  • I know for sure from the horses mouth that Mickey braddock was the same as Mickey Dolenz from the Monkees. He would not say why the name change but I heard it was because he was born out of wedlock and later took his fathers name. The last part not coming frome the greatest sort though. Mickey acta as if the name is a long hard-kept secret.

  • On the other hand, I may stand corrected! Seems like it MAY have been Dolenz of the Monkees afterall. Never knew that before, but I do now. - Norm

  • This was a young 10 year old acter named Mickey Braddock. It had nothing to do with Dolenz, or the Monkees. I remember it well when I was about that age.

  • This used to be rerun on Queensland TV in the 70s - I only ever got to se it if I was wagging off school. I saw Circus Boy by accident but I deliberatly skipped school to watch repeats of the Monkees & the Rockford files. Mmmm did they contributefor my underachieving at school

  • Yes..Mickey became the real Monkee.

  • "I've been trying to make a clown out of that monkey, and now he's making a monkey out of me".....oh the irony of that line!

  • This show comes on at 6:00 am Eastern Time Sunday channel 5-2

  • OMG Micky is sooo freakin' cute!!!

  • This show had to have been filmed in the 50's,right?

  • poor paci

  • "He made a monkey out of me!" Lol @ the ironic foreshadowing of that line!

  • Belle and Sebastien, a band wrote a song dedicated to this series. The song is "My wandering days are over"

  • Its hard to see his face

  • @GJNCA Of course, Beery fils went on to appear in the program that made answering machines fashionable.

  • The man you are referring to as "The Clown" was indeed the man who played Jim Rockford's father, "Rocky" in the Rockford Files. His name is NOAH BEERY, the son of the great silent and early 30s-40S film star, WALLACE BEERY.

  • I've never met a single person who has ever heard of it. It was on from 1956 to 1958. I was born in 1955, but, I remember it.

  • @StellarBlue1 Noah Beery in this show is actually Noah Beery, Jr., the son of Noah Beery, Sr., and most probably, the nephew of Wallace Beery.

  • Isn't that clown the guy who played "dad" on The Rockford Files?

  • Wow, this takes me waaaaay back - yikes.

  • Love that "make a clown out of a monkey", little did Mickey know someday in the future they would make a Monkee out of him. :)

  • we never missed 'circus boy' when i was growing up!

  • That boys trying to make a Monkee out of that elephant!!!

  • I have never seen "Circus Boy" in reruns anywhere, and I am too young to have since it in its first run, but I have always wanted to check it out to see what it was like. I am a big Monkees fan and that is why I am interested in checking it out. Thanks for sharing this footage!

  • Wow, I'd never imagined that one of the Monkees was the "Circus Boy" at his childhood. Thanks a lot for the information!

  • When this was on in the 60s, I was about 6 - years old and we named our little black dog, Bimbo.

  • Before the Monkees.

  • He was Mickey Braddock back then, I believe.

  • He was Mickey Braddock. I saw the show in its first-run. (Uh-uh, don't try to figure out my age, LOL).

  • @Juliaflo Well, I know how old I am, and I saw "Circus Boy" back in the day, like you. We know we are working on our 60's at least...right, J?

  • @StellarBlue1 See here, now. I saw it first-run, but did not say where, LOLOLOLOL.

(I am 21-plus, that's all you'll get from me, LOLOLOL).

Hope you had a good summer.

  • @Juliaflo Okay...you are right..I forgot my manners. However, at my age (sixties) you have to give me credit for my failing memory..

  • Wow! Haven't seen any Circus Boy clips for many, many moons! I just remember how jealous I was of Corky! I wanted to be in the circus too!

  • Oh My God!

    It's been a long time since I've seen"Circus Boy!"

Thanks For bringing him back to us all!

  • Will this ever get to DVD? Neat to see Micky as a child! he even sings a snippet of the Circus Boy Theme on the Monkees TV Show "Monkees At The Circus.."

  • Who's cuter, Mickey in "Circus Boy", or Amy? God, I loved this show, and Noah Beery was great

  • I'm pretty sure all of you compared couldn't come close to how much I love Micky. Mr. Dolenz, wil you marry me?????

  • There's Rocky! Jim Rockford's father. I knew i knew him from somewhere back in the days of the Rockford Files.

    Micky was sure adorable.

  • he's such a nice guy when you meet him, too

  • you met him?

  • yeah, at a convention in new jersey last year in may.

  • i watched that show!!! I thought he was cute too! Micky was my favorite Monkee! I ran into him years later at a hotel in Palm Desert. Of course i had to gush all over him.

  • omg micky is just so cute l iove him<3

  • Monkee foreshadowing....

  • Gosh, Micky was just too cute!

  • You can't beat the early movies. I've given you five stars, please check out my silent movie memorabilia vids (includes Noah Beery)

    when you have time.

  • wow, this is adorable! thanks so much for posting this!

  • "....made a monkey out of me...." ya, I caught it....

  • that's Rockford's dad, Noah Beery jr. as the clown

  • I used to watch this as a 4 year old, and my mom says that when Micky would come on I would sigh, "Oh, Corky!"
