@gospelkeys07 wondeful to receive a explanation from a musician - thank you. I have a wonderful personal memory of Clark Terry. During the annual Nice Festival, Terry was waiting for the car to take him back to his hotel after his gig. As the car was late, I gave him a lift to the hotel. Was I in paradise???? Sad note : my car was stolen from the front of my house! Question: was it a Clark Terry deciple who wanted the car Clark Terry sat in?
He also had a very light and efficient embouchure, playing with very low pressure and lots of air, he tended to use small mouthpieces as well, so his sound was never really "orchestral" and dark...more like warm and fluffy, with lots of high overtones
Melba was not the lead trombone player.....not that she couldn't be, but I'm sure that Ake was in the 1st chair.......no difficult bone parts on this chart anyway!
I hear Moanin i vivo. in Sixties Quincy was new kIng for us jazzmen. and Moanin was hymn for Jazz. Great tune and trombone saction was Ake Persson Jimmy Cleveland Melba Liston and great Quentin Butter Jackson
Great tune written by Tom Thumb aka Bobby Timmons. The greasy minor blues, great brass playing by the band.Excellent arrangement. What is their too say about one of music giants Mr Clark Terry .

Maybe a trumpeter could explain how Clark Terry got that unique sound from his instrument?

@penutbito The drummer is Joe Harris, and that's pretty close to Jesus as far as drumming is concerned :)
