  • when this song comes up, its the greatest high moment

  • I'm not into anime, and my friend got me to get on his stream and he showed me the first season. It's so weird, and I love it.

  • FLCL had to end so that we may continue with its message.

  • Consider the amount of genius required to write 6 eps of FLCL. Now imagine the amount of genius 24, let alone 50 episodes of the same quality would take.

I do, however, hope for a sequel in a few years, much like Diebuster was to Gunbuster (Gunbuster = Top wo Nerae; Diebuster = Top wo Nerae 2). Watch it!

Top wo Nerae and FLCL were both made by GAINAX, as was Neon Genesis Evangelion. So here's me hoping that after the Rebuild of Evangelion project they might take up another FLCL-related one.

  • This anime is perfect itself with 6 episodes. Don't complain about it's uniqueness.

  • @jakekungsful just like "Bastard!!" had 6 episodes. all the animes from the 90s-early millenium kicked so much ass

  • ultimate soundtrack

  • Fooly Cooly what does it mean

  • @MrShockwave10 Lol it means to fondle a woman's breasts.

  • Two people missed the like button.

  • @MithosCordelan you mean they don't know how to swing a bat

  • I always get unbearably sad at the scene where Naota hugs Haruko in the last episode.

    D:

  • MY MOM 118:829

  • JUST THE WAY AT 2:40

  • HE SAYS PENIS AT 1:50

  • a lot of weed was consumed to make the manga/anime and the result was a master piece...LEGALIZE WEED!!

  • @gears6515 Fuckin' A.

    :)

    norml .0rg

  • es brutal esta cancion! me encanta!

  • WHY THE FUCK IS IT SO SHORT!!!!! there are so many shit anime out there that get 24 eps, this deserves at least 50! >:(

  • @sceeterp Because FLCL originally is just a 2 volume manga.

  • @xheartlessx3 i'm still not happy about it ¬.¬

  • @xheartlessx3 Actually, the manga of FLCL was made AFTER the anime

  • @ItachiUchiha999999 lol and in that one haruko is (more) evil than she already is basically trying to destroy the earth

  • @sceeterp its about quality, not quantity of episodes

  • @sceeterp

dude you forgot that the anime is only half an hour and each episode feels like its 2 hours

let alone if you watch all 6 in a row feel like a month

  • @sceeterp It's actually a great move on their part. It ends in a way to leave you wanting more, or to go back and catch things you didn't catch before in previous eps. The ones today that go season after season get too stale and rehash a lot of the same old tricks done countless times before. It also leaves things open for a possible OVA later on, which would be amazing.

  • @Superumouyun dude if i saw an ova released i would spunk in my pants

  • When you watch FLCL, you will not know what the hell you are watching. You will not know what is going on. You will only know one thing: somehow or another, it's freaking AWESOME. And that is all you will ever need to know.

  • "when the kid goes into the future, when the kid meets the masters"

  • I think I broke the replay button.

  • This is great OST, and series were wicked too :D

  • This song makes me wanna run outside walk down the street and sing it then people crowd behind me and sing it to P.S EPIC ANIME ;3

  • This entire anime is one giant "What The Eff?!" And yet it's so brilliantly awesome.

  • Anything can be "deep" if you're on enough drugs. FLCL is hella' fun! Sometimes fun for the sake of being fun can reach the level of art too.

  • Ahh...the memories

  • This doesnt discount the fact that its a cool and refreshing anime ;)

  • People thinking FLCL is deep. What FLCL is is Gainax taking a forced break in the wake of Neon Genesis Evangelion so that they could cheer up, and the way they did that was they took all of their best story tellers and forced them to take a huge amount of serious fucking drugs.

  • @Clarinerd617 No, FLCL is Jet Set Radio/The World Ends With You on a biblical amount of dru- yeah, pretty much what you said.

  • /thread

  • @420straightedge Research it a little.

  • always brightens my mood when i hear this

  • the intro is in english?

  • FLCL is the absolute deepest anime I've ever seen.

  • @Rezindez And it does it without absurd levels of wangst like in Evangelion! Plus, it's... well, Furi Kuri.

  • @Haruverse I am indestructible! I'm the only person in the world who loves FLCL, Gurren Lagann, and Evangelion at the same time!

  • @Rezindez but...but...i love them too.....no fair.

  • @darkest1hourxx Alright. Besides me, you are a special exception.

  • @Rezindez It's not that deep. Hope this helps!!!

  • @JisakuJ Okay, maybe the second, as I recently learned Evangelion was slightly more deep than I thought it was, giving it a bit of an edge. But Fooly Cooly is seriously VERY deep, full of symbolism and allegory. Research it a bit on your own. And keep in mind, I said "deepest I've EVER SEEN" not "deepest ever".

  • @Rezindez No, it's really not. Sorry dude.

  • @JisakuJ Yes, it is. I wrote a paper on it. I can even point out specific examples.

Amarao's eyebrows represent false maturity. Atomsk represents adulthood. The water gun represents a tame, immature vision of sexuality compared to the harsh, adult truth represented by the big, dangerous gun in the same scene. I didn't make these up, and there's a heck of a lot more. I reiterate, you should research on your own. FLCL is an allegory, by the way, so there's more than what you see at face value.

  • @Rezindez That's not deep. The ending to MGS2 is deep.

  • @JisakuJ No, that ending is COMPLEX and INTRICATE. I can't blame you for making that mistake, though. It took me a while to figure out the definition for myself. I used to make such ridiculous claims as to say that Clannad or Gurren Lagann were deep. Depth, as I've come to learn from experience and from several sources, does not mean the same thing as "well-written" or "complicated" or even "touching". It seems that when works of fiction are deep, they have loads of "meaning" or "philosophy".

  • @Rezindez Wow, you're out of touch with reality. Come back once you've actually completed your basic education, kid. You're, like, 14? Depressing.

  • @JisakuJ Try googling it and see what comes up.

  • @Rezindez

Actually, his eyebrows were just really thick, and his character was based on South Park. This is because he is a foreigner.

Atomsk represented the wonders(and evils) that technology brings us, and how it can change us and the way others perceive us.

The water gun vs big gun was just comedic value, you're looking too hard I'm afraid.

Now, if you really want something deep, go and watch Panty and Stocking, or KareKano:His and Her Circumstances.

  • @dannyrox I'm totally sure about the eyebrows thing. I figured that solitary fact out myself, seeing as how it's pretty obvious given all the hints, and I found confirmation all over the internet. Other than the eyebrows, however, all these other facts are from a website devoted to figuring out FLCL's symbolism. The explanation involving the guns and Atomsk made absolutely perfect sense. And I mean, the pieces to this interpretation fit together so well it's almost impossible it wasn't intended.

  • @Rezindez

Once again, I feel you are really reading too much into it.

It's just a no-nonsense show about the horrors of technology and how strange women are.

I feel like you're one of those people who make up things about Pokemon, like the whole "Ash is in a coma" thing. Silly nonsense, and taking this too literally.

  • @dannyrox No, really! FLCL is a genuinely deep allegory! You can't say it isn't until you've researched it as much as I have! Go on! See for yourself! Google's right there!

  • @Rezindez I like how you provide no evidence and just say "lol google it for yourselves duders"

You say this show is deep. The burden of proof lies in your hands. Get to it, boyo.

  • @JisakuJ Fine. FLCL is a coming of age story, along with being an allegory about the pleasures of sex compared with the pleasures of masturbation. I'd tell you the reasons, but then I'd get shouted at again for being over-analytical. And besides, it's really hard to condense this guy's thousand word explanation into five hundred characters. So, in the interests of both being fair and not being a pretensious clod, I'm going to give you the link.

    wwwDOTflclwDOTcom/forum/viewtopicDOTphp?t=1639

  • @JisakuJ And I'm not saying that this interpretation is correct. There are many other theories regarding many other topics. The point is that nobody denies that FLCL is filled with symbolism, although what it is symbolism for is debated pretty fiercely. I am certainly not the person who came up with the notion that FLCL was extraordinarily deep. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere on the internet that said FLCL WASN'T deep, hence my insistence that you should google it and find out.

  • @Rezindez dude if you think FLCL is deep you should check out Ima, Soko ni Iru Boku(Now and Then , Here and There) or Shadow Star Narutaru now those are really deep animes. :)

  • @xXderrickXx169 I've seen the first one already, and it's one of my favorite anime. Never heard about Shadow Star, though.

  • @Rezindez Shadow Star Narataru is deep man, It also has one of the most misleading op in an anime to date, the magna is way better though.

  • @xXderrickXx169 I'll add it to my list on MAL in both manga and anime form.

Why MyAnimeList is not as popular as Facebook is one of the greatest mysteries of the universe.

  • @Rezindez So true it should be way more popular. MAL is how i organize all of the anime i watch.
