It doesn't matter if they are being committed by first timers or repeat offenders. More murders is ALWAYS worse than LESS murders. The only people with a right to even THINK about revenge are the people affected. If they don't want the death penalty for that person the state has no right to say "Well, that murder affected us more than you, so your wishes mean nothing" Execution does not work. @Grifinmod I think the time they spend on death row probably costs the taxpayer more. I mean, a lot of murderers survive longer on death row than in gen-pop. Also, there's a long, drawn out appeal process, and the expense of the execution itself. I wouldn't be surprised if the relatives who attend are put in a nice hotel at the tax-payers expense. I'm sure they could save a lot of money by firing the unnecessary administrators and fat-cats who work for the prisons

To say that a country have abolished death penalty for all offences is to have NO death penalty. It doesn't matter if they are being committed by first timers or repeat offenders. More murders is ALWAYS worse than LESS murders. @soccermastas That's not justice; it's REVENGE. The state do not have the right to take revenge on behalf of families. The only people with a right to even THINK about revenge are the people affected. Like I said, everywhere the death penalty is introduced, murder rates go UP, so it may stop THAT person doing it again, but more other people are doing it.

@Grifinmod It's not a plan for vigilante justice. I just said the only people with a right to take a murderers life are the family of the victim. If they don't want the death penalty for that person the state has no right to say "Well, that murder affected us more than you, so your wishes mean nothing" Execution does not work. That is a plain, simple fact that people love to ignore. Introduce the death penalty and watch MORE innocent people get murdered. Seems some people WANT that.

I do feel though that FOR ME..I'll speak for myself on this, I...don't want MY tax money that's already outrageous, to go up to keep up murders in prison. I also don't feel, that if the murder affected my family that we should be forced to pay his free room and board and dr.visits and such. To me..that's a bigger slap in the face. We would be paying his welfare check to a point.

@Grifinmod I think the time they spend on death row probably costs the taxpayer more. I mean, a lot of murderers survive longer on death row than in gen-pop. Also, there's a long, drawn out appeal process, and the expense of the execution itself. I wouldn't be surprised if the relatives who attend are put in a nice hotel at the tax-payers expense. I'm sure they could save a lot of money by firing the unnecessary administrators and fat-cats who work for the prisons

To say that a country have abolished death penalty for all offences is to have NO death penalty. There are in fact several countries in Europe who have it for "special circumstances", like for example war time. In cases like for example seen in the US with Bradly Manning. Also, Russia is an example of a country with full death penalty, but have not used it in quite a long time.
