  • god damnit you cock sucker you cut the best part out!

  • i really wish this was on the soundtrack

  • I love Lucy, she's kinda like me :)

  • This Version of A Day in the Life my friend thought butchered the song I think its fine but I think the climactic end was really sad for this song

  • soooo fuckin good.

  • 7 ppl should get high..

  • man só esse solo mata.

  • this is such a sad way to play this song...it makes you feel something....

  • Dude, that sound is too amazing for words...

  • I wish this would have been included on the soundtrack; it was my favorite musical moment of the entire movie.

  • @TheOfficiallyRandom you are right.. so much feeling behind this song.. and the faces.

  • Why not listen to a few tracks, and judge for yourself? In fact, watch The Beatles Anthology. You'll gain an appreciation for them on some level. Beatles were/are the greatest band of all time. They transcend all genres, and generations. There's a reason why even kids today like The Beatles. It's like Looney Tunes. It's impossible not to like them once you've experienced them.

  • Love this, Jeff Beck is a genius

  • its good, but the original is always best

  • @fishfreak88 u dnt know music

  • 80's? late 60's and 70's my man.

  • Beatles and Led weren't popular at the same time...

  • Great great song and version. And please don't go asking for tabs, it's not a symphony by Schumann! Just use your ears and an instrument: chords are G, D, E minor, D, C, G, A..G, D, E Minor, D, C, F, E minor, D, C, F etc...find the melody yourself, that's most part of the fun!!

  • where can i find tabs or notes for this version!!!??

  • A link is in the description.

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • arguments aside, The Beatles are genius, and this movie is beautiful

  • This reminds me of my boyfriend <3

  • HUGE fan of the beatles, and this movie, I think they did justice to the songs!

  • Without a doubt, one of the more poignant scenes in the movie.

  • Just a future note for anyone asking as to Jeff's playing technique, and how's he able to make such amazing music, there's several vids of him playing the song live on the sidebar here. there's nothing you'd learn from asking that you couldn't learn from seeing the man in action yourself.

Honestly, it's even more amazing live, because you see what he's doing, and yet you STILL don't quite know how he does it!

  • and though the news was rather sad, well i just had to laugh

  • i saw the photograph.

  • its more like "i sawr the photograph" lol

  • Jeff becks version has always been emotional, but seeing it with this clip is perfect.

Almost made me want to cry.

  • I saw the photograph and...he blew his mind out in a car...

  • 1:50 "i read the news today, o boy"

  • No......

  • 1:50 is more like "I'd love to turn you on"

  • Thanks for posting this clip!

  • Jeff Beck is just great! amazing feeling and tone.

  • this is my fave song. I watched the movie a good 50 times and the fucking idiot that I am i only realized that it was this the last time

  • A day in the life its a piece of art.. and this instrumental version.. it is too..

  • the song gives me fucking chills those notes feel like they are crying man. its crazy man one of the best instrumentals ever and one of the best covers ever period

  • for tuning you drop both e's to d's

  • Only bends. There's a video of Beck playing it on Youtube. Watch it. It's just using fingers to pick.

  • maybe some one can help me, it is really to play this song without a slide or messing with the volume knob or buying some effect, any ideas?

  • You don't use a slide in this song.

Don't play with a pick though. Use your fingers, gives more dynamics which you need.

  • Oh, and having a Strat helps too.

  • are you saying he's playing only bends here? and no slides? i thought i could hear a slide or two (could be wrong though)

i wish i could play with this amount of feeling. i would give up half my speed for that.

  • Oh, he does fuck with the volume knob, that might be were you could hear the slides sort of..

  • thanks man. i'll look into it

  • No, the thing that really helps - OK, the thing that is absolutely vital - is to be Jeff Beck.

  • He's using his fingers for dynamics, slightly removing the edges from notes with the volume knob, and bending on the whammy. Its how he gets his superb lyrical phrasing.

  • nope just straight tone brotha and a good amp and thick strings

  • Absolutely no.

His technique is... have you seen him?

The way he finger picks it with the dynamics, while using the tremolo and fiddling with the volume knob at the same time.

I'm not trying to diss you, but i would like to see you do the same.

  • I think you may have misunderstood me bro. I was responding to someone who asked if he was using a slide... And by tone I'm talking about his sick ass technique. This is one of my favorite guitar pieces ever. I would also like to see myself do the same

  • Oh okay yeah didnt show up, my bad man.

  • The crescendo was perfection, but the final boom of sounds left little to no satisfaction. One of the things that made that song so monumental was the fade-out of those 3 pianos that lasted over a minute even though it felt like forever. Here, one boom happens from the orchestra, and there's no real fade-out to be found. Imagine Jude sitting on the beach like at the beginning with that signature E going on and on....

    Still a good shot, though.

  • This movie did so much right, and that especially goes for getting people like Joe Cocker to sing in it. I was pleasantly surprised to find this was Jeff Beck doing this after looking at the credits.

In all honesty, Jeff was at his top for this performance, but whoever did the orchestration really needed to consider one aspect: The end E chord.

  • This was recorded for the album that George Martin recorded for his In My Life album which featured a bunch of covers. Really cool CD.

  • I am a twelve year old boy and I have had a bad case of Beatlemania since last year when my friend introduced them to me. Im obbsessed... :P THIS MOVIE ROX!!!

  • Im a thirteen year old girl who got Beatlemania from my sister!

    Hi-five!

  • I shouldn't be proud that I'm a Beatles fan?

    ...

    Are you serious?

  • u call it mania, i call it real music

  • i never said anything about the music, i love the music, the fact that people went so crazy over them, especially teenage girls who probably know nothing about music, is just straight up rediculous. and plus their early stuff isnt really the most amazing music ever made. sure its catchy, but pretty much up untill their studio years, most of their songs were suuuuuuper pop'y and kinda generic

  • as John Bonham of Led Zeppelin said "they were there to see them not to listen to there music, they just wanted to see them, they didn't really care about the music all that much" not a direct quote but look up "rare interview with Jimmy Page & John Bonham " he has a good point, don't get me wrong i love the beatles thoug

  • my point exactly :P 'beatlemania' was just little girls freakin out about popstars. the equivilant of girls freaking out when they see n'sync or backstreetboys, all though the beatles were bigger.

  • The Beatles also sound better than Backstreet and NSync combined.

  • @LtGripweed they sound better then all bands combined lol

  • @LtGripweed why are we even speaking of this two bands? lol. best movie ever.

  • @LtGripweed '

That doesn't say alot. My granny's farts sounds better

  • @LtGripweed Well, that's a No-Brainer. :]

  • @LtGripweed That's like saying that chocolate is better than mud and dog turd combined.

  • @LtGripweed thats still not saying much though, both bands you named are epic failures. The Beatles are only the best. you cant even compare them to Backstreet and NSync

  • If you respect rock and roll you should respect the beatles even led zepplin has to give creddit for the beetles I cant lie I love Jimmy page but dissing the beetles? that def is not cool

  • I love the beatles thus the " Don't get me wrong i love the beatles" I was explaining how the Beatles fans were watching them for all the wrong reasons. Also yet again Beatles and Led Zeppelin, completely different genres, the were just popular at the same time. That's the only relation they had

  • i agree within without you was fuckin awesome, twist and shout was cool 2 but their studio work was the best

  • @shwong866

    ....are you stupid or something?

  • @LINKthePIRATE913 I mean, if you like to cry and scream in a totally unnecessary manner, then yeah i guess you could call me stupid. i love the beatles and i think their genius' but the fact that thousands of girls went so crazy over them was ridiculous. it's the equivilant of girls going crazy over the Jonas brothers, they didnt just loved what they represented, rather than the music. THey just loved the fact that they sang about love and so they got all teary over it. No i'm not stupid grow up

  • I love this instrumental

  • dude... this is amazing

  • absolutly love this version

  • gives me chills, great song, great movie plus jim sturgess (Jude) is gorgeous

  • this version is amazing

  • Love this song and the ending shot to this scene starting at 1:48; where the camera quickly pans across from the newsstand to Jude. Great movie; I could watch it over and over without it getting boring.

  • I love This Version!!!

  • best song in the movie

  • I love this movie

  • Just so y'all know, this particular cover of "A Day in the Life" is the third track on the George Martin 1998 album "In My Life," available digitally on iTunes as well as on CD from Echo-MCA. It also features covers from Robin Williams, Celine Dion, Jim Carrey, and Sean Connery.

  • anyone got any idea where to find this track (without talking through it), its not on the soundtrack even though its the best song by far

  • look for jeff becks cover, its about 4 minutes long, no talking

  • According to Wikipedia, "Jeff Beck's cover of "A Day in the Life" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance."

    Why am I not surprised?

  • I freaking love how they did this in the movie i almost like it as much as the original version

  • @vikings612 Disgusting

  • i'm so glad i figured out Jeff Beck played this, i couldn't find it till then! i love it!

  • i wish they put this on the album

  • That's awesome! I didn't know Jeff Beck played that. I watched that part like 100 times just for the guitar playing.

  • best song in the movie.

    BY FAR.

  • learn the song by ear. That is the best for you to improve as a musician. ;)

  • I shed a small tear of joy when I heard this song start. Amazing.

  • easily the best part of the movie

  • easily the best part of the movie

  • Sweet guitar!! I miss the song though.. I better like the original

  • I heard this version when it originally came out on George Martin's "In My Life" album of Beatle covers, came out like ten years ago. I think this is easily the best cover of a Beatles' song I've ever heard.

  • this solo was one my favorite songs in the movie.. but it's hard to pick out a single favorite

  • This is incredible. Best movie ever too.

  • This is awesome

  • i fucking love this

  • You don't need to tune it like that

I play it perfectly fine standard tuning

    just different frets

  • the timbre's going to be a little different though

  • can we get a tab bro?
