so, i had the same problem last year when i would like to make work this machine with the atari 1050. last month i talk with my father and he sais ti me that he fixed it !!!
i think with yours, though, the drive mechanism is not engaging. That won't likely get solved with a little cleaning. Is there felt enough to pressure the disk down?
i just 'fixed' mine. There were three or four parts that needed cleaning. Unhook power, remove the cover (6 screws underneath) and spot them easy by moving the drive mechanism. CLEAN: 1) the park sensor area. 2) the read/write head. 3) the rails. 4) the mech. advancer wheel (careful). You should be able to figure these out. This can address both reading and park sensor problems. I also *carefully put a little wd40 on the rails. Enjoy!
