I have this whole episode of the Johny Cash Show - Johny is showing this little recording before Joses actual act at the show - he explains there that the guys were playing just for fun during the preparation for the show and the stuff watching them decided it has to be recorded so they switched on the cameras. What you see is only 3 friend playing together in their free time before a show :) amazing isn't it?

:) they are feeling the music, especially Jose, its the way how to express them self. Forget all the computerized music you a hearing now everywhere - they only sit down with nothing more than their guitars and they don't need anything more. Take a look at Joses - Since I Fell For You (only guitar and voice) or Malagueña (only guitar).

Carl is playing a "Microfrets" made in Frederick between 1971-75 when the plant closed, death of owner. This guitar is easy to spot due to the "turned up" end on the head which I called a knuckle buster when putting on strings or tuning. I had one for awhile, lived in that area.

Merle's acoustic is a Martin D-28 on which he had Paul Bigsby switch out the neck back in the 1940s. The electric is his Gibson Super 400, a guitar with outstanding tone. Each of those guitars is featured on an album from the late 50s or so; don't know if either is still available. For the acoustic, check out "Walkin' the Strings." For the electric, find "The Merle Travis Guitar." You won't be sorry.
