky.

  • 315 or not, he still had his other hand on his quad for support. Not a true deadlift.

  • i cant beleive your serious right now. In case you are...TRY IT! you might then realize that its about grip strength. most people could not even double overhand that.

  • are you kidding me? its all about grip strength. 315 is a small weight for the rest of the body to lift.

  • @dru2123 its not a deadlift knuckle head. its a fucking farmers hold. and if you think its easy why dont you try it.

  • LOL @ the story comments

  • Nice lift. Looks like you could have gone heavier.

"The Tight Tan Slacks of Dezso Ban" blog did an entry on the one-handed deadlift and variations. In it it said "Hermann Goerner at a bodyweight of about 220 pounds performed a one arm deadlift with 727.5 pounds"

  • That looks painful. That jerky lift with your hand on your hip. I don't know man.

  • lol!

Nice try, BUT those plates were NOT 45lb plates.....we both know that!

  • Totally agree with you. There is no way the bar would move / sound like that at 315. I can't believe that no one else has said this.

  • Dont be so ridiculous. That IS 315. Why would he be using fake plates in a commercial gym. That is what 315 sounds like putting it down, otherwise it wouldnt have sounded like that. You picking up what I am putting down, son?

  • yeah, well, I built the Pyramids all myself!. then I carved out the Grand Canyon with my bare hands, too. after that, I dug out the Panama Canal just for the hell of it. and that's that.

  • man back in my old vietnam army days, i once deadlifted 700bs with my left pinkie but then a slight earthquake occured and i lost my pinkie grip...it bar tore my finger right out of my hand, and the pinkie was still gripped to the bar....then i gt shot by sm gook and died, unfortunately i didnt make a video to prove this

  • well i'm happy to know they got Youtube in hell... Will make things more interesting when I get there.

  • yesterday i was balancing a car on my head while deadlifting 1200pounds with 1 hand, anyway, a sudden gust of wind suddenly threw machetes at me and it sliced my head off completely!

unforunately i have no video to proof this.

  • Awesome Man!

You must have one strong grip to hold up 315 lbs with one hand!

Keep it up and before you know it you'll be reppin that weight!

  • dude ONE TIME i was deadlifting 800 pounds mann with my pinky and this crazy thing happened the bar snapped and sliced my arm off.

  • @spartan4745 same thing happened to me man! now I deadlift 800 with one arm lol

  • WOW, thanks for mentioning that! I didn't notice.

  • 727.5 one arm dead lift that is i forgot to put that in there.

  • That's for you to be the judge. There should be disputes to the claim he could do a one arm dead lift with one hand supposedly he only weighted 185 pounds. Which would mean he could lift nearly 4 times his body weight with one hand. That would create some skeptics. We may never know if he really did it or not. I believe he did but that may just be me your entitled to your beliefs and opinions on Goerner.

  • chicken shit

  • goooood.... but i wanna see dis guy try doing this with 5 reps, slow engages and releases

  • For those wondering what the world record is in the one arm dead lift its 727.5 pounds set by Hermann Goerner in 1928. He did this at a body weight of 220 pounds. He could also one arm snatch 264.55 pounds, and one arm clean 297.62 pounds. His record of a one arm dead lift will be tough to be beat. However your friend should be proud of his 315 one arm dead lift alot of people cant do that feat.

  • Hermann Goerner's records and claims are HIGHLY disputed as are many of the very old time strongmen.

  • BEAST

  • i cant even do that with both hands, though im only 15 and weigh a bit more than 1/3rd the barbell

  • Far more impressive huh? You still have 315 squishing your thumb. Impressive lift, hook or not. It helps but does not make it any easier. Some of you youtubers are really getting bad at your e-bullshitting.

  • Some of you hoople heads get really bad with posting before you fully read and understand what others have posted or take the time to learn something about the topic being discussed. I'm sure you're like many people that can't really take the pain of the hook grip, but until you man up and try it, you'll never realize that there is an advantage to it. Read a couple posts down where odinsundin posted records in the 1handDL. It's pretty obvious what advatage one gets from the hook grip.

  • VERY NICE, that's a lot more difficult than it looks.

  • old time lifts > modern day bodybuilding (IMO)

    nice job!

  • its harder than it looks

  • Nice job, bro.

  • not fake record is 700 something, 500+ is common. He is cheating though by using off hand that makes it a lot easier. I've done 225 for reps not using off hand, haven't tried 315.

  • FAKE!

  • that had to be fake

  • nope

  • that was amazing never seen it done before either I could never do that because I don't have good grip at all. Good Work!

  • Very impressive. Looks like he's pushing off his thigh with his other hand but still really remarkable. Especially since he doesn't look like that much. Functional strength at it's best. A++

LOL @ the guys trying to pull him down

  • sigh, i tried these for the first time yesterday, and got up to 205. my grip was so bad, i had to drop it though

  • whaaaat the fuck???

  • holy shit! that was crazy!

  • Not bad, but let's see it without the hook grip!

  • what hook grip? he lifted that with his hands ..

  • I think he's referring to the olympic hook grip (where the lifter rolls over the index and middle finger on top of the thumb as opposed to having the thumb rolling over the middle and index fingers.)

Honestly, I don't know why he'd say that since the hook grip doesn't really provide anything extra on a deadlift. Where it counts and where it makes the difference, however, is with explosive oly lifts like the clean and jerk.

  • Hook grip makes a tremendous difference in the 1H DL: From legendary David Horne's website, note the difference in weight lifted (and especially Frank Ciavattone, who has records in both categories-255.1 KG with hook grip and 151.3 KG WITHOUT hook grip):

One Hand Deadlift using an Olympic bar (WITH a HOOK grip)

276.6k Steve Ekdal (did his deadlifts with the bar at the front of his body)

    255.1k Frank Ciavattone

One Hand Deadlift using an Olympic bar (with NO hook grip)

    151.3k Frank Ciavattone

  • Yeah buddy! I'm surprised none of the hoople heads have tried arguing with you on this.....because you know hook grip doesn't make it any easier j/k good post!

  • Maybe this will clarify it for some:

with a hook grip: ~562 lbs. is the record

without a hook grip: ~334 lbs. is the record

google the following search terms: straighttothebar "frank_ciavattone_jr"

KingSerratus, your lift is very strong; if you can do the same without a hook grip it will be at or very near "world class" level. Keep up the good work!

  • Hook grip = when you tuck your thumb between the bar and fingers, quite often used in Olympic and Powerlifting to better grip the bar. It adds a huge advantage to grip. Your friend clearly tucks his thumb before wrapping his fingers around it and the bar. I'm not saying it's not a good lift, because it's still tough to do. But in the world of grip, it would be far more impressive without the hook.

  • @KingSerratus it was the way his hand was turned its called a hook grip

  • @KingSerratus LOL, urine idiot.

  • @KingSerratus

hooke grip is wrapping index and middle fingers over thumb its still using your hand just in a stronger grip way you probably were thinking the guys was saying he liftes with those hook type wraps but no its a way to deadlift more then matched grip without doing mixed grip also used for olympic lifts otherwise there not cleaning 500+ lbs the weight and momentum wold be damn near impossible to hold with reg matched grip

  • @ThE1NoNlYeasyWeight What's wrong with using a hook grip?

  • @ThE1NoNlYeasyWeight what's wrong with using a hook grip?

  • @firestrix10 nothing at all, I use it all the time. But hook grip is not equal to a strong grip. I can hook almost twice the weight I can double overhand on a barbell.

  • @ThE1NoNlYeasyWeight - are you blind? it's a 1 hand dead lift no straps no hooks, get it? just hand strength!

props man that's pretty awesome hand strength, you can probably close a #3 gripper

  • @evanescence2 The problem isnt his blindness, its you dont knowing what a hook grip is. And it is not one hand DL. He uses his second hand also. Watch closely. But anyway, this is indeed a feat considering his bodyweight.

  • @mufaPufaDha - dude it is plain and simply and 1 hand deadlift! do you see his other hand touching the bar as he lifts it? NO! He lifts the bar with 1 hand, 1 hand holding the bar!

So hook grip or not that is a deadlift using 1 hand plain and simple!

  • @evanescence2 Hook grip: "The hook grip is a pronated (palms facing the lifter) grip in which the thumb is trapped between the bar and usually the first and second fingers, depending on hand size. For the pull of both the snatch and the clean, this method of gripping is a necessity to maintain control of the barbell during the violent second pull and the powerful turnover of the snatch" - from Wikipedia. Do yourself a favor and educate yourself before spouting off your trollfag mouth.

  • @ThE1NoNlYeasyWeight - dude seriously you're a fucking loser for posting shit comments like that! what are you like 12? You tell me to educate myself yet you had to go on wikipedia to find the definition of a hook grip because you couldn't explain it to me in your own words.

when you accepted the challenge and did it, I was impressed by your feat of strength, I can't actually do that myself.

So thanks for being a fucking asshole dude, really that wasn't cool at all.

  • @evanescence2 Let's examine who the loser is here; myself, who responded to a your trolling-ass ignorant comments, or you who has so much of a life you trolled through two year old comments and started spouting off like an uneducated fucktard?

You clearly have already forgotten which two year old comment you originally trolled. Backtrack a little and you'll see my two year old comment explaining hook grip. I quoted another source in an effort to educate you, but that's clearly not possible.

  • @evanescence2 In the future, refrain from making douche bag comments, to people you know nothing about, asserting they know nothing, when in fact, they are quite familiar with the context of conversation. I'm far from the strongest guy on TrollTube, but I'm well versed in the world of grip (I have an IM cert and numerous Grip Board and Benders Battlefield entries to prove it) as well as being a competitive strongman who utilizes the hook grip on weekly basis.

  • @evanescence2 Furthermore, if you yourself are incapable of doing something yourself, the best course of action is to shut the fuck up and leave the technical talk to those that can.

  • @ThE1NoNlYeasyWeight - I can and will be able to 1 hand deadlift 315 pounds, through hard work and dedication, it's just a matter of time.

Quit being so rude, there was no technical talk at all in my posts

  • @ThE1NoNlYeasyWeight - let's see you do it tough guy

  • @evanescence2 challenge accepted and done. Check out my videos. That wasn't even a hard for me. I'll do 365+ for you next time when I'm fresh. The video I uploaded was at the end of a heavy leg day :) Enjoy.

  • @evanescence2 apparently that shut you up.

  • Allerious get your god damn facts straight. Alright it might be tough as a little twelve year old but you'll get it in a few years.

  • Very impressive.

  • Functional strength > Me

I might be able to do 225 one-handed if I had lifting straps

  • The secret is grip strength.

  • NO its a standard bar:45 LBS.

  • sweet, gotta try this, probably not 315 heh heh

standard olympic with 2" sleeves I presume

  • Incredibly impressive, although it looked like a short bar (thus <315)

  • thats impressive!
