anyway i love what your doing here i support you 100%, i know people who've had their past mess with them a ton, it's wrong

and proposing bills to make criminal background checks illegal to be used in hiring someone. it's discrimination. there are counties that banned the checkbox for felon or not, and those have a much higher rate of employment and not any higher of work related crime. maybe the unemployment rate is so high because of all the people in prison...

also their are laws against discriminating against felons but they are too vague on what makes the crime having to do with the job or if it's to serious. so if an employer knows about this you can get barred from the job even if they have no reason. but if they don't know and bar you for simply having a felony you can file against them and take them to court for discrimination. unfortunately this is hard to do, people need to start filing more complaints against employers

one thing you didn't mention is that 100% of people have committed a felony or misdemeanor in their life time

if you open your car door, ding the car next to you and drive away without finding the person and talking to them about it, you have a felony hit and run

if you are walking out of your workplace with a can of spray paint in your hand because your a painter, and a cop pulls you over, possession of that is graffiti parafenalia. boom, felony

How bout letting prisoners pay off the U.S debt instead of letting them play basketball and lift weights so they become physically stonger to break out! I agree making them smarter for the free world but they should also do some job that will help contribute lowering the debt.

There is a lot to be said for preventing crime in the first place. Hard on crime isn't the answer as the stats you claim clearly state.

Ever notice that countries that have free education have lower crime? Would you prefer your money go to education or prison?

My brother is a cop. He found a way to do his job; radar. He stops speeders. If you are speeding you can be stopped and your car searched. He finds stolen cars, wanted people, people without licenses, drugs, guns, etc. Easily.

He got told by his superiors to stop doing it. He was being too good and screwing up the statistics. Statistics don't say the police is doing a GOOD job, they say there is a LOT of crime. So by implication the cops are doing a BAD job.
