I used to have one....had to sell it in 00...been trying to see if it was rebuilt b/c it was totaled (but still drivable)...2 wheel drive. That bites. I sold mine for 3300 to a guy (I think in AL) I hope one day he will let me know if it still lives. lol

i have a 92 dakota and it is awesome... a few tweaks here and there and it would be perfect. also i can race any of my friends with newer cars or trucks and sure, they beat me off the line but once you hit 45 in one of these beasts it shifts hard and then the race is over

There was a true idiot that brought it in for trade in!! A 4x4 is worth in that condition as is about min. $4500, and cleaned up w/things working well, no major dents, etc, could fetch about 7gs and goes up from there, depending.

These trucks are extrodinary....my dad and I have rescued three of them one is now a show truck being primed for a 5.9l v8 (360) then the other one is a 4x4 5 speed 318 and THIS is where it gets awsome...my truck (the other two are my dads) but mine is a 96 so it has the computer in it of the 2000's its a 4x4 5 speed and its FACTORY colour is " Pearlecent olive metalic green) its truly a gorgeous truck...it even says on the sticker ont he door that that is the original colour

If you show high marks on this test, you are given a specific license that permits you to own a rare or classic vehicle. sure, classic car prices will sky rocket, but at least it will be far less likely for a great vehicle to see such a pointless fate.

Government is never getting their filthy paws on my Reg Cab '03 Dakota 4x4, with the same "fuel hungry" 3.9L V6. Although fuel injected, she still burns like its a small V8. And I wouldn't have her any other way. Great trucks indeed. You said it best.

I still can't figure out why people even like Obama. The only "change" he's been doing is change for the worst. C4C was a horrible program and I'm glad it's over. The part that really gets me is believe it or not. My grandpa god rest his soul is the reason those Dakota Convertibles even exist. He was a bigshot at chrysler and came up with the crazy idea of putting a convertible top on a dakota. He'd be disappointed if he ever saw this. It sure as hell makes me angry I tell you that.

as for the convertible I had to buy it with a scrap slip but received a builder's title from my home state just this week. this brings my dodge truck collection up to 7 , I have a 70' Dodge Dude ,a 78' Lil Red Express, a 79'Lil Red Express, two Shelby Dakotas one red and one white and two 89' Dakota sport convertibles one 2wheel drive and a 4x4

Gen 1 Dakotas are my favorite. I always wanted a Shelby and a convertible later I began to appreciate the Lil Red Dakotas , but not right away as the Original Lil Red Express eclipsed them in my youthful opinion. As a result of the recent "clunkers" program I've rescued 2 Shelby's ,one red sand one white, and this 4x4 convertible . I rescued the Shelby's in Arkansas and had no problem getting salvage titles on those trucks .

I've got a dakota like this and that's not nearlly in as good conditon. This one has been well taken care of. I love my truck and I love my dodges. If someone handed me the keys to a brand new ram cummins I wouldn't trade it for mine. It's a shame even though they only blue book for 1600 there worth alot more. I hope to have mine restored soon and it will be a great collectors item. R.I.P

It's gone, I actually went back to the place (I made a video of an E-Class Estate in that very lot) and asked them, the guy said "I don't know where they take them, but I don't think you can get parts, the engine has been destroyed so you can't use that"

I tried to buy it but the dealership wouldn't let me and they destroyed it. I wish I could help, but that's all the info I have. Hold onto yours!

well I just may have good news about this truck. I followed public records and found it at the salvage yard it was sold to (I won't mention their name ) you can guess why and purchased it as a salvage sale for 2000$ , I'm certain it is the same truck as all the details match from your videos. I want to thank you for this posting as it brought this truck to my attn. I have also rescued 2 Shelby's a red and white one now all I need is a Lil Red Dakota and I can eventually die happy.

Hey! You got it! I'm relieved to hear that. I feared the worst for the thing....I am guessing the engine is toast though, but a 3.9L Magnum shouldn't be too hard to find. I love all 1st and 2nd gen. Dakotas, and not just the convertibles either...the standard Dakota, the Lil Red Express Dakota and the Shelby Dakota are awesome trucks.

those engines are easy to find down here in california and rebuild them also. I just upgraded my V6 to 318 in 1990 2wd man its tight fit for front of pump to rad.

@LEBatte I thought I'd leave a update , At the time I bought this truck the transmission has started slipping just a little . the motor had escaped the drill as the salvage yards that received these cars rarely were subject to oversight . I bought it with a salvage bill and had the truck titled in Mississippi . I overhauled the transmission and buffed the paint and lined the bed . it has been sold to a fellow mopar fan in Florence Al.
