The Iranian students didn't take hostages b/c of Saddam. The Iran-Iraq war was funded big time by the US, but the US funded Iraq BECAUSE of the crisis. The war was after the crisis took place. The reason why Embassy people were taken hostage was b/c the US had supported the Shah's extremely corrupt regime, as well as ousted the DEMOCRATICALLY elected prime minister in 1953 for a power-hungry dictator b/c of the fear that Iran would be taken over by Commies (USSR was right next door).

Well, I haven't gone there personally but a close relative of mine has been there because the Olympics in Physics was held in Iran, the last time it was held.
Everyone there was friendly and it seemed rather free despite the picture that's been painted of the place. Many people there dress pretty western-like. There's not as much difference between us and them as you'd assume from news reports.

Statistically speaking, Ron Paul has to win the primaries, because 29 percent divided by the number of GOP candidates pandering to that number has got to be a very small percentage.
