  • thank you for the answer, really like your thoughts...

  • like the way you think, look forward to yr Manifesto.

  • Yes, thank you. Great work, elegantly put.

  • thank you so much for this - badly needed for to share with sceptical and otherwise visionless people from the west , even friends. You all have achieved so much so much so much - and that cannot be said often enough. Anyone doubting should go and help to make the visions come true then. Certainly west solution not the best possible in human history yet ... so what opportunity !! i so hope that intellectual gap will be filled with ppl like you

  • better lighting needed

  • Reminder: it is called "The Arab Spring" as a paraphrase on the European 1848 "Spring of Nations".

1848 produced NO free countries. All revolutions "failed". It took 150 years for all of Europe to become free, but it wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for 1848. That is how we know it was a success.

    Lesson: revolutions take time.

  • @arad7613 All the arab coups sponsored by western imperialists were titled 'revolutions'. Some started 100-150 years ago.

Kings, followed by coups, followed by the arab spring.

  • I like the cat meowing at the end...The rest is cool too.

  • Very thoughtful. Best of luck with the project. I hope I'll be able to meet you when I visit the region in the spring for research.

  • to add to that, once my shiekh said something that was so libertarian, yet I don't know if he ever heard of libertarianism. in Islamic Jurisprudence (according to him). personal Sins to God are not crimes to be punished by man, if they have no victim. I found that profound.

  • Good luck inshAllah! I think in my experience there's a lot of almost clear connection between the tradition of liberty and our faith: 1- the concept of property and it's protection exists in the Quran. 2- the concept of live & let live "no compulsion in religion." etc.. 3- there's no concept of a particular governmental structure in the faith that I know of that was in the time of the final prophet. 4- God spoke that He created vicegerents on this earth, then He spoke of Adam and Eve. & so on

  • Interesting analysis; agreed. There's a saying "revolutions always fail" because they never deliver the utopian expectations of the euphoric moments after the overthrow of the old regime; but that is to deny that the flawed system of democracy is enormously better than a murderous tyrant.

Corruption, nepotism & murder will still be there but the days of turning tanks & snipers against civilians are hopefully over in Libya, Egypt & Tunisia.

  • @bimblinghill There is corruption in every single country. Severe curtailment of corruption and applying equity is necessary to allow people to prosper.

  • @BasharAssad Yep.
