Interesting, such a though-provoking pictorial: used t'be, I didn't believe the story of evolution, . . . I always took it to be a mere fable because—failing the "F test" and the "T test"—evolution is statistically impossible—wow, . . . I once was blind, but now I see, . . . how could I have missed a truth so obvious? It's so real, . . . almost real—what a far-sighted and intellectual painter—rully hot! Yeah, I'm lovin' it—ain't choo?
no problem. i saw some of your timelapse stuff. nice! a little trick i havnt got around to trying is to shoot with a digital still camera every few seconds, and then take it into an editing package and pan across the timelapse. if your camera is high res enough you can zoom as well. would be better than spending a shit load of money on a servo controlled rig. give it a go.
I've also been experimenting with stereo (anaglyph 3D) video. e.g. I left a plant without watering it for a few days. I then watered it and took 2 shots for each frame from 2 slightly separated viewpoints as the plant rehydrated over about an hour. I moved the camera up few mm at a time on the tripod (fixed flash position). A nice idea, but it didn't turn out that great, so I didn't bother putting the 3d together in the end.
I've also tried grass seeds sprouting, the night sky (in 2D), etc
The timelapse is like nothing ive seen before. full six axis degrees motion control cameras. the only problem is you have to watch at least 4 hours of shite about plants lol
Question: Isn't it illegal to do graffiti on public property? How did the person/people get away with this? You would think something that large would be catchable.
Yes, it is illegal, but works of art are usually tolerated and left alone. In the centre of Madrid there are many artists who do some really original stuff, like painting realistic, detailed shadows coming from traffic bollards that look like people's shadows when you look closely.
Then there are stupid little vandals who just scribble their name at every opportunity. These are usually erased quite quickly, thankfully.
I don't know if this one is still there. I imagine it is, though!
Thumbs up for the idea and the neat execution. What I really don't understand is: How could people hit DISLIKE? Seriously, this is amazing! :(

Either this isn't in London, or he made another one virtually identical here in Italy, because I see it every morning from my train! =D
ScarletFlamia 3 years ago
sweet, I always wanted to see this one, good reason to visit Italy by the way;] would you mind giving exact location?
litvamadafaka 2 years ago
Prato, in Tuscany, about half an hour of train from Florence. You can see it right out of the station, it's under a flyover ;)
ScarletFlamia 2 years ago
Hi Scarlet,
I'm sure you are right . It probably isn't in London!
Is it on Google Maps street view?
Nilguiri 2 years ago
I'm afraid not, but I'll give it a try and let you know ;)

That's exactly how I did them! I've got a program to control the camera from the PC.
I don't have a laptop and the cable is only a few metres long. That's why all the vids are looking out of my window!
You can set it to take a picture every few seconds/minutes/hours, etc.
But, although the zoom is also controlled by the prog, you can't program it to do a controlled slow zoom. You have to do it by "eye".
Nilguiri 4 years ago
Well, that's how I did it, apart from the Ken Burns-type panning bit of course, in the videos I've put on Youtube at least.
I have tried it but nothing worth showing here yet!

(ditto for the zooming, of course)

Cool, I will! I've also always been a big fan of Oxford Scientific Films.

ha ha ha!!
That sounds interesting!
no problem... I actually like plants! (well, to a certain extent, anyway)
If I have time, I might take you up on making those timelapse clips...
I'll let you know.

I'm not sure, I didn't take the original photos. It's probably in Spain, more than likely Madrid.
I'll try and find out.
