@JayEnots that is done by finding a C on any part of the fretboard in which you can complete the scale from any note in the C major scale to itself in the next octave. this same concept can be taken from any scale. you will always have the same finger pattern in ionian, dorian, fridgian, lidian, mixolidian, aolian, and locrian.
@deathtar94 Sorry, this is the Pitch Axis Method, it does not teach how to play across the entire fretboard it only gives a starting position. You have to work the rest out your self. I guess it's a start. Does any body know of a method that teaches how to play all scales and their modes across the fretboard in all directions? Thanks.

I think he actually has the correct information in his video.
The Ionian mode is identical to a major scale.
The Locrian mode is a natural minor mode with lowered 2nd and 5th scale degrees.
