  • so glad i was born in the 80s why not show kids this stuff anymore to me it instills a sence of good verses evil

  • I will one day make this into a major film, have some amazing ideas, just need to money !!!

  • 80's was the golden age for kids cartoons.

  • TWAS epic!

  • JoJo's Bizarre Adventures author was inspired by this cartoon.

  • the thing with cartoons now is that to sell a cartoon you have to make money off it, i.e trading cards(pokemon), computergames (everything), adult cartoons(familt guy, american dad). but bk when this was out there was none of that, it sold and was liked because it was a good idea and a good cartoon like so many others from the 80s, im now showing my 3yr old son this, thunder cats, tranformers and all the other quality cartoons frm when i was a kid, show all your kids because they need to see them

  • @daledgend1981 Visionaries was created soley around a toyline like pretty much every cartoon during the 80's, the reason why it was cancelled after one season is because the toys were too expensive to make and not enough people bought them despite it being a good show. So even then profit trumps quality.

  • @daledgend1981 and transformers wasn't trying to sell you toys?

  • @Zolg08 Transformers were successful on the toyshelves. Visionaries weren't. Hence their cancellation from television.

  • Back when magic was on it's last steps and now we have nothing but shows that rely on technology. No more strength, no more cool facial hair, the 90's really was magical.

  • Awesome show. I loved watching this as a kid!

  • Those were the days, and cartoons, rather than today's cartoons, which is not worth anything

    80s R U L E S !!!

  • The Visionaires = Care Bears

  • best toon of my time, absalute loved it

  • All you need is some clips of kids playing with the figures and it's a commercial LOL

  • Damn I miss this cartoon.

Leoric the lion is my favorite character!

  • Great intro, and also a great cartoon to watch!

  • One of my fav cartoon series, when i was growing up...

2day's cartoon series, which my niece's and nephew's watch is embarrassingly dumb when compared to cartoon series of the late 80s and early 90s.

  • This show's got only 13 episodes but it was a great cartoon. What if this can be updated and be turned into a kick-ass role playing game.....or maybe a movie, it's just a matter of finding the right people who could do it.

  • The theme song to this song got stuck in my head all this week for NO reason. I couldn't remember what show it was from, what the words were...and I havent even seen this show before, but I remembered the tune!

  • Damn, nicely done!

  • Such a shame they discontinued the series, I LOVED the rhymes they said to transform/bring out the magical beasts.

  • anyone knows the lyrics to this??

  • this one was on my top 10!! thanks for the upload!

  • Meant to say the creators were obviously fans.

  • @smoceskreen

These shows from the 80's were so fresh! But of the recent cartoons not based on Marvel or DC characters, Ben 10 and Kim Possible are dope! Ben 10 has the vibe of the old shows and the characters clearly are fans of these same 80's shows. Kim Possible has Disney animation which is solid, but the writing is fantastic. So freakin funny. Give them a chance.

  • For more insight on this intro....Visionaries was created at the time when GI Joe and Transformers were the Most popular cartoons on TV and so the people behind Transformers were asked by Hasbro to come up with something different but similar to Transformers..They came up with Visionaries (notice similarities by how the people transform to animals vs robots transforming to vehicles/planes). The Visionary world came to be via Earth exper. an Electro-Magnetic shock and lost all electrical power.

  • ohhhhh maaaannn, I remember this intro! I had the toy of the guy who wore red and had a beard. that's all I remember about him.

  • oh man, i felt like i was in the show, i wanna summon the fox!!!!

  • best cartoon ever.

  • only 1 series ever made... about 8 episdoes a damn shame because the quality of the art work was tremendous, the acting wasnt bad either.

  • Acturally, there were 13 episodes. In the United Kingdom, the entire 13 episode series was released on DVD in 2004 in Region 2 format by Metrodome Distribution.

Unfortantly. So far, there has not been a Region 1 or Region 4 release.

  • did you notice some of the transformer voice actors were in it? like voice of starescream, arcee etc?

  • @jasbk Yeah this was one of the better ones

  • Those hologram standards look like something called battle beasts? Crazy song sounds like He-man

  • This was the one! My favorite. Great theme, too.

  • It is too bad that shows like Visionaries, Inhumanoids, and Darkstalkers were for one season only.

  • i think this video is awesome. one of da coolest, and thundercats` intro too.

  • It was the 80s kids that killed this show, all because of TMNT

  • Sheathe these feet in the driving gale, Make swift these legs over land I sail! Witterquick is Win.

  • wow! I forgot about this cartoon, i got up butt early on Saturdays to watch it!

  • Same, I would get up at 5am to watch the saturday cartoons, from GI Joe, to Thundercats, to He-man, and everything else in between. If anyone remembers Bionic 6 wicked cartoon. Hell everything from the early 80's and late 70's was sweet shit.

  • Bit melodramatic, but kinda kool..

  • luv the toys and cartoons! dam im 25 and this brings back good memoreis

  • Shit I'm 24 now where did time go. Im from England I watched this as a kid and had the action figures as well.

Apart from a few exception like spongebob and family guy, cartoons today are complete crap. Well, the kids tv stuff sucks balls big time now.

  • the toys were great real holograms :)

  • Yeh lol I remember the holograms I used to think they were so awesome haha.

    Best of times.

  • I was almost an adult when they came out and I still loved the shows. I got the complete set on DVD. The thing about todays cartoons is that they have to rely on vulgar humour to be watchable. I bet most kids these days couldn't grasp the Visionaries concept if it didn't have a ton of swearing. I know you like Family Guy but that to me is just more of the same thing that floods the cartoon channels. Nothing is creative anymore.

  • I appreciate everything you are saying. Definately. Thats todays generation for you tho.

    I miss the 80s/90s.

  • Just give it time. Another twenty years down the road and even todays cartoons will look pretty tame.

I concur. I too miss those days but that's the great thing about videos and such. We can always relive those days even though the things around us have changed. My friends ask me why I have a collection of Jem cartoons. It didn't seem to matter what gender they were intended for, it was always the concept that kept me fascinated.

  • Lol Gem shit i remember that. Yeh your right.

I was looking up lots of old stuff last night...nostalgia is great.

  • agree wit u Snapscape sir. todays cartoons lack 'character'. just crap. wut d hell is ben10 supposed t be? kim possible? the rest? man, i showed these 80's vids t my nephew n he likes em more than his ben10 crap now. wished i kept my m.a.s.k. figures....

  • i think the adult themes of 80s, early 90s, challenged that concept of just basic gags, crude humour, plot lines. The language, motives and character development was all ahead of the typical "kids cartoon". Such elements pulled me in.

  • @Snapscape I've got to say that you're totally right without a shadow of a doubt.

  • @Snapscape loved it too, was about 10 when it came out. prolly one of my top 3 fave cartoons. tried watching it recently though... sucked monkey balls :-(

oh well... worth watching just for the jizz-in-my-pants intro :-)

  • @ch00bee It hasn't aged well for some though I still appreciate it for what it is. A modernized version is what I'd like to see or even a live action film. There's a lot of creativity behind the concept and there's some content that even children might not have understood.

  • @Snapscape modernized version/live action film <- i'll 2nd that!

  • futuristic wizards of power! lol

    I love it

  • does any one remember citys of gold ?? that was ace !! ahhhh aaahhhh aaahh citys of gold !!!

  • I used to love the Visionaries back as a nipper. Very underrated cartoon!

  • Most original idea from Hasbro. Would make a better live action movie too so long as it's not directed by Bay and not written by Orci and Kurtzman. Otherwise you'd just have a full story about Cryotek trying to have sex with Galadria by trying to sell his totem on eBay.

  • lol this brought tears to my eyes

  • Comment removed

  • Had 5 figures as a kid and i was watching this madly!!! This magician was so scary.... not picking sides efing scary especially when u re 7

  • I loved this cartoon! "STRENGH OF A BEAR!" LOL

  • The design of the Visionaries and Centurions were pretty damn similar if you look closely. Someone argued that these cartoons were produced just to sell action figures, which is pretty plausible, it's a time when that kind of toy was really taking off.

Whatever the case; the 80's was definitely the best time for kid's animation. Inspired by films like Star Wars and the booming anime/live-action heroes shows of the time

  • Awesome animation, especialy compared to some of the other cartoons from then (cough cough Transformers)

  • Visionaries was made by the same ppl that made Transformers and G.I. Joe

  • This cartoon was so under rated and should have been so much bigger than it was.

  • actually, the show was created based off a toyline by Hasbro. I assume it was made with the purpose of publicizing the toys. which is really a pity, because they had a nice alignment of characters and a very good storyline.

  • Where's all the episode at?

  • I used to absolutely love this cartoon, along with Thundercats! Thanks for the memories!

  • Omg! i loved this so much :D

  • What's the line in the intro that comes after 'Powers of mind and strength, skill and speed'? I've never been able to quite make it out.

  • It's: "Powers to accomplish the greatest of deeds"

  • Anyone know of a website that has some of the episodes to watch online?

  • I picked up a DVD from my local pound shop with 2 episodes of this series on. I've now bought the whole series off Ebay so I can watch the rest of it!

  • Summoning spells Darkling Lords 2:

Destruction - "By nature's hand, by craft, by art, What once was one now fly apart!"

Destruction Reversal - "What was asunder and undone, Now be whole, the two make one!"

Fear - "Oh mist-filled pits, dark, dank, unclear, Touch all before me with frost-fingered fear!"

Invulnerability - "The arrows turn, the swords rebel, Let nothing pierce this mortal shell!"

Disease - "Wind of sickness, illness most vile, Strike down my enemy, with disease revile!"

  • @lanskydgreat Dude... I love you for posting this. You rock.

  • Summoning spells Darkling Lords 1:

Decay - "By what creeps, what crawls, by what does not, Let all that grows recede and rot!"

Decay Reversal - "Power of rot, obscuring truth, What once was old restore to youth!"

Magic Extractor - "Flay the flesh, lay bare the bone. Upon this field, let grief be sown!"

Flight - "Wings of steel shall ride the breeze. Invade the air, the land, the seas!"

  • @lanskydgreat perfect

  • Summoning spells Spectral Knights 2:

Strength - "Three suns aligned pour forth their light and fill the archer's bow with might!"

Light Speed - "Sheathe these feet in the driving gale, Make swift these legs o'er land I sail!"

Knowledge - "A whim, a thought, and more is sought. Awake my mind; thy will be wrought!"

Healing - "By warmth of heart, your pain I feel. Grant me the power, your wounds to heal!"

  • The summoning spells Spectral Knights 1:

Wisdom - "Whispered secrets of a shattered age, I summon you; renew this sage!"

Protection - "Shield this craft from one and all.Reflect, deflect, depose and fall!"

Fire - "Draw upon the breath of stars, And scorch the sky with fiery scars!"

  • fucking genius dude, ima recite the strength when I weight lift for sure

  • this is a classic cartoon!!! hands down one of the best if not the best cartoon out in the 80s!!! Still cant find anything on guy king yet

  • i loved this about 20 year ago! can always remember thinkin one of the baddies got ripped off wen of all the things he could turn into merlin made him a beetle ha ha

  • This is the best cartoon in the 80s! I just love the encantation of Cindarr (The Power of Destruction): "By nature's hand, by craft, by art, What once was one now fly apart!"

  • This was such a cool concept and should definitley be brought back. I'm trying to remeber all the spells now

  • I was a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan! Never had an action figure though...

The holograms on action figures always were seen at their best with sunlight, I remember that!

I also loved when they invoked their "hologram banner" with their specific magic incantation!

I think they could also dip their banners in some kind of magical water to replenish them...

Anyhoo, Visionaries = 80s childhood MAGIC!

  • This was the BEST 80's cartoon show. It helped that there was no Snarf/Orco type trying to be funny every five minutes.

  • i love the 80s cartoons could bring them bk

  • can u buy visionaries on DVD or download? how do i upload this to facebook? i'm computer illiterate, lol.I MUST HAVE IT NOW!!!!!!!, lol

  • Oh my god. This was my absolute favourite cartoon when I was younger. Classic.

  • i love this cartoon...

  • I don't remember much of this show but I do remember having an action figure

  • By what creeps what crawls and what does not, let all that grows recede and rot!

  • Geesh a avid fan, but try, by natures hand, by craft and art what once was one now fly apart. Great memory of the visionaries totom saying.

  • i am buying the complete series in a few hours :)

  • yep.. this cartoon's great.. very much liked it back then.. anyone here care to help me where to find and watch this cartoon 'Online'? somehow, I quite miss this show..

  • Visionaries was the best cartoon of the 80s IMO.

It combined all the elements of great cartoons back then. Violence, brilliant animation, compelling story lines and awesome vehicles/technology. All that was lost in the PC fascist 90s, where anything other than a farting blue cat was out of the question. It's even worse now with the shitty Anime rip off garbage, like teen titans, and Anime Transformers.

Visionaries would make a sweet movie.

  • Don't forget the action figures. Cartoons back then were all about how kick ass their action figures will be

  • Agreed! I think Captain planet may have been the beginning of the end.

  • I still think this show has potential. Either as a feature film or a modern cartoon or comic book. I loved the visionaries far more than transformers.

  • By nature's hand, by crafts, by art. What once was one, now fly apart!

  • I have issue #1 of the comic in good condition. I had all of the toys but not anymore, I won't type what happened to them. The cartoon was great, I still have a few episodes on VHS tape.

  • They should make a movie of this so it looks like 300...I still got the comic of this.

  • i remmember this. the toy figures had hologram faces that turned into animals as you moved it. the 1 i had was a jaguar or something

  • I haven't seen this for about 20 years then suddenly the theme tune popped into my head from nothing WEIRD!

  • i remember visionaries---hardly tho...man these cartoons look better than the ones today..

the spectacular spiderman looks like a bugs bunny cartoon compared to something like the animation work of the visionaries cartoon....

  • This cartoon was so dope!!! *87 or 88 or maybe 89...I do not remember for sure...Christmas of one of these years..I got all of the toys. Man that show was the illest...

  • With driving force and blinding gale, make swift these legs over land I sail!!!....Witterquick

  • Actually etriganz, it's:

"Sheathe these feet in the driving gale, make swift these legs, o'er land I sail!" - Witterquick

  • Visionaries/Knights of the Magical Light

    Visionaries/With Magical Powers they fight

    Powers of Life and Strength

    Skill and Speed

Powers to accomplish the Greatest of Feats

    Visionaries/Knights of the Magical Light

The rhymes aren't perfect, but the song's still an amazing bit of orchestration and lyrics. Thanks again for posting it!

  • By what creeps, what crawls, by what does not, let all that grow recede and rot!

Power of rot obscure in truth, what once was old, restore to youth! Very badass chant.

  • I have these on R2 DVD from the U.K. I live in Canada and they work because I reprogrammed the software in my DVD player to be region free!

  • Thank you so much! ^^

    Greetz

    KM

  • Era buena, pero en comparacion con las vulgaridades de hoy en dia, era genial!!!

  • what a cartoon! got it on DVD

  • This show has aged very well animation wise. Especially the intro which still looks fluent.

And is it me or did they just use all the voice actors from Transformers?

  • The cartoon came from the same animation studio that did Transformers and G.I.Joe, if it comes to that. Check out wikipedia for the specific matchups. Voice acting in the U.S.A. is a much, much smaller business than in, say, Japan, where animation is treated with the respect it deserves as an art form every bit as valid as sculpture and literature.

  • I Totally agree with you

  • This serie: Kiss Ass..

  • "By nature's hand, by craft, by art; what once was one now fly apart!"

    One of my favs

  • The arrows turn, the swords rebel. May nothing pierce this mortal shell. I think I can remember most of these (sad huh?) Just ask if you want one.

  • Not sad at all...what's sad is I loved this show but hardly remember anything about other than they turned into animals. If I remembered what you did I would be proud...Visionaries rocks!!!

  • Verdammt noch mal - ich hatte die visionaries fast im sumpf meiner kindheitserinnerungen verloren. da sind sie wieder. great and thanx!

  • they should make this into a movie. =)

  • Ini rupenye kartun adamrohsam cari2...

  • this was so damn phat,....why can't all animation look like this?

  • "Three suns align, pour forth their light and fill the archers bow with might!"

  • i rememeber about 90% of the chants

  • I still remember Witterquick's chant:

"Sheathe these feet in the driving gale, make swift these legs over land I sail!"

I tried saying that during gym class hoping it'd make me run faster.

    It didn't.

    Damn

  • I used to know the each of the character's chants to use those cool-looking totems in battle.

  • Oh my goodness goodness goodness me

Thankyou YouTube, and whoever posted all the videos I just watched! Haha

  • this cartoon was the shit

  • Word...

  • this cartoon was the shit

  • a great cartoon i used to have the figures as a boy it was popular but not as popular as transformers or thundercats used to be on a saturdays after dungeons and dragons was when they used to play the differnt cartoon sieres

  • Holy nuts... I finally found an 80's cartoon I have never seen! I didn't think it was possible... What was this one about? Was it as popular as Transformers/He-Man/Voltron?

  • I dont blame you though as the show doesnt last more than 13 episodes (i think). It was a great cartoon and I had their toy with a hologram on it. I got the lion guy but sadly it was thrown away. :(

  • I don't know if someone has already answered you. but I want to answer your question.

"Visionaries" is set on Prysmos, a planet with three suns. One day, these suns aligne themself and they cause a planetary disaster.

Some of the survivors are given magical powers; the good one, the Spectral Knights, have the powers of the more noble animals (dolphin, lion, hawk, etc.); the others, the Darkling Lords, can turn in the most vile ones, mollusk, beetles, etc.

    Guido.

  • I loved this intro.

  • i used to love this cartoon. got it on dvd thjough. im 24 but it takes me back to my childhood years

  • where did you get the dvd?

  • I got it in HMV, so they could probably order it in if you asked for it.

  • Havent seen this in years, I think I still have the VHS collection somewhere...

  • i wish i still had my old toys :(

  • Concordo plenamente era um desenho legal.

  • Que legal esse desenho.

  • i love the intro song

  • One of the good guys powers was Intellegence. His saying went,

"A whim, a thought, and more is sought. Awake, my mind, thy will be wrought!"

  • best thing in the universe, ever.

  • True that, I remember I had the lion guy and eagle (or something) guy. I used to watch the cartoon religiously. I still remember the episode where everyone had to run thru an obstical course and each one that did, would receive their respective powers. Good times.

  • Still have that episode on VHS

  • Yo you have to transfir it to digital and send it to me in a file. It is hard to find good old skool cartoons.

    Thanks in advanced

    Slith

  • I still have my Darkstorm Figure.=D

  • WOW! What's the condition? You still have his staff?

  • He's in pretty good condition and has his weapons. :)

  • Its been about 20 years sinc ei watched this cartoon, but i remember one of the baddies sayings to summon his power "Oh mist filled pits dark dank unclear, touch all before me with frost fingered fear!"

Sad I know but I loved this damn show as a kid :)

  • I love this cartoon.I really miss it alot! it was short lived though :(

  • I love how in our 80's cartoons there was always a macho character with a mustache that kinda resembled Tom Selleck.

  • thats true, and yet that was always the character nobody like pretending to be lol

  • one of my favourite cartoons/action figures!

  • gold stuff =) this belongs with Conan the adventurer, Highlander animated series and my childhood ^^
