it's called "e" wrapping bc when you look at it from the top it looks like a lowercase "e" in cursive. Love your video! I can now loom knit socks!! yay! :D
in regards to this being a wearable item, if I want to include more of the leg than in a traditional sock, is it only a matter of starting with a larger loom size for the top area and decreasing on the way down or is there more to it?
Divide the loom (no matter what size) In half. and then do the same configuration that I showed you... Make sure you come to only four pegs in the centre when making it smaller before making it bigger again. Follow what I am saying?
You can wrap your warn around the outside peg using a twisted loop and it stays on just fine , much easier . . .
and if your loops are so tight that you are breaking your tool just wrap looser . . .
i have been looming for a while now , and knitting even longer . And im glad im not the only one who doubles up on my yarn while working on a loom makes for much better items , sturdier .
oh my... you rough on it girl... when I first started to learn, I was flexing my pegs a little too much and seen the possibility of snapping one off... I haven't but I think it's a small technique in this craft... Sorry you broke your tool dahling.
No. It did not break. It did bend. That's why I used the nut pick instead of the tool. The single layer loops were fine, but when I did the cuff, it was too thick and that's what bent it. Did you see the video response I posted?
To me... it's e-wrapping because if you think about the motion you are making with the material, you are making a cursive letter "e"... or maybe im just a tiddly bit wonky... who knows. :-) Thanks for demo-ing mikey! I'm gonna make these for my 3-month old twin neice and nephew for their first Christmas! I'll show a video when I'm done... I should show the twins sometime... hmmm. future video! Love ya mikey!
I love even the rectangular looms more... LIKE OMG, I can whip up a scarf in literally an afternoon and it's like 1/4" thick and fluffy! IT's A YARN PIG BIG TIME... but oh so lovely!

I know why they call it e wrapping... It is cuz you are wraping it in a shape of an "e".

My tool bent, so I went and got my nut-pick out of the kitchen tools drawer and am using that instead. No bending!

I've never done looming before, but you are making it look so easy by showing me the exact steps. I'm excited about starting this project.
