I thought a linear equation was something like 2y=12x+2

then divide 12x+2 by 2y. then it would be y=6x+1.

UGH! Maybe I'm wrong:(

why didn't you just balance the equation with fractions in by multiplying x by 2 and x by 4 to get 2x and 4x...you made it harder than it is!! it balances it out quicker. Remember not to treat division questions as fractions.

How do you do harder ones like -15+10x - (1-x) = 4x-12 I have no idea what to do with that -(1-x)...

@Khaltazar -15+10x - (1-x) = 4x-12 in front of that - sign before the parentheses is an invisible -1 that u must distribute to (1-x) which will makes it -1+x now we'll have -15+10x -1 +x = 4x-12 now change the sign of all the numbers that come after the equal sign and set it to 0. so it becomes -15+10x -1 +x - 4x + 12 =0 now add up all the like terms 10x+x-4x & -15 + -1 + 12 7x - 4 = 0 Isolate that -4 to the other side, then it becomes 7x =4 divide both sides by 7 & u r left with x = 4 over 7
