The Victoria & new Queen Elizebeth are "Vista" class cruisers. It's sad to say, that without Carnival, Cunard would probably have folded by now. Carnival is kind of like a General Motors...Carnival/Chevrolet, Holland America/Buick, Princess/Pontiac, Cunard/Cadillac. More luxurious, but still sharing many things with the other divisions. I've heard complaints about the Princess management team, but being in the "Grills" as of late, I have no complaints. It's really been quite luxurious.
The sheer witlessness of this ship is only surpassed by its breathtaking, meretricious gall in defrauding the holy name of Queen Victoria and her Age. It's a Holiday Inn with a hull, plus a jacked slice of Las Vegas bolted on to satiate the refined tastes of its braying, glaze-eyed clientele. A grotesque, savage, banal and, ultimately, cynical attempt at emulating civilised transport. If you like Ryan Seacrest, Starbucks, and the Cadillac Escalade, you'll love the RMS 'Victoria'.
What is so sad is when one looks beyond the English accented hype. Cunard does not run or manage itself, build nor design its own ships. Cunard is managed and directed by P&O/Princess Cruises. Exchanges crew, staff, reservations and land operational staff. Therese Anderson, Lead Designer for P&O/Princess designed the QV and QE. Using the same elements used in Princess ships..many people have said the QV looks "very Princess". A position can be made then Princess Cruises is the ocean liner brand!
Actually Cunard is owned by Carnival Plc! Anybody will tell you that.. Though I do think it is sad that Cunard is not its own line anymore, it is sad, 200 years of maritime reliability and grandeur, usurped by that Carnival Plc which manufactures ships by the thousands instead of like Cunard which takes quality first instead of quantity like its aggressive owner!
I am aware of the brands that Carnival owns. In Cunard's case, while owned by Carnival cruise Lines, its ships are designed by P&O/Princess Lead Designer Therese Anderson. Cunard employs no designers of its own. And since the less than spectacular debut of QM2 under Cunard's sole stewardship Carnival Cruise Lines appointed Princess cruises to run and manage the operations of Cunard. Cunard is simply a brand that runs ships designed and managed by its own competition.
Hmm, then it seems P&O and Carnival have reached some partnerships then. But like I said in my comment below, it is sad that 200 years of maritime prowess have given in to both of them! Not Carnival nor P&O have as distinctly renown a reputation as Cunard!
I have never seen so many shades on brown before in one place! The ship isn't bad, but done predictably. Much was taken from the QM2 Princess, Costa and Holland America. I was shocked to see the extra tarif Todd English Restaurant shares the same chairs as the Lido Buffet, that demonstrates a lack of commitment to the brand. Same lobby artwork as QM2 which is baffling. That would eb a great opportunity to give the Vicky her own feel. The Vicky is a Carnival ship, and it shows.
I'll give ya shades of brown in one place... just let me bend over... BoooYAH!! Captain Turkey Lips has your number baby! Now get ought my way, punk... I'm going up to the Lido deck to sit my arse on some of those chairs and to look at some of that baffling art work!
