GURU: Tsem Rinpoche and Baby Jane

I would love to sit around and watch 'Baby Jane' with Rinpoche! I have no doubts about his authenticity. None whatsoever.

I think his edgy-ness and modernity enables him to reach interest and help many people. He has a firm grasp of the complexities of the modern world and modern mind and can relate to us. He is able to speak to us clearly in terms we can understand, not in a cryptic or esoteric way that we cannot grasp or understand and so is not helpful to us. He may or may not be "perfect" according to your perception of what that means but he is an excellent dharma teacher and helped me and many others.

He's a hoot but I doubt high lamas with realizations would act like this. I think I could never respect or study with someone who acted like this on their own free time

I think its more problem with your perception than with the lama? Watch Rinpoche video when he go to Gaden or what the monk say about him (watch?v=CwG-agzwK24). All the high lama respects him and he sit next to them during puja. Are you saying they are all make a mistake? Sorry to say but maybe problem is your wrong view, not the lama.

How sad that you seem to miss his unique gift of relating to us in a modern way, I think he is so refeshing & inspiring. He has said himself that he has not attained buddhahood, but wants to.Yet he is extremely knowlegdeable & insightful & is an excellent Dharma teacher who can be of great help to us & he has helped me tremendously.He has attained far greater wisdom & knowledge than we have & shares that with us in hopes that it will benefit us. What is it you think a Rinpoche is supposed to do in their spare time? Sit around in a trance? Do you? We all appreciate art, acting is an art form, where is the harm in enjoying a great performance? I love Rincpoche's humor & campiness, I can relate to him. Does spirituality have to be a bunch of intensely serious, silent, sour faced, skinny old men wrapped in cloth spaced out in a trance all the time? I hope not! There should be joy & humor as well & maybe even most importantly. Namaste.

You guys are funny! Actually HE Tsem Tulku Rinpoche said he wanted to be an actor when he was young besides wanting to be a monk. It is because of Kyabje Zong Rinpoche that he chose to be a monk. Hence, we are very lucky and sometimes he does his acting thing...it reminds us how lucky we are because if he became an actor, the world would have one less great teacher. Controversial or not, his teachings is extremely relevant and beneficial.

tsem rinpoche has touched my life, shaken it and transformed it! i dont care about any controversies!! i mean where aren't there controversies? we have the karmapa controvery...controvery everywhere! but one thing i can definately say is that karmapa thaye dorje and tsem rinpoche have changed me... and they are buddha to me... they really are the best... tsem rinpoche says that due to our negative karmas we see bad in our gurus too. well..now am sure people will think twice before commenting :-)

It is very easy to say that Rinpoche has a lot of knowledge about Dharma! Rinpoche has been very kind to make us realize things by showing us movies or some practical work that we do in daily life. I am also looking forward to pay Tsem Rinpoche in one of these days in Malaysia, I have checked their website which is Kechara House where they actually provide accommodation for oversea students which is located just one floor above their center which is very nice! I will be going this coming Wesak Day!

Well, I am very sure that whatever Enlightened Beings do, it will have a benefit to many. That is why watching DVD will also a teaching! At the very least, Buddhas have to come down to the level of the understandings of the students in order to make them understand
